Wonderful selection of food...all delicious. The bottomless Mimosas are the best value. We try to come here when we're in the city.
This is the most wonderful restaurant!!!
The food is beyond delicious and the staff is the nicest in NYC!!!
If you want a wonderful restaurant for brunch with great food and service, this is the place. I'm a life long New Yorker and it's my number one place for brunch in NYC.
Authenitc French food in an elegant & sophisticated atmosphere. Excellent selection of seasonal food- white truffles were amazing on my scallops. As always, our go-to place for high-quality French food that satisfies every time.
We always love this restaurant . Never disappoints.
The food was delicious and the service excellent. The duck breast was the best ever. It was my first time there at it won't be my last. I am looking forward to trying another dish.
Our meal was outstanding both the food and the service. The prix fixe was an excellent value and the wine selection was great. It was quiet and one of the best meals we have had in nyc.
will return for sure! (also great that they are associated with hilton honors)
Exquisite decor, excellent cuisine and attentive service are the hallmark of 8 1/2. A real plus is that the tables are spaced to allow real conversation among diners.
What a great find! The decor was modern, but elegant French. It reminded us of a restaurant we visited in Paris. The food was very special. Fresh vegetables, some marinated, some poached. All delicious without the extra salt, butter or oil, which is meant to enhance, but destroys the freshness taste. My husband had the duck. I had the chicken. Both were excellent. The bread was so good. My husband had the pre fix dinner, but we were so full, we had to take our dessert to go! The pear tart was so nice. The prices were what you might expect for a wonderful NY dinner, maybe even a bit less.
A+ all around.
My mom wanted French food but didn’t want to head back downtown after a long day. She had the escargot tartlet and the steak tartare. The tartare was probably the best plate of the evening - traditional. The grilled octopus needed salt and was chewy. The scallops were good - nothing special. The molten chocolate cake was not molten - overcooked. Grade: B.
Excellent service. The restaurant is very quiet. The bar is always busy
Delicious meal, expertly prepared and presented. The wait staff was wonderful! Attentive and extremely professional without hovering over our table.
I've been to this restaurant 5-7 times; we have one waitress usually, and have had one other, and have observed a third in action - they are all an extreme pleasure to deal with and to be around; the bus boy serving the bread is pleasant; the hostess and host are nice; I have never had a thought as to how the food might be prepared any better - it's really an outstanding performance every time - bless them
Went Monday night; it is very nice to be able to BYOB! I Tried the choucroute: EXCELLENT Just two personal comments: I would have preferred more choucroute less potatoes and would recommend to watch the "salt level" as it was "borderline" for my taste. Your filet mignon is always top quality and we noticed an improvement of the Pâtés. Thank you to Chef Bruijneel and Ken to maintain the standards of Brasserie 81/2. Service is always very professional and personalized. Thank you.
Excellent food and service
Very quiet and spacious place. Perfect for business lunches.
Quiet birthday celebration for 2. Attentive and pleasant service.
Amazing Brunch place!!!
Great atmosphere, good service, ok food
Food was average, for example eggs benedict were a dissapointment. Egg were not well done, a bit hard and hollandiase sauce was barely even visible. Too pricey for this to happen.
BDay. Thanks for the Royal Treatment
It was lovely. Great food at reasonable-for-NYC prices, attentive staff who were friendly yet unobtrusive, nice decor, lots of room. Would go back.
Great food and restaurant!
Always a good choice if not sure where to go near the Carnegie Hall .
Food is not at the same high level we experienced in many meals over the past ten years.
Friends had never been there. All of us loved it. Food was excellent, wait staff cordial and helpful. Were able to talk. Just an all around wonderful meal. One of my NYC favorites.
Prefix dinner was great food at a great price.
Lovely room to meet with friends.
We loved their octopus appetizer and steak frite. The restaurant is very nicely decorated in a modern style and we were particularly happy that it was quiet enough to talk to each other without shouting. The server was attentive and helpful. The only issue was that it took us a few minutes to find the entrance since the restaurant is not at street level.
The food is great and the ambience is excellent. The tables are spaced, and the booths are very comfortable... Great for business lunches or dinner with friends.
Excellent food - fair prices - quiet and excellent service
Spacious, quiet, good food but lunch service was remarkably inattentive.
Always reliably excellent with seasonal menu changes. Outstanding ambiance and decor. Excellent service. Fois Gras a favorite.
This is my very favorite restaurant in the world. I love the ambiance, the food is delicious, and the desserts divine. We had the beignets - outstanding! And our wait person was charming, appropriately attentive, and gave excellent suggestions when asked.
was ok. They wanted us to sit by the kitchen door.
This has been my best go-to for Sunday Brunch with guests. It never fails to please because it's a lovely space and the variety of foods offers something for everyone, so I don't have to worry about vegetarian, keto, or whatever. Once again, everyone was very pleased and complimentary about my choice.
Had the food been better, I'd give a better review. Had the duck which I ordered differently from that of my friend, but both dinners came the same way -- as she wanted. Had to send back to kitchen and then she waited for mine to arrive and hers was undoubtedly cold then. The leg portion of the duck was too salty. The dessert menu was wanting. The alcohol choices were/are excellent, and the wine choices adequate.
The best part was the room, the ambience, and the bartender, Pat. The room/food/wait staff does not meet the pricing.
We enjoyed a drink at one of their two lovely bars prior to dining. Had the scallops and crab cake entrees. Both were excellent but the scallops were a treat. We always enjoy dining here.
Previous dining, the food was much tastier and presented more attractively. We come with friends because we can hear each other talk. That remains good. My price fixed menu was a disappointment. The cauliflower soup was neither cauliflower nor mushroom favored as if the chef couldn’t decide which to emphasize. My duck breast was over cooked, full of fat and tough. The pear tart had more puff pastry than pear. My husband’s veal dish was tasteless and the noodles were cold. Wish the food had been better because we like everything else about the restaurant
A real class act. You can have a conversation easily, the food is delicious and reasonable, good service.
We had the pre fixe lunch menu plus dessert. Great presentation for all the courses. The food was delicious and service impeccable. Restaurant ambience and decor is tasteful.
