Sugar Snap Pea Salad
almond vinaigrette, mint, ricotta
Went to the Branch Line for dinner with our son and his fiance. The service was prompt. There was an excellent selection of craft beers and the food was delicious. The light-filled soaring ceiling gives you the sense of being in a large, open space. We enjoyed an after-dinner stroll past the grapevines next to the historic Commander's House.
Made reservations at the bar which was great. Snap pea salad always a must! Mussels were delicious and nice size portion for an appetizer. Wine list is smaller now but lots of good choices! The trout was delicious also. And the rosemary fries just as I remember. Service was awesome and everyone was very friendly.
Def going back soon to sit outdoors
They were so sweet, I’d been having a bad day and they came over with glasses of champagne to start off our meal. Definitely turned my mood around and the food was excellent. 😘
Great time! Hannah was an awesome server! Can’t wait to go back.
Branch Line is always an excellent experience! Very good, consistent food and staff who care.
We had a great time. Food, service ambiance all great. Love this place!
We went here for my mom's birthday and the service, food, and atmosphere was great. Multiple staff wished Mom happy birthday and they put a candle on her dessert (though no singing which I personally appreciate). Considering the stressors the restaurant industry is in during COVID to make everything feel as "normal" as possible with less staff than needed, we very much enjoyed our food and drinks. The menu items we enjoyed were the Piri Piri chicken, shrimp risotto, trout, spaghetti, brownie sundae, and strawberry shortcake. We'd like to go back when they have the pork schnitzel to give that a try (they were out this particular evening). Definitely recommend!
Limited menu but everything on it is exceedingly good. Leave room for the Salted Caramel ice cream dessert - simple, but spectacular.
This was such a great experience. The atmosphere outside with the flowers and plants all around us, the great service, the delicious food and unusual but really great wines. Really good all around.
We had a great meal sitting in the hightops outside. Good selection of beer and wine available. Steelhead trout was a table favorite.
My first time there. SUPER positive experience. Will be back for sure.
Limited menu. Nice ambiance but unfortunately you don’t have many choices here. Not recommended for brunch.
Spectacular service—Obi is nothing short of sensational! Everything we consumed was delish. We’re always happy when we make it to Branch Line!!!
We had a lovely dinner on the outside patio, which is covered so we were unaffected by the summer rain. The service was fantastic and ambience casually elegant. We were able to have a “nice” meal even with little kids in tow! The food was not as delicious as it had been in the past but we’re hoping it was just an off night.
Always love the atmosphere, inside and out, and we received very good service by hostess, wait staff and manager. Two of my favorite things about Branch Line are the pea salad (was as delicious as ever - exactly as we remembered from pre-COVID) and their orange wine offerings (was disappointed that they didn't have them, but the manager came over and explained that they are still rebuilding their wine list post-COVID, and was very helpful in suggesting other wines to suit our tastes). Also on the plus side, we had a coupon for free potatoes that we were told weren't on the menu anymore, but the manager offered to ask the chef if he'd make them. The shrimp risotto was delicious, as was the strawberry shortcake. On the down side, I have never varied from the consistently delicious rotisserie chicken, but decided to splurge on a steak. Was very disappointed with the quality for the price ..... chewy and lacking flavor - come to think of it, it supposedly came with chimichurri (typically a flavorful accompaniment) which I didn't even notice. I think it was on the menu for $34 - not a great value. Also, Open Table asked if it was a special occasion when I booked and I put "Birthday" which was never acknowledged in any way (not a big issue, but not sure why it is asked). I will eagerly await the return of hard-to-find orange wines to the wine list, and most definitely return to enjoy with the rotisserie chicken and pea salad. Period.
Love the patio! Such a lovely space to sit and enjoy dinner with friends.
excellent outdoor space, professional staff and good food.
Simple food & drinks done well in a lovely location with plenty of parking.
The food and service were excellent. So was the peace of mind--Branch Line has a covered outdoor space, so we knew we could eat outdoors even it if rained.
Busy rainy Sunday night, but Obi provided excellent service!
He was very attentive!
Food was good, as always!
