For a feeling of being in France, this restaurant helped alot! My daughter and I went here for my birthday, and we were treated like queens!!! Staff is wonderful, food is wonderful and the atmosphere is friendly - we'll definitely be back!!
We visited before a theater performance. The service allowed us sufficient time to dine and stroll over to the theater.
This restaurant serves a delicious brunch every day of the week. The omelette with smoked salmon and gruyere cheese is exceptional, as well as the french onion soup.
Every restaurant has good and bad nights, this one is no exception, most likely. Our last meal was unremarkable with regard to the food. I had the duck leg confit, which was dry. It came on some cabbage, which was decent. I had onion soup, very blah. My wife ordered a salad which was probably the best part in f the meal. She also ordered some fettuccine with mushroom which was just not tasty.
The service though, is what made the evening.... lackluster.
We were there pre-theater. And, we let it be known. After giving our order, the appetizers came within a reasonable amount of time, but we waited 30 minutes more for the main course after our appetizer plates were cleared. This in spite of asking the waiter and the host, to please get us served.
It was an off night. And, it happens, but it’s left a bad taste and I don’t think we’ll be going back.
Excelente comida y precio.

I enjoy the food and pretty ambiance. However, my service was terrible. They messed up my order and I had to wait a very long time for them to bring my bill. This was because the waiter was clearly flirting with a patron and would not pay any attention to my table. I’ve brought several of my family members here when they visited from out of town and I do not know if I will be returning to this establishment again.
I received confirmation on a reservation but when we arrived they said they didn’t have it and were having problems with online reservations, however not once to she look online to find the reservation. They did sit us but it was about 30 minutes after our reservation. One diner clearly articulated a severe gluten allergy which the waitress stated she understood but then delivered the salad with a large piece of bread on it and then seemed to not really understand why that was an issue. An ok meal at best with average service. I would not got back.
Food was not that great. The chicken livers were a big blob in a plate and the short ribs were tasteless. The service was ok. I don't think that any of the staff was from France. That might explain the state of this restaurant.
Anyway, will not go there again.
Brasserie Athenee is a very pleasant restaurant conveniently located in the Theater District. The food and service were quite good, and the restaurant has a very nice ambience - with views of the area's bustling foot traffic.
We came here for lunch before a Wednesday matinee show. Our food was very good and when I looked around the restaurant at what the other diners were eating, it all looked great. Service was very attentive, and our waiter started off by asking us if we had time for a more leisurely lunch or whether we were in a rush so that he would know how to pace the meal. Great pre-theater choice.
I was more impressed with this place on my first visit. Not bad, especially for an efficient, tasty, pre-theater dinner, although I would stick with the main menu. The prix fixe menu is cheap but rather uninspired, served over diner caliber mashed potatoes and mixed vegetables. You get what you pay for for. Service is what you insist on. They are probably used to either a tourist or light bite crowd, because we were barely seated when the waiter asked if we would like to order. Once I told him we would enjoy a drink first and then turn our attention to dinner he was responsive and more relaxed with us. In a neighborhood of overpriced and poor value restaurants, though, this is a good if not memorable option.
Comfortable brasserie with a good menu. Portions were sizable and flavor was average.
Our waiter was excellent-friendly, chill, just nice. He was also funny. We liked our food pretty much. The ambience was low key.
Food was bad, bread was beyond stale, and the waiter was inattentive and rude.
Terrible restaurant. Warm, dirty, lousy food and awful service.
Server showed attitude, didn’t know what a brut sparkling wine means. Food was good.
The waitress brought items out in odd order.
Reheated soup. Tasted old.
Great everyday breakfast. Couldn’t get a better bang for your buck- quality food for surprisingly low prices. Good atmosphere, nice staff. Great for any casual meal
Weird service and mediocre food made for an uneventful evening.
First the server was WAY too anxious to tell us about specials and take drink orders (while we were not all even seated at our table) We all went for the pre-theatre combo which of which my 'slow cooked beef' tasted basically like a weird (TENDER, but weird) pot roast. It was FINE, but not what I expected. If you're looking for traditional French food, i'd not suggest going here.
All in all the food quality was like that of a decent buffet.
We’ve eaten here on more than one occasion because of the great location in the theater district and because we’ve always been pleased with the food and service. This time was no different. I had the lamb chops and they were made perfectly. I recommend this restaurant any time you are in mid town
They're closed for renovations! Got a confirmation for the reservation and everything.
I really cannot review this place, because when I went there on Saturday the place was closed for renovations! Just for that alone, I will not recommend or ever go back. It was so hot out, we walked all the way there to find out you were closed. This is after confirming with me Twice that I was coming. Very unprofessional!
Lovely ambiance and food was delicious.
Excellent pre-theatre experience! I have a gluten allergy and I so appreciated the knowledge of our server and helping me navigate the menu and making accommodations for me. Great wine as well.
Unfortunately our server didn’t tell us about the specials and my husband wood have ordered one of those instead of a hamburger which we both had. I had asked for mine medium rare and half of it was well done. I’ve always enjoyed lunch here but this is the first time we’ve had dinner here. I think I’ll stick to lunches.
In the desert that is the restaurant scene in Times Square, this handsome Brasserie with a foundation in Greek food serves up solid meals, well presented, at a good relative value. The dinner prix fixe available during pre theater hours is a particular bargain.
This was noting more than basic food. Nothing special about the food.
Good food-nice service.excellent choice for pretheater.
Brasserie Athenee is a perfect pre- or post-theater restaurant. The menu is quite varied and delicious, and you can have a simple meal of soup and salad or something more substantial. I go there quite often before a show and I'm never disappointed. I especially recommend the seafood risotto!
Convenient to all theaters, professional waitstaff, wonderful service, and won’t break the bank!
We had dinner at this establishment before attending a show around the corner. The location is excellent to many of the Broadway theaters. The service was attentive enough so that we were able to eat at a comfortable rate but still finished in time to walk to our show. An added bonus was that we found street parking right on 46th, a block away from the restaurant.
Awesome staffs...very friendly and helpful. Great time
I met my sister-in-law .for a pre theatre lunch/brunch on a Saturday afternoon. Very pleasant atmosphere without pretensions. We shared a Greek salad and some appetizers. Food was wholesome and good. Service was excellent. Will go back and try their crepes.
Braised short ribs was pretty good. Vegetables were oversteamed.
Steak was dry.
Service was polite.
Excellent French breakfast items. I had croque monsieur and wife had French toast, and both were delicious. It was very quiet, as few patrons at 8:30am (little odd) but it picked up before we left.
Even given it's location, the prices were over the top. Over $30 for four thin, dry lamb chops. We were not impressed. Average and overpriced.
