Brasserie 701 Ratings and Reviews
We were so glad we chose to eat at this restaurant! Deliciously exquisite food, ( try the scallop truffle risotto and Boston lettuce salad with blue cheese )wonderful presentation, generous portions, and great ambiance. Our waiter, Gavin, was exceptional and very helpful in providing recommendations for our weekend stay in Old Montreal.
Went on a date here during the MTL a Table food festival.
Appetizer portions were very small with average taste. The main course duck was a little over cooked and tough, but mashed potatoes were creamy and delicious. The desserts were well presented and tasted great.
The staff was not very friendly and they seemed quite stressed even though the restaurant was less than half full. There was a "hip and happening" ambiance.
Overall a fairly average experience, I would not go back. Spending $100 after tip for two people (without drinks), I expected more. This place is lacking heart and soul.
Great place except for one thing. I really do not need loud thumping dance music drowning out my conversation in a place that already has a fair bit of background noise due to its deserved popularity. Find a niche and stick with it please. Otherwise, good food, a beautiful building well-repurposed and good service. As I said one little thing does bring it down a notch.
Tried the breakfast Poutine, rich but very good ( comfort food). But the strawberry scone was AMAZING!!! It's a must if you go, seriously. Really nice environment, if I lived in Montreal it would be a favorite! It's also in a great area of town, so beautiful.
I went to the Brasserie late after a show. The restaurant was open which was great in itself I enjoyed it and my food was excellent. What turned me off was the loud music. Not typical of a Brasserie. If it were not for the time of night, I would have dined elsewhere. I was in the mood for something else and for that reason it would not be high on my list to go back. But if you want a nice loud ambiance and good food it may suit your taste.
I had the filet mignon and it was very tender, although also very small for $38. My husband had the striploin and he deemed it "good but not great."
We waited a long time for our entrees, but were not in a hurry so really didn't mind. Service was attentive. Overall, a fine meal but somewhat pricey for the small portions.
Went for dinner with a date. The restaurant is placed in Old Montreal, beautiful view of the church. The food was exquisite. Some items on the menu were a little pricey but the value and quantity made up for it. It was a true pleasure to be there. Would go again and would recommend to friends and family. The picture provided is from the dessert menu and is a chocolate tasting dish for two. Phenomenal!
Service, excellent keep it up!
Food, could be better...
beef tartare for entry, very bland taste and saucy. Too much mustard in the mix.
Duck breast was good but the foie gras in extra I ordered was way too sweet, had an intense maple syrup taste.
Gnocchi, excellent as per my girlfriend!
Drinks, nothing to say!
Overall, it’s a good place for a date or simply have a few drinks/5-7
Went to Brasserie 701 for brunch Saturday morning. The atmosphere was great. We were the first ones there so not sure if it was because they just opened but it was nice because we had really quick service. Love the "boozie brunch" option. We aren't from Montreal and were so happy with the food. I had the classic eggs benedict and my boyfriend had the chicken and waffles. Overall it was good and nothing to complain about.
On a passé une très belle soirée, le personnel accueillant, le service impeccable, la nourriture excellente et le décor enchanteur!
À recommander assurément!!
Nous étions déjà passé pour le brunch du dimanche et c'était tout aussi délicieux.