I ordered the egg sandwich and it had lettuce on the roll. The eggs were just barely cooked and it flat and soggy. The wait staff was exceptionally nice.
We all had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed our food. Our waitress was wonderful! Very friendly and professional too. The noise from the leaf blowers was annoying, however.
The service was great, and we’re already planning to come back! Everything we ordered was delicious (crab dip, piri piri chicken, cob salad, marinated cucumbers).
I've been to Branch Line several times in the past and have always enjoyed my experience, but the food was disappointing on my last visit. I got the pork schnitzel which tasted mainly of oil and the quality of the pork was not good (tough, mostly hard pieces of pork). My husband's steak was mostly fat. Dessert and service were both good. I will be back, hopefully this was just an off night.
Great lunch at the bar! Front and back staff are fantastic. I look forward to visiting Branch Line again.
The large open space is not particularly conducive to conversation. The food is good but nothing special. The server was very attentive and helpful. Overall a good but not outstanding experience.
Branch Line is a not so hidden gem. The menu is delicious and the beverage list is very well defined. Top flight dining experience.
Very good food and lovely setting. A bit noisy, especially inside. We had risotto with shrimp, the burger and a burrata salad, all very tasty. The service was just right. I would definitely recommend. We went a little on the early side (6:30) and had no trouble getting a table, but by 8 pm it was full.
We‘ve eaten at Branchline several times earlier and it was excellent, but this last time, the chicken was dry and the pork schnitzel over-cooked and tough.
Food is delicious and interesting -not fancy and not plain- but just right! All servers were responsive and enthusiastic. We ate outside on the covered patio and the spirit of the place is energetic in a pleasant way and less noisy than inside which can be quite boisterous and can result in difficulty with conversation. On balance, this is a very satisfying place to share food with friends and family!
We always have a fabulous time at Branch Line, and this visit was no different. It's clear that the entire staff takes great pride in what they do, and this sense of teamwork and purpose translates to every aspect of the experience from food and beverage and service. No question the best restaurant in Watertown, and a great legacy for its former sibling, the now-closed Eastern Standard.
Our waiter was so welcoming and pleasant and we had a lovely experience eating inside.
I wish that the food had been better. My husband and cousin had steaks and though flavorful; each steak had a lot grizzle. The boys were not happy. I had chicken soup which I'd hoped would be more broth like on this cool summer evening. It was unusually sweet and when our dear waiter saw that I was not eating it. He took it off of our bill. I know the food chain line is a bit uneven now. Good beef is expensive and hard to source. I hope that things get better. I love this restaurant and we were so happy to be there. They are trying very hard to please. I hope that things get better.
I ❤️ the Piri Piri Chicken!
The chicken dishes were delicious and we enjoyed the brownie sundae which was enough for 3 people to share.
The people working are either badly trained or have issues dealing with racial minorities. I go in and get a blank stare — no welcome, nothing. Server do not come when we need her. Food is very salty. Probably good if you are drinking. I loved eastern standard and I was hoping for something similar. Probably wouldn’t go back again. Very sad.
We were able to revisit this nice spot on a very last minute decision. Got reservation and decent seating indoors (which was key, as it was 96 here yesterday!)
The food was delish per usual, and inventive. The sauces are a bit overdone in my opinion. Less is more, especially in the summer months. The broccolini was too wet, again a lighter hand on the sauce would make the veggies stand out more.
Our server was nice, informed and upbeat. But the overall service was a bit spotty: asked for bread and it stent appear until about 15 mins later. We also had to “look for” our server a couple times to ask for items like a missing fork (essential) and more wine.
The restaurant was crowded for a Monday night. We were happy to see such a great local place survive the pandemic and thrive in the aftermath
We’ll be back 🥳
I think things are a little off in general with most restaurants right now so I'll give it a pass but the pretzel appetizer was really terrible (stale) and for $7 you should get a much fresher, bigger pretzel. Our meals were good but for that price I would expect a little more.
Don't know if the servers were all new, but food was being delivered to random tables.
The schnitzel was great. The'Primer burger was hard as a hockey puck. No seasoning to the meat, either.
Worth another try, but stick with the chicken that looked pretty good
