Very disappointing. We had previously been at the hotel for afternoon tea in the Brasserie which was definitely a good experience. We booked for lunch on Easter Sunday at the Brasserie but, we ended up in the bar area which certainly did not have the same ambience as the area we had previously visited. The waiter was polite but the service was very slow. The menu was not as stated on the website as it had not been updated, and as a result the choice on the day was far smaller than we were expecting. There were 5 of us and we had to put 2 of the low bar seating tables together in order to be seated together, not ideal if you are trying to eat from them. The food apart from the Croque Monsieur was definitely disappointing. The fishcake salad was not a salad, it was on a bed of wet spinach, the fishcakes were burnt, greasy and could have done with a side order of a dip, to enhance the flavour and prevent from being too dry. The club sandwiches did not have the expected bacon, but seemed full of egg, and as a result were bland overall. The Chicken Caesar salad, the chicken was overcooked, the croutons were wet, (as the salad in all the meals where they were on the menu) came out in the bowls to wet and would have benefited from further drying.
The area was cold & lacked the expected Brasiere experience. I appreciated the small gesture of the discount and remuneration of the fishcakes, but just wanted to have a good meal.
I felt that if the Brasiere was not going to be open there should have been an honest discussion and certainly we would not have stayed, hence this negative feedback.
