Great service. Predictably good food
We were there a couple of years ago and it was AWESOME. Our experience there the other night was awful. Food was terrible. Maybe they have a different chef. It was very disappointing. Won't be going back.
The roast chicken was very tasty indeed & the sides hit the spot as well. The service did leave something to be desired however. Would visit again but not in a rush to return.
We have been to Branchline many times and it is one of my partner’s favorite restaurants. However, we were really disappointed with our experience this time. We ordered two appetizers and two entrees, all of which came out within 10 minutes. We had no time to enjoy the food and both felt sick after trying to eat some of every dish before it went cold.
It was fine. Nothing amazing, nothing terrible.
Good food, friendly service.
Server was pleasant. Sadly only beer and wine license. Stuffed scallop is not true. It’s a minced up scallop similar time a crab cake. Decent but not what I was expecting by the description. Burger was shockingly super thin and medium rare came well done. Hangar steak was so so and the snap pea salad was tasty. They handle allergies very professionally. Probably won’t rush back here.
Fun atmosphere, great food, friendly staff--perfect evening.
The food is phenomenal.
Kyle is a very personable, knowledgeable and approachable manager - took the time to ask us about our experience.
Gabby is an awesome waitress; the outside seating is cheerful and toasty warm with the heaters.
Great service and the restaurant was pretty quiet so talking was easy. It was a Tuesday so it's slower than a weekend but there isn't music blasting. All the food was great though the broccoli and cauliflower weren't anything special - just good roasted veggies. Fried rice is bomb! Pea salad was very refreshing! Fish was great we had both the trout and the cod. Entrees are bigger portions than we expected! For two people one side is plenty with two entrees.
Food was amazing! The service was perfectly timed and attentive (without being over bearing). They were very friendly. We had a couple people not able to join us and they simply lowered the leaves of the table so we had a table that better suited our party. This was actually my second visit in two days.
Pork chops were tough and too salty, but otherwise the meal was good.
Not on patio during subarctic temps, and windy too
We have been going for years. We love Branchline! The food and atmosphere never disappoint and the service is usually top notch. It’s the perfect place for a special occasion and casual date night.
I ordered the Sugar Snap Pea Salad and my mom got the Cauliflower Melt. We shared the fried potatoes. Everything was delicious!
We love Branchline! This is our go to restaurant. We are in the midst of moving and decided late in the day that we had no food in the house, so we decided to head out in a cool, rainy night. Such a haven. Our seats at the bar were reserved for us and everyone was attentive! Service is always spot on!
Food was superb, we were still talking about it the next day.
Great food, great beer, great ambiance! Love the sugar snap pea salad!
Lively atmosphere, great service. Food was over-salted
The food was disappointing compared to past experiences. The trout was over cooked and dry as well as the pork chops. The short ribs were too thin and chewy. Service was great as usual though.
We loved the food and ambience on our first visit. But this, our second visit, was disappointing: much of the food was too salty (the pea salad, the chicken - even the brownie!) and my husband's entree (cod) was served lukewarm (if that) (although when we mentioned it, they did take it back and cook a new dish, served hot). We will likely return, as it is so convenient to the New Rep Theater, but hope the food improves, or it was just a bad night.
The rotisserie chicken is worth the hype. My friends also enjoyed their chicken and loved the ambiance of the restaurant.
The rotisserie chicken was overpriced and swimming in too much grease
Perfect location to get together with a friend to chat. We both ordered the sausage and fried eggs. Sausage was good but there was a maple syrup aïoli that visually was similar to fat! Although I knew it was aïoli I had a hard time not to notice the texture and visual aspect of it.
My coffee was really cold when I got it but my friend’s tea was ok. There was nothing on our table except for our plates. We had to ask for mustard, ketchup and bread.
The ambiance is lovely. The waiters are friendly and overall we had a good time and I will recommend it to others but I had to mention the negatives too to be fair
Lively environment, attractive setting. Attentive staff marred only by busyness and kitchen issues...one of 8 meals not hot, for example.
