Excellent quality food and teas served in a warm friendly environment. Initial welcome and serving of food and teas served promptly. Sadly, the service quality then waned and we had to ask each time we needed something e.g. fresh plates and a second pot of tea which then came as requested. After the initial welcome we didn’t really feel that well looked after!

Took my friend for her birthday. On arriving greeted and taken to our table. Service was quick. Unfortunately there wasn't room to put our 3 tier plate on our small round table so it was popped onto the windowsill, very hard to reach anything. We weren't told what was in our sandwiches or what the selection of cakes were. We may not have allergies but we also may not like horseradish, it was taste and see. After receiving our food no one came back to ask if everything was OK. Only one small plate was left for each of us so we had to put our cake onto the same plate that had the chutney from the savoury items. We had to call the waitress over for more tea. Not cheap at £30 per head. Waiter didn't seem to happy when we said we didn't want to pay the 10% service charge. Overall very disappointing in service as it wasn't very busy.

Competent service and good small plates. Croquetas a bit chuffy. Squid was good although no octopus: shame.

Very disappointing. We had previously been at the hotel for afternoon tea in the Brasserie which was definitely a good experience. We booked for lunch on Easter Sunday at the Brasserie but, we ended up in the bar area which certainly did not have the same ambience as the area we had previously visited. The waiter was polite but the service was very slow. The menu was not as stated on the website as it had not been updated, and as a result the choice on the day was far smaller than we were expecting. There were 5 of us and we had to put 2 of the low bar seating tables together in order to be seated together, not ideal if you are trying to eat from them. The food apart from the Croque Monsieur was definitely disappointing. The fishcake salad was not a salad, it was on a bed of wet spinach, the fishcakes were burnt, greasy and could have done with a side order of a dip, to enhance the flavour and prevent from being too dry. The club sandwiches did not have the expected bacon, but seemed full of egg, and as a result were bland overall. The Chicken Caesar salad, the chicken was overcooked, the croutons were wet, (as the salad in all the meals where they were on the menu) came out in the bowls to wet and would have benefited from further drying. The area was cold & lacked the expected Brasiere experience. I appreciated the small gesture of the discount and remuneration of the fishcakes, but just wanted to have a good meal. I felt that if the Brasiere was not going to be open there should have been an honest discussion and certainly we would not have stayed, hence this negative feedback.

Cream Tea was a great experience. Really nice champagne at the start and mini-quiches and special sausage rolls followed by traditional sandwiches, fab scones and lovely mini cakes. Great friendly service. Everything was spot on.

Booked lunch for my mums 70th. Escorted to eat in the bar as the restaurant was empty so we opted for a salad which was ok. They forgot it was my mums birthday though so didn’t feel special at all and the service wasn’t great.

Hotel was lovely. Personally would have preferred more savoury than loads of cakes. Sugar was a bit over whelming. However food was nice and fresh.
