Brandywine Prime Ratings and Reviews
We had dinner at Brandywine Prime after getting engaged on our 4-year dating anniversary. It was perfect. The food was amazing and the wine was fantastic. We had 3 different types of oysters, scallops, and a NY strip, and creme brûlée for dessert. Our server (Mark) was very friendly and attentive. He could tell it was a special occasion so he offered to take some pictures for us and even brought us out some complimentary champagne. Most expensive meal we’ve ever had, but so worth it. We hope to go back every year to celebrate. The food was way too good not to!
We had a very pleasant dinner but I have to say the food was not exceptional. I ordered the filet Mignon and while it was a nice piece of meat, it did not have a lot of flavor. My husband ordered the ribeye and walked away saying the same. Sadly, I do not feel the food was worth the money spent.
We visited Brandywine Prime for the first time to celebrate a birthday. Michael B. was our server, and he was tremendous - warm, knowledgeable, attentive but not overbearing...just great!! Ask for him if you go or when making your reservation through OpenTable.
The special salad offered during our visit included arugula, roasted beets, pear, pine nuts...truly yummy. The steaks were good (I had rib eye, my dining partner the NY strip). My baked potato was the size of a small city:) and my partner's mashed potatoes were divine...I think he could have eaten a second order! The desserts were delicious - I had the chocolate pecan tart and my partner had the chocolate cheesecake, upon which Michael B ensured a lit birthday candle, along with Happy Birthday written on the plate. Nice touch.
The restaurant is split into the tavern (bar area) and the main dining room, separated by open doorways. It was busy and noisy, which is tough when trying to truly converse. We arrived at 7 and by 8 the noisiest groups had begun to clear out.
Please note - you cannot order a burger in the dining room...it's "tavern only" food.
Thanks to Michael B and all the staff at Brandywine Prime for a lovely meal!
We were out taking engagement photos and were in the mood for something light and tasty, so we stopped in one our favorites dining spots to grab the tuna tartare, grilled octopus and the spinach salad. The food is really good here and the tuna tartare is one of our menu favorites. Everything on the menu is delicious and it is a cool place to grab a quick bite at the bar or in the one of the dining rooms. The decor is great and there is a wonderful ambiance. The service is always great!!!
Atmosphere was great. Mood was great. Service was great. Food was great. The whole experience was great. A little pricey for the lower middle class, But great for that one time experience. I cannot leave this comment section without saying how great our server was, Craig, Alias Well was one of the best servers I’ve ever had wait on me. Thank you Craig.
Loud excitement with lots of diners downstairs. Quiet subdued dinner upstairs. This is our go-to place, but the food this trip was absolutely exceptional. Wonderful grouper special and terrific menu scallops (incredible sauce) with delicious mushroom vegetable side. The bread and butter is always great. Great service from Jerry (upstairs).
Very nice dinner for 2 couples , quiet enough that you could have a nice conversation without speaking loudly. The food was delicious , we all had various steaks and the the trio dessert plate was an excellent share amongst us.
It is a little pricy, but the food and the ambiance was outstanding.
No more than you would spend at Morton’s, Sullivan’s or Ruth’s Christ , but a better experience all around.
Great steaks but you pay the price. Very pricey for the region. Good friendly and prompt service. Average ambiance given the price. Our bill for party of 4 with one drink each (brought our own wine) was $325 before tip. Each had appetizer, entree. Shared desserts.
Wonderful place! Been here a few times and always had great service and great food. Love that the owner is there and personally helps to manage things which makes things feel more personal. Atmosphere is very nice - several different rooms with different looks to them that makes it interesting. Definitely would recommend and return.
Liked the BYOB. Nice table. Food was very good, grilled romaine salad and the steak were excellent. Waiter talked a lot and tried hard to upsell the steak selections. Sent to the bar when we arrived, there were numerous tables available when we were seated. Don't like that stall tactic, bar was very noisy and crowded. I would recommend the place.
We had dinner here Saturday night before going to Longwood Gardens. Brought our own wine $6 corkage fee not bad. The service was great from start to finish. And the food was very good except the Grilled Pacific Octopus which was great and the best we ever had. The restaurant started to fill up by time we were leaving and was getting pretty loud. Wished we live closer so we could go back.
Food was great, as it has been in the past. Short rib was extremely tender and delicious. Server Kately was nice and efficient, although it took a while between appetizers and entrées
One thing that surprised and disappointed me was the refusal to allow any substitutions on dishes. I really wanted to try the Chilean Sea bass but I don't eat mushrooms, and the server told me that I could not substitute something else for the present set of the dish. One of my friends wanted to substitute her carrots since she doesn't like them. Again, we were told no. Really? Why? Can the kitchen not handle the change? When I am are spending $25-$30 for a dish, I'd like it to be something that I want to eat, not something I'm stuck with because it accompanies the main part of the entrée.
We went on a Monday night and brought our own wine/ no corkage fee. The service was very professional and knowledgeable. Food was excellent from the grilled romaine salad, filet mignon, huge double stuffed baked potato to the delicious apple caramel tart! Definitely will return
This is our 2nd visit to the Brandywine Prime. Our 1st for Brunch, we will be back when in the area. The buffet portion and the menu portion selections were all delicious. I had the seasonal quiche as my kitchen portion. Wonderful is one word to describe the whole experience.
3 out of 4 steaks were cook proper, mine was over cooked and dry, sent it back they gave us octopus app.(ok not great) and creme brûlée(made with strong honey flavor). veggies were barely cooked still raw n crunchy, most food was barely warm and preparations took quite a long time. Very expensive 400 for 4 people including tip, only 2 of us had drinks, so you do the math.
and it was crazy cold upstairs and Im a hot person. Unfortunately This is my third try and they had given me a gift certificate too(nice of Micheal)but I don't feel its worth spending this kind of money for mediocre food. Love the waiters they're they made it pleasant exp inspite of the cooking. sad diner ;-(
Great restaurant for our anniversary! The Wagyu strip steak on special was perfectly cooked medium rare (though a bit pricey at $78). Service by Mark was attentive but not intrusive (also a plus). Another big plus is the BYOB feature that allows us to bring our own wine for a modest corkage ($6). Thanks for a great dinner!
