   Love Brandl, it has to be the best value restaurant in NJ. We went for the the last day of Jersey Shore Restaurant Week and both my wife and I had the Prix Fix menu which was excellent. Great friendly service, always great food, quiet and easy to get a reservation, and a BYOB. Brandl is difficult to beat and a we have no hesitation recommending this hidden gem.

   I wanted to like this place, I heard some mixed reviews over the years but always thought of it as a solid place. Hostess seemed a little aggravated to be there. We had a reservation, arrived about ten minutes early, and waited roughly a half hour for a table. We ordered the bacon appetizer and it was quite good, came out in this little smoked display which was pretty cool. We had french onion soup and the lobster bisque, both were marginal but not great. I had the scallops and the wife had steak. Scallops were small, vegetables were cold but were again ok, just not great. Wifes steak was cooked well, but the meal was not hot, seemed to be sitting in the window for a little while. I think the waiter had too many tables as he was very hands off the whole time we were there. Also note there is no bar, so BYOB, no big deal. All in all, we expected a much higher level of service and quality, unfortunately it wasn't close to what we expected, especially for the price of everything. Highly doubt we will be back.

   Brandl's is our favorite local restaurant. They food is consistently delicious, inventive with wonderful presentation. The current Jersey Shore Restaurant Week brings back one of my favorites, Thai Shrimp served with pineapple and garnished with a sweet chili and coconut sauce served over Forbidden Sticky Rice...fabulous. Their homemade gnocchi is another wonderful dish made in house with their Bolognese meat sauce. We also enjoy their burrata this time served in wedges with charcoal roasted beets and garnished with a nutty chili oil. You can't leave without enjoying one of their desserts. Although I prefer to share something, I did have my own piece of chocolate tart which was a decadent chocolate ganache served in a chocolate crumb crust. My husband opted for the warm apple strudel. While some of these items appear regularly on their menu, the Thai Shrimp was removed. So if you love this dish, get there before April 6th.

    We are frequent visitors to Brandl's. We love their menu items because of their creativity, how well their executed and presentation. The house smoked dry rubbed wings came out hot, tender and had a flavorful coating offset with the creamy blue cheese dressing. The wedge salad, also dressed with blue cheese dressing, came garnished with pickled red onions and hot bacon bits, both were delicious. The special for the evening, pan seared scallops over lobster chowder sauce was scrumptious. The slightly cream sauce had a delightful flavor that also included small diced potatoes and green onions. The braised boneless short rib was moist and tender served over garlic mashed potatoes with pickled vegetable and demi-glace; a delicious and hearty entree. We finished our meal with warm chocolate molten cake with espresso ice cream and chocolate sauce. A rich, decadent dessert, perfect for sharing.
