Great Valentine’s dinner! Delicious apps, main courses, and dessert!
Service was awful. Didn’t get menus when we were seated. Our table was left unattended for 15 minutes. Had to call over another waitress for menus, which we still didn’t receive. Finally, asked the manager who was also serving tables to help us. She took care
of us for the remainder of the night, but was busy. Our wine bottles were placed in another location (ice bucket with all diners whit swines), so it was difficult to get our drinks filled without someone doing it for us— my glass was often empty. At the end of our dining, they overcharged us by $40.
Looking forward to summer dining in the outside patio
Pretty good food, but very small portions and slow service. Even though we had a reservation, we were seated on the small bottom floor, away from everyone else upstairs. Bottom floor was freezing compared to the toasty upstairs. I had to wear my jacket during dinner.
Not energetic, but loud bouncing sound could be damped by softer surfaces.
Always a delightful evening. WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE. Dottie the hostess/cowberry makes an effort to see that everything is perfect and pleased with the dining experience
Enjoyed an excellent dinner tonight. Shared the pasta special, ratitore pasta with braised lamb neck, with my partner for an appetizer. It was cooked perfectly and tasted delicious. Our main courses were chicken rolatini and sorrento veal. Both were tender and tasty. As always, the service was excellent.
Very loud large group in small room marred an otherwise delightful dinner. Food delicious, lovingly prepared. Service attentive without being obtrusive. Noise from the loud, large group in small room was annoying and unpleasant.
excellent restaurant with good ambiance and good food. BYOB is a bonus.
We went on a Saturday night during restaurant week and it was crowded, but the ambiance was vibrant and the food was delicious. Service was great (very attentive) even though they were busy, they appeared to have plenty of staff.
Lovely place. Good food
The atmosphere and service was excellent. However, the first batch of bread was stale, they did not serve it with oil until I asked and this is an Italian restaurant. The servings for the entree was very small and the server didn't know what tartar sauce was. Since I ordered salmon and needed some kind of sauce to go with it I requested it and they did not have it. My friend ordered steak and it was so rare that she asked him to take it back two times to cook it some more and it was still too rare for her liking. She was not happy she did not order anything else. The tiramisu was not all that great, it tasted more like chocolate and mint than anything. I would have done better going to Maggiano's. This place is also not handicap accessible. If someone in a wheelchair or in crutches need to use the men's room or the ladies room they would have to walk down steps to get to it.
Only thing going for Branzino is BYOB. Servers were fine; helpful as to menu choices. Lamb shank entree was absolutely tasteless! Mussels were excellent as appetizer. Wife can’t even recall what she had - so unremarkable.
The food was amazing! My husband ordered the Branzino filet thinking it was steak, since he doesn’t really enjoy fish. He absolutely loved the Branzino. Everything was perfect. The decor, service, appetizers, desserts were all fabulous!!
We came here for the lunch during restaurant week. Food and service was outstanding. Will definitely come back again.
Extensive menu for Restaurant Week was very nice. Lighting in the large dining area was very bright and ruined the ambience of a Saturday night dinner out. I felt like the room should have been filled with old people and the lighting was kept bright so they could to read the menu.
The food and waitstaff were both very good, we really enjoyed ourselves. The only negative was the acoustics of the room, it was very loud. Otherwise it was a very enjoyable meal!
Food was amazing. Staff very accommodating.
Food was great and our waitress was a family member of the owner. It's a family owned and run business. The only problem was that it was really loud and busy. We had a 8:45pm reservation. But didn't get seated till 9:15pm. Our waitress apologize to us for the wait and explain to us. That Friday nights are always very busy. But asked us to come back on another day. For a better experience. We will return for the food
Some of the best Italian food I have had in Philadelphia! The service was a tad slow though.
Our waitress Jessica was amazing and the only highlight of our meal. To start with a few key items were sold out. Our reservation was for 8:15 and we waited almost an hour after arriving about 10mins early. It was restaurant week but I don’t do their booking. The pasta I ordered was inedible barely cooked, the entire tables vegetable sides were not cooked completely or it at all. We were asked 3 separate times to make another selection as the items were no longer available. The steak my husband ordered was perfectly charred so everyone eventually gets a win. The dessert course for the table was delicious. We will NEVER GO BACK!!! Thanks again to our wonderful server Jessica she was truely a delight. I do not recommend otherwise.
Restaurant week. Had to wait. According to waiter they were understaffed that day. Square Table was very small and in awkward/tight place and instead of facing each other we were diside by side. Did not like the sitting arrangement. Restroom was disgusting. Food was good though. I’ve heard good things about the restaurant so maybe this was because the understaffing.
