Horrible mis-management. There were a ton of reservations that were waiting a long time to actually get a table. Seems like they overbook their tables. We arrived at 6:45 for our 7:00 reservation. Seated at 7:35, then it took another 15 minutes for anyone to even give us water and only after us asking. The whole time the manager was at the table behind us talking with the patron about the finer points of bourbon and scotch. I love bourbon, but for the manager to talk for 20 minutes while tables were not getting water or a waiter is not acceptable at a pricey restaurant. He should have been helping his staff and customers!! Food was good, not exceptional. Waiter was a nice fellow, bit not a professional level. There are a ton of great restaurants where you will get great service at a better price.
Reservation time was not honored, so we were stressed out about making our show and only ordered entrees. Well-done steak came out medium at best and had to be sent back, so one dinner was finished before the other was delivered. Manager did comp us the meal because of our bad experience, but they need to handle their reservations better. We were not the only diners upset that evening.
We waited an hour and forty five minutes for a table we had reservations for. The bar staff was lively and delightful and offered interesting drink options while we waited. When we were finally seated with no apologies for the long wait, the food left something to be desired. The fried green tomatoes were flavorless, but the shining star of the evening was the pretzels and cheese. Overall, I definitely will not be returning.
Good but not exceptional food. Very nice waitress. Close to Heinz Hall so good for before show. Pretty room but long hike to restrooms.
Was going to a show at the Benedum and found this restaurant on open table. It is located in the renaissance hotel. The hotel is beautiful. My mom and I split an appetizer, salad, and the bean cakes. Everything was very good! Our server was wonderful and we would definitely be back!
Christmas dinner date. The round table booth wasn’t very comfortable, we should have asked to be moved, and there was a wedding upstairs that made it noisy. Food was very good and the service was excellent. A tad pricey, ok for the quality of the food, but not the environment.
It was me and my Wife’s 1 year anniversary. The service and food was amazing.
Food was fair, but well overpriced.
Very noisy environment. Both days we were there they had a wedding going on and everyone kept walking through the restaurant for some reason.
Also thought since i made reservations almost 2 months in advance they would have given us better seating. They basically put us in a small table in the middle of the room, while others who had no reservations got corner booth seating.
Perfect pre-show meal for any of the nearby theaters. Fantastic service. The food is creative and perfectly prepared. Unlike many restaurants in the district, you’re not cramped in a room with people sitting on top of one another. Highly recommend!
First timers and we were pleasantly surprised. This was pre-theatre and service was spot on. Food choices were interesting and our dinners were excellently prepared.
Great theatre option as is close to all.
10 of us had brunch on a Sunday. Everything was perfect. Some of us had the brunch while others ordered off the menu. Everyone raves about the food. Service was excellent
I used to go to Braddocks when I was downtown for a concert or the theater. Their prices were reasonable, the building is beautiful, the service was good. I was generally ordered mussels, one of their signature dishes. I was surprised to return recently to find their prices had risen dramatically and mussels were off the menu. The service continues to be excellent and it is reasonably quiet which is a plus for me but I will not be back for food that is just OK at high prices.
Our primary impression of Braddock's Rebellion was the noise level (very loud). We spent $70 (plus tip) for two entrees and one cocktail. The food was just okay, although the table service was very fast. Between the retro, mid-century decor and the hipster, alcohol-themed menu, it seemed like the kind of restaurant to which young people bring their parents or grandparents so the older generation can pay the bill.
Excellent waitress and food. A little noisy but festive.
Food was ok but nothing special for the price. Bread served was cold and dry. Too many other good options in town.
Food was excellent. Service non attentive. Could have spent more money here i.e. Desserts and after dinner drinks but there was only one waiter and he had several tables to care for.
We went before a show and it seemed as though there was only one waiter. He was very busy with about 12 tables. There were other staff helping, but the kitchen couldn’t keep up. It took an hour to get our food. This was my second time there and the first experience was positive.
I will possibly try this restaurant again because of limited restaurants being open on Sundays. But I will definitely give myself at least 2 hours before a show.
We were there on weekend...concert in town and wedding upstairs. Our wait staff was extremely over taxed...luckily we got there before the crowd. The server from kitchen must have been new..as twice she tried to deliver food to wrong table.
But both tables on either side of us came later and waited for everything....from ordering ,to water on table, complimentary bread plate and drinks. Food was good...but having to wait for everything was stressful. We walked to bar afterwards....and they had three people working there...which seemed crazy compared to dining room.
The food and service were not as good as we have previously experienced at Braddocks.
The food, as always, was delicious, but they keep cheapening the experience and offerings. Unlikely to go back for Thanksgiving next year since they removed a lot of the items offered in previous years. I don't go out for dinner to have cupcakes offered as dessert.
