Brasserie 8 1/2 Ratings and Reviews
This was our second visit to Brasserie 8 1/2 and we enjoyed both times. We went for the Sunday brunch both times, and it was wonderful. The food is excellent, the service seamless, and the surroundings very pleasant. We live in Tennessee or we would go more often!
This is one of my favorite restaurants. The food is wonderful and the service is always professional and friendly. It's not inexpensive, but I don't feel like I need to take out a 2nd mortgage to have dinner. There are tablecloths and the tables are spaced far apart. It's not noisy and you can have a conversation with your dining partner(s) without having to scream. So, if you're one of those loud mouth jerks who needs to be heard across the room, please stay away.
The service was excellent. We went early as we had a play that evening so it was very slow. The food was tasteless, the steak no flavor and tough and it was a filet mignon. All 4 of us at the table were not satisfied with our meal but we did not say anything as it was not our servers fault.
I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Everything was amazing!from the moment you walked in to being seated and served. The ambiance, food and service was impeccable...our waiter was so very attentive and recommended some great choices, ooh the cocktail 🍸 was just devine!can’t wait to go back and do Sunday brunch with my ladies!
We went for New Year’s Eve Dinner and was a good experience. The service was excellent and the food delicious. As appetizer try their grilled octopus, is crispy and balanced. For main, their Duck To Ways is to die for, tender and juicy. To finish ask for the Apple Tatin, the star was the cinnamon ice cream, perfect.
The most wonderful prix fixe New Years Eve dinner. We had foie gras and fried oysters with caviar and crème fraiche to start and then beef Wellington and duck two ways, with souffles for dessert. The duck was fantastic, and I have eaten duck all over the world, including at the Tour d'Argent in Paris.
Chef Deletrain is a creative genious.
The wine list is brief, but all encompassing. The service was excellent.
We will return soon.
We dined early on New Year's Eve and ordered the prix fixe ($70) and a bottle of Prosecco. The burata appetizer and lobster entrée were delicious, and the chocolate terrine dessert was so rich we could not finish it. We enjoyed our meal, and the service was friendly and superb.
New Year's Eve brunch was perfect. Food from breakfast through dinner. Everything fresh and delish. Highlights included pain au chocolat, pumpkin polenta, shrimp, roast beef, salads, flan, the whole dessert bar. A bargain at $34.
A wonderful experience from end to end. Only negative is we had a 8:15pm reservation on Christmas Day and they ran out of one of the entrees I wanted. No problem, I selected filet mignon, which was delicious. We were later told the restaurant closed at 9pm, which means we really had maybe 45 minutes to eat our meal. We were not pressured to leave, but that seemed a little too rushed for us.
I wasn't completely sure about this place but I am so glad we went. Our server was excellent, very attentive and very kind. The food was a great value. We had the pre fixe for Christmas day and the portion was really good for the price. And most importantly, EVERYTHING was very tasty and well made. Wine was reasonably priced as well (NYC standard......). We saw many families dining there as well (some even with small children) and the noise level was just fine. We had an excellent time there. I will highly recommend it.
The Maitre d' (Jeffrey) and the lady checking the reservation were most hospitable.
The young lady with the coat checking responsiblity was very kind and helpful too.
Our waitress was knowledgeable, professional without being intrusive.
Food was perfectly prepared and as requested for donness (for meats). Apetizers and desserts were delicious. Must add that the Christmas Day prix fix was a terrific value and
Thouroughly enjoyable which contributed to make the Day special.
Christmas day lunch. Service was attentive and friendly. However we were disappointed in the food which came out luke warm and quite bland.
We were seated under the stairs and it was cold meaning that our winter jackets remained on.
Was expecting more for a Christmas lunch menu
