Braise is a Willow Glen restaurant focusing on share plates and select main courses and a full craft cocktail bar. Headed by Chef Anthony Jimenez, formerly of The Table, and Chef Josh Hanoka of Bray Butcher Block, Braise offers an upscale twist on classic comfort foods, meat savvy dishes, and a modern take on seasonal vegetables.

With a focus on quality, we rotate our menu regularly to incorporate locally sourced and seasonal ingredients whenever possible.

Everything was fabulous! From the cocktails to the dessert. Our server was very personable and knowledgeable. One minor critique - the panna cotta had a bit too much gelatin - it should be a little looser. And I wish the stools at the high tops were high chairs - two hours on those stools is a bit hard to take.

No matter my experience, the cheddar beignets will keep me coming back every time.
Service was friendly, if a little off on their timing, bringing out the main course before our salad.
Ambiance is pleasant, but dampened by flickering lights (we were told this was a regular occurrence and just a result of the building’s power supply) and the high top stools. Nothing about stool seating makes me want to enjoy my meal at a leisurely pace. I’m too focused on finishing my food so I can get out of there and soothe my poor back.
Overall, still a good experience. Would go back but would request a normal table.

Food has been hit and miss the last few visits Papaya Salad Chickpea Fries were great; Cheddar Beignets were just okay (normally our favorite). Porcini and Romanesco were forgettable. We’ll try again, but they’ve definitely being moving farther down our list.

Small local restaurant with fresh ingredients, friendly environment and very tasty food. Menu is a bit limited but everything we had was great. Cheddar Beignets -yum. Little Gem salad super fresh and large although $15 is a lot for a appetizer salad. Had special Sea Bass which was wonderful. Crunchy skin and moist inside with good sides (wish there had been a little more). Lamb braise also very good but could have been more on plate also. Chocolate pot de creme delicious; get your own cuz not shareable but priced appropriately.

Lots of vegetarian options. Only things to keep it from perfect was noise (small with high ceilings),
Limited menu, and some small portions for price.

For Valentine’s Day would have been a nice touch to offer a rose or small glass of champagne.

We’ll definitely go back.

Food was great but service was extremely slow. It took over an hour from the time we ordered until we got our food! The waiter came out a few times and said the food would be out “any minute” but then we just waited and waited.

Entrees were great, the burger is always a hit. However, both cocktails were so heavily garnished with allspice that they were undrinkable. Additionally, the Mendocino mushroom dish was well-made, but was about 70% polenta with nothing to eat it with. Overall, it was a disappointing return for us.

Third time at Braise. Love the foods. this time service was really slow and awful. the restaurant was half full, the waitress came right away with water and this was the only time we got water for the entire meal - brunch. she took our orders and we have not seen her back. my husband order a wedge salad with chicken; the salad came but no chicken; we told the person bringing out foods about the chicken. he said it will comes out in a few minutes. She came back after 10 min and said it will come out in a few minutes. My husband had to stop eating his salad to wait for chicken. it finally arrived - essentially a piece of chicken thigh, floured and deep fried... this is the most failed salad we had. my sandwich was good so my husband shared it. During the entire dinning time, the waitress did no bother to come back and see how we were doing, pouring some more water perhaps. no! everyone seems to tend to the eight-people table across from us. We had to flag (waiving) her down to get the check, then wait some more for her to come back. my husband decided to take it to the counter and that is how our Sunday brunch ended! our other two times at Braise - once for brunch and other for dinner and both these times were excellent - foods and services.

A little on the expensive side, $20 for a head of cauliflower seemed a little over the top. The fish special was $32. These were good, but . . . . If there were more people the noise would be very high as there are no baffles on the ceiling. Luckily we were there early and only had one noisy table.

Usually pretty good although the menu doesn’t seem to change much. They forgot our wine, twice this time. A little lax on the service side but the salad and burger were good. Fries tasted like they had been cooked twice. They were so crunchy and didn’t appear fresh. NY steak was on point.