We had a very fine traditional Thanksgiving Dinner, with a whole uncut turkey being brought to our table. The turkey was moist and tasty.
Pleasantly surprised by a delicious Thanksgiving meal. Not your typical buffet. We had reservations and were seated quickly in a comfortable booth. Service was prompt. Especially enjoyed the chef carving the turkey tableside. It was a pleasant environment, nicely decorated with several families in attendance. If we were in Pittsburgh for the Thanksgiving holiday we would choose Braddock's Brasserie again.
This was our first visit and we loved it - every single thing. We had bruschetta as an appetizer, then a wedge salad and lobster ravioli.....all very fresh and tasted very homemade. Great service, quiet atmosphere. We were going to Heinz Hall after. This is a perfect stop before Heinz Hall. It is only about a 2 minute walk.
We came here during Light-Up Night - great dinner. My wife had the Pasta al Fredo - sauce was fantastic. I had the hangar steak - done just right.
Came back for brunch on Saturday morning - again excellent. lots of choices and the omelets were made-to-order.
Service both times was great - always there when you needed it but not at all intrusive.
The beet and goat cheese salad was excellent!! The short rib raviolis were good but there could have been less raviolis but more filling. Will was a very good waiter.
Large portions, food was fresh and had common menu items mixed with unique. Staff was very friendly and attentive. Modern decor mixed with traditional was pleasant atmosphere. Clean!
Went here for dinner before the recent Steelers game. I didn’t realize it was a hotel restaurant when I booked, but it managed to avoid the pitfalls of hotel restaurants. Food was great, portion sizes reasonable, service was quick and understanding of our timeline. I look forward to eating here again!
Excellet food and service. Pricey - with tip, $148 for dinner for two.
The food was wonderful. There were enough selections to satisfy everyone's food tastes. The servers were very attentive. We especially enjoyed the slow pace of dining. The waiter's were not intrusive and allowed plenty of time to make selections. I would recommend Braddock's to anyone who is looking for outstanding food and service.
Everything was cooked well and the waiter and waitress was excellent. I really like the taste of your coffee and bottle water!
We came to this restaurant because we were attending a show at a theater nearby. We were very pleased with our selections. My husband had to short rib ravioli and I had the pumpkin papperdelle pasta. We also each had a cocktail. My husband had the Charlie Brown, and I had the princess peach. Both were tasty although my husband felt that the whiskey was too overpowering in his drink.
Hubby also had for dessert the 21st amendment cobbler which was very very tasty. All in all we will definitely be back.
They have new, higher prices, and yet the menu has changed (boooo!) for the worse. This used to be a pre-theater fave. But now... (sigh) we will be looking elsewhere.
The food was very good from the quesadilla to the salmon to the filets. All five of us enjoyed our meals. Our waitress was very friendly and efficient. There was a club or party upstairs at the hotel and it was extremely loud and distracting. I’m not sure how often that happens.
We stayed in town for a Steelers Game. We live 5 hours away. We decided to have dinner in the hotel restaurant as we were travel weary. We were made to feel like old friends by the manager, waitress and staff. The bourbon selection was impressive and the food was amazing. Hubs had the pork shank and I had hangar steak the first night, and it was so good we went back the next night for more. We went with the pretzels and fondue for an appetizer, then for dinner I had the veal chop, he had the scallops. Again, perfection. We will come back to Pittsburgh just to visit Braddocks.
According to the server, the chef decided to take two of my favorite items off the menu, and yet it is still showing the old menu online! The wonderful crab cakes are no more and mussels and frites are also gone! My dinner and my friends dinner was mediocre at best. The bread was cold and tasteless, and the salmon was boring. Very disappointed. Will not return! BTW... it was expensive!
We ate here prior to attending a Pittsburgh Public Theater performance and thoroughly enjoyed our meals. 2 of us had the scallops with saffron risotto and it was melt in your mouth delicious. The other person had the grouper with roasted veggies and a potato cake and it was also excellent. Each of us had a cocktail that was excellent and creative. Our waitress Autumn gave us very good service. It was a delightful meal in a lovely atmosphere.
Reservations for 7 pm on a theatre night (not attending) caused some delay in being seated on time. 15 minute delay. Visited by manager to explain. Good service after that. Da restaurant emptied by 8 pm. Auiet and atemtivrxafter that. My bad. Choose times carefully and check other event schedule before choosing time, if flexible.
The restaurant was very crowded before several shows in town. Service from the kitchen was very slow for chicken and steak dinners. Picking the right menu items requiring the shortest cooking times was beneficial.
The restaurant was not well staffed. service was slow and the food was terrible.
Service slower than in the past. Wasn't crazy about the current menu,