To be expected due to restaurant week, rather sub-par service and experience because of it being crowded, staff all over the place and not in same page and kitchen running out of certain menu items... probably should’ve held off on trying this place out until after restaurant week. We will come again though since food was delicious and we liked the feel of the restaurant overall.
Went during 2019 Restaurant Week and had an amazing experience. Lots of options on the menu with many vegetarian options for my mom! You could tell the pasta was freshly made. Can’t waif to go back and try something new!
Lovely setting, comfortable and warm. Service was outstanding.
While the food was good and probably better than average, there just wasn’t the wow factor that would cause me to want to return. I’m not saying I wouldn’t but I’d probably look for other options at least in the culinary sense.
My veal entree was just ok and I’ve had much better. I was disappointed in myself because I intended on the crab ravioli but I foolishly allowed the waitress to talk me out of it. I’m sure this jaded my opinion of the veal.
Panna cotta with berries dessert finished well but again, rather lackluster.
Best mussels ever...wait staff was attentive and
I had an outstanding dinner at Branzino! I recently went there for restaurant week and was very impressed. From the beginning, the service was lovely, and the servers remained attentive to our table throughout the entire meal. The ambiance was also very nice. We had the selection between three different rooms at the restaurant - each with its own vibe. As far as food goes, everything was delicious! I would recommend the baked mussels, filet carpaccio, chicken rolatini, branzino filet, tiramisu, and panna cotta. Everything I tried was great. Additionally, this restaurant being a BYOB makes it a great value.
Very nice redecoration of the restaurant
Waitress was exceptionally friendly and attentive
Food was very good
Table was ready on time
We did not feel at all rushed
Very quiet and intimate atmosphere
Home made pasta, home made desserts, wonderful staff. We brought my daughter here for her birthday. We love this place and the owners are wonderful people. The staff is so friendly and sweet, came over to sing happy birthday to my daughter.. My husband and son's first time here, they loved it too!
I took a picture of the mascarpone torte, it was delicious!
The only complaint I have is that my tortellini was rather tough, not soft. The taste was delicious, it was full of butternut squash. I loved everything else about the restaurant
BYOB.. The four of us went for dinner and it was fantastic! the service was 5 star and the food was even higher! Lamb was delicious and the mussels were amazing. We wanted to lick our plates clean. We will be back even though it was over an hour away for us.
Another wonderful dinner at our fav Branzino. The arugula salad, beet salad and artichocks for apps were delicious.
The scallops entre and the Branzino entre were incredible. The pasta with duck was to die for! Christina, the hostess and our waiters were attentive and friendly. We will be back!
We chose Branzino for dinner out on Saturday night in Philly and we made a 7:15 pm reservation. On arrival we waited a long time to be noticed by anyone and we finally got seated st a table in their front room.
The service was very slow and our waitress forgot my soup special completely.
The main courses arrived after a 50-minute wait and we were famished as a result, but both dishes were very good!
My soup came after dinner and it was divine!
Overall the food was very good - they need to hire another waitress or waiter!
Drew M Allen,
We had reservations for NYE dinner. We got there early and they seated us right away. It was crowded already, but the noise level was energetic! The waitress was very knowledgeable and offered great options. My daughter had the crab ravioli and she could not get enough of it. My husband ordered the Lamb Shank, which melted in your mouth. I ordered the Capesante diver scallops which was good but a bit on the salty side for my taste. The only disappointing dish was the side of Broccoli long hots. It could have had more long hots and they only had 3 dessert options, but overall it was a good dinner experience, especially for NYE!
First course beets yummy. Main course fish and tortellini (we shared) was absolutely delicious. Service was friendly but only moderately attentive. I give 4 stars instead of 5 only because the service might have been just a bit sharper. I will gladly recommend Branzino to friends and colleagues. And I will return.
Excellent and creative menu. Great service. Will be a go to spot?
Ate here on a Saturday evening after enjoying the Philly Pops. Place is nicely decorated and we were seated quickly. It is a BYOB so we settled in with a nice bottle of red and a bite of bread. Bread was dry and hard, appetizers were delivered to the table an hour after we arrived and dinner finally came 30 minutes after that. So by the time our meal arrived we had been waiting for an hour and a half. Food was ok, bland simple and unexceptional. Everything is a la carte so price added up quickly and by the end of the evening we felt like a had spent a lot of time and money for very little...
Wonderful meal and service and ambiance!!! We loved it!