We really do enjoy Braise, and of course will return, but oh how I wish they would work on the service aspect. our first course arrived. The drinks to go with it arrived when we were close to being done with that course. The second course arrived, and while we hadn't finished our drinks from the first course more drinks arrived. The main arrived and, you guessed it, drinks arrived with that when we hadn't even started on our second course drinks! In addition, we hadn't finished with our second course food! I felt so very rushed, so our main wouldn't get too cold. Surely the server should be watching to see when to bring out the next course and drinks!? My "main" felt more like a side dish. I appreciate the attempt at vegetarian dishes, but perhaps work on the prep (I couldn't eat some of it as the cauliflower was a raw in the center), and make it appear as a main not a side.

Sorry to rag on you. We do love Braise, but this time we were a bit frustrated.

2nd dining experience Will return to try lunch menu. Husband ordd lamb stew new to menu. It was tender&tasty and he hopes it stays on menu. I ordd whole roasted fish again because it's that good!

We did a double celebration on New Year’s Eve... ringing in 2020, plus a birthday dinner.

Had the gnocchi (my favorite of the evening), braised beets (also delicious), burger (super messy, but in a good way!), and the rib eye steak... probably the most disappointing of the evening, cooked well as far as temperature of the steak, seasoning was a little off... peppery (sp?) but also not a lot of flavor, kinda of weird. Overall though, the service was great, drinks were tasty, as was dessert.

Will definitely go back for gnocchi and also to try other dishes too!

Amazing food!! The papaya salad and the fried chicken are my favorites that always stay in the menu. I love that they also continually change the menu to keep me going back. Hands down has the best cocktail list as well!!!

We have dined at Braise on multiple occasions; however, this experience was incredibly disappointing. The wait staff was preoccupied gathering in the back around a laptop and their lack of attention to meal service ruined our meal. We ordered a bottle of wine as our salad course arrived to drink with our meal. I watched as our bottle sat in the wine chiller at the end of the bar for over 15 minutes. The waitress kept telling the host to open our bottle by gesturing toward the bottle.

When he finally brought the bottle to the table we had finished our entree and had to fish cork out of our glasses.

Our entrees came before we finished our salad and we had to move our salad plates to the side to make room. No one ever came back to clear our salad plates. Everyone ordered the fish which arrived cold and the sauce was congealed. This tells me our entrees sat for a while in the kitchen.

The food is always provides a unique dining experience but service is also key to the overall experience. We brought our daughter who was visiting for the holidays from Austin and set expectations for an amazing meal. Unfortunately we were all very disappointed.

The food was good, but I will not go back because their menu is rather limited and they won't do substitutions. I looked at the menu online and decided to go, but was surprised when the menu had changed. There wasn't much on the menu that I wanted. So, I chose the New York steak. Personally, I don't think a New York steak should come with only French fries and no vegetables. I suppose I could have ordered a side of vegetables, but I was so put off at the time that I didn't think about it. Their quality was very good, but the quantity not so good. My fiancée's halibut was small, maybe at best 6 oz. She is a small Asian girl and she said she was not full and could have eaten three of her meal. The panacotta dessert was very good.

It was a pleasure to chat with the owner/manager and let him know how delicious our meals were. The halibut with little potatoes and sautéed leeks was delicious. The hollandaise sauce was incredibly good- I didn't want to waste a drop. The chanterelle mushrooms and polenta were good but outshone by the gnocchi which was light and fluffy and left us wanting more. My friends both had steak which both indicated had a bit too much gristle - so they were a little disappointed. The panna cotta was excellent - just how I expect the texture and taste of a good panna cotta. the shortbread cookie was light and lovely. Except for the steak, dinner was wonderful. It was pretty noisy until about 730 when it quieted down a little.

The first time for my wife and I in this restaurant even though we live in Willow Glen where it is located. We have been wanting to try it for awhile. It is a great location. My martini and my wife's French 75 were great. The fried chicken, chanterelles with polenta and the gnocchi were outstanding. We will definitely return.