Well received by newcomers. Will go back; have been several times before.
Sadly, the food at Branch Line seems to have gone downhill. We were there for a pre-theater meal on a Saturday night, and enjoyed the competent attentive service and the dynamic vibrant space- but the food has gotten lackluster. The sugar snap pea salad is as delightful and refreshing as ever, but the other dishes were bland and uninspired. The tiger shrimp starter was way overpriced and the shrimp mushy. The chicken and rice soup was bland. The short ribs were a teeny tiny portion that was a bit like Korean kalbi but tough. I don't know if there is a new chef or a lack of attention to detail, but I worry for the future of this lively Watertown restaurant when new and possibly better restaurants set up shop at Arsenal Yards.
We sat at the bar for a glass of wine and a quick bite to eat. We had the half rotisserie chicken with roasted potatoes and the burger. So good! We love it here.
Food was good but bland. Nothing exciting and thus not entirely worth the price. Best part of the menu was the desserts!
Very interesting menu in a wonderful space. Noise level is energetic early on during dinner but after awhile it tapered off somewhat. Open kitchen concept is fun to watch and the food choices are pretty varied. There seems to always be more than enough choices for me to feel "I have to return to try the pork chop but I can't pass up the Carbonara" feeling. Wings were tasty and tangy, made a nice app. A diner at the table next to me had the chicken soup that smelled incredible so I'll have that next time. All in all a very good dining experience.
I love it there. The chicken is out of this world.
We have dined at Branch Line many times, especially before attending a New Rep performance. Dina and other Branch Line staff are always very helpful, and the food and service are usually of a high level. However, on this particular occasion, the service was uncommonly slow between the appetizers and the entrees, and there was confusion by the wait person about the orders (three duplicate orders of the snap pea salad were delivered!).
While others enjoyed their meal selections, when they finally arrived, I found the oven roasted cod a little under-seasoned for my personal taste.
I hope that these comments will taken for what they are intended, i.e., constructive feedback. Overall, Branch Line is still a favorite for us, especially if we're attending a New Rep play afterwards.
We arrived at 6:30 in order to have dinner in time for the 8 PM show right next-door at the New Rep Theater and our food did not come until 7:45 PM. We were so rushed that we could not enjoy our food. The manager did comp us the drinks we had ordered but it really was not an enjoyable dining experience.
Outstanding service, warm, welcoming staff, and great food. I will be back
Waitress was excellent
This place was all the rage when it opened. I still can't figure out why. Maybe if you like rotisserie chicken it's good. But for people who eat plant-based meals, this has one of the worst menus around. ONE lunch entree that did not involve chicken, fish or meat? I ordered the cauliflower melt which was - no exaggeration - - about 10 tiny cauliflower florets with a tiny bit of boring melted cheese on an enormous slab of bread. Really? The only reason I've gone back is because the location is good. But this week was the last time. I suggest the chef go have a meal at Alden & Harlow. It's by no means a vegetarian restaurant, but it's one of the best places around for a vegetarian meal. Hey, it's the 21st century! There's no reason for non-meat entrees to be an after-thought.
We eat here often and always enjoy our meal. A few members of our party commented on how salty everything is and I do agree - a little heavy-handed on the salt. That said, we love the menu, environment and service. The food is generally delicious. My favorite is the snap pea salad. We will go again but a little less salt would be good!
Thoroughly enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. Staff was friendly and the food was prepared and brought to us quickly!
A group of 7 pals from high school got together to celebrate their 70th year on the planet. Dinner on Branch Line's patio was almost perfect for this. It was perfect in every way but one -- due to the ambient noise level, cross-table conversation was pretty much impossible. From past experience, in milder seasons when the patio canopy walls are removed the patio would probably be perfect in this regard too.
Branch Line is a wonderful place to have dinner before a play at New Rep. Easy parking, we had a wonderful server, they are gluten-free friendly, and the meal was great. We enjoyed it a lot.
Food and ambience were very good, the waiters very pleasant, but it took a long time to get each plate.
