Braddock’s rebellion is convenient for dinner prior to a show at the Byham; that’s about it. The food was good, the wait staff very nice. The restaurant looks/feels old. It was chilly - seems air from the front doors to the hotel just rolls right in. But the worst was the kitchen time. Arrived on-time for a 6:00 PM reservation. Food was delivered to our table at 7:04 PM. No time for coffee or desert - we barely made it to our seats next door for a 7:30 show. Very disappointed.
Everything was good but not great. Service was pleasant but a bit slow. Tile floor and paper table cloths are fine, but limit the place's opportunity to feel upscale. Room is attractive, but very high ceilings and close tables limit the place's opportunity to feel intimate. Steaks were good but nothing special.
The place was very nice, drinks were delicious, and all our food was fantastic except for the dessert. The cobbler tasted well but was soup and not a cobbler at all.
We went before seeing a show at the Byam on a Thursday night. The chef was in the lobby preparing appetizers which he gave us for free —it was a rare strip steak over garlic mashed potatoes with deep fried onions. A nice surprise and very delicious. We shared the fried zucchini strips which were topped with a nice aged Parmesan! The marinara was chunky and the zucchini was from a local farm. I had amazing deep fried goat cheese & beet salad that was pickled with whiskey & a cheesy white Zinfandel soup. Lovely atmosphere inside the renaissance hotel. It was so cool to see the grand staircase and the beautiful ceiling.
Mushroom raviolis and sausage and cheese sauce, amazing!
Great location, good food, wine a little steep at 14$ a glass
Food was very good however we shared a dessert cookie sundae that was burnt on the bottom. We couldn't get our waiter as he was serving other patrons so we cut off the bottom and ate the rest. We did tell the waiter after we'd eaten the rest of the dessert and he didn't know what exactly to do. He asked if we wanted it deducted from our bill but since we'd eater part of the dessert we said no. We asked that the kitchen make sure they don't serve burnt items of their patrons.
For a busy weeknight, this place had Interesting cocktails, nice wine list, variety in the menu, delicious preparations, attentive service. Very nice place. Good experience. I would recommend fir dinner.
Great food and wine and wonderful service. The pretzel buns and mustard on the bread plate were amazing...
Food was delicious and came out super quick. Service was fantastic. We arrived at 12:15 and were done and out the door by 12:55. Excellent lunch spot.
The food was good, but the service was not great. To be fair, the restaurant and hotel seemed quite busy, but ... First, we were unable to use the valet parking because they were full, so we had to find a place to park and thus were a few minutes late for our reservation. The front desk agent promised to let the restaurant know, but I'm not sure if she did. Either way, the hostess didn't have a table ready for us and offered the 4 of us a booth they usually use for 3, though it ended up being fine. It took quite a while for the server to get to us, though she did stop by briefly to let us know she'd be over soon. Overall, there was quite a bit of time between courses, to the point that someone came by to ask if we wanted dessert menus before we had received our main courses. We had told our server that we had theater tickets, but she apparently forgot (though it might not have mattered). We didn't have time for dessert.
I took my parents here before a theater show because I remembered that they had liked it on a previous visit. Our server seemed to be new, and the service was not as good as usual. She didn't put in our appetizer, and brought me the wrong pasta special (which I ate anyway, and it was possibly better than what I had ordered). The restaurant seemed noisy when we first walked in, but it was quiet enough around our table that we were mostly able to have a conversation. The food was delicious, and we were done in plenty of time for our show.
The restaurant was very nice, and the staff at the restaurant was great. However, a wedding had been staged in the lobby of the hotel, and we had no way to get from our room to the restaurant for about 20 minutes. All the elevators were taken by wedding guests (one elevator was reserved for the bride) and the stairs were blocked because they were used by the wedding party. Since the restaurant is in the hotel, the issue should have been addressed.
As for the dining experience, it was very good. Great drink menu, good food choices, and helpful servers.
We had lunch prior to a show at the Benedum. Service was cordial and speedy... and delivery of food was prompt. I had the Sesame Rice bowl w/shrimp and my companion had the Thai Noodle bowl w/steak; both meals were excellent. I will definitely go there again!
I think we would have had a better experience if it wasn’t for them setting up for the evening. My husband and I were looking for an intimate evening for our date night but there was loud banging in the lobby putting together the dance floor. After that they mopped it and the strong chemical fumes from the mop made its way to our area while eating. Not very appetizing to say the least. The food and service were excellent, no complaints there. Just the ambience wasn’t as we expected.
Had a reservation at 6:15 before an 8:00 show. Should of made it earlier. Restaurant was not busy. We ordered drinks. Took awhile, server said they were “washing martini glasses”.... We ordered our food before we got our drinks... Food came out in a timely manor. Food was good, not great. Service was very good except for the drinks. Overall it was good, not great. Convenient if you’re going to the Byham for a show, just give yourself time...
Service and food were amazing!! Michelle was a doll! The only thing that was not okay was that the piped in music was way too loud. Not sure if we were seated right by a speaker but it was hard to hear our server and each other.
Food was delicious and service was great!
Always enjoy lunch here before a performance at the Benedum.
Sunday Brunch. Since we go here from time to time, I can say that the food here is best described as uneven. This time it was only adequate. We opted for the eggs benedict instead of the breakfast buffet. My eggs were not runny, the ham/Canadian bacon was tough and dry as if overcooked, the English muffin was soggy and the sauce scant. The hash browns, probably prepared for the buffet, were nice and crispy. The Bloody Mary was good, not overly spicy. The service was attentive, although my second cup of coffee was poured without asking me, so it was cold by the time I got to it.
We'll try again. Hopefully it will be better next time.
The occasion was meal with family before an event. We mentioned that fact more than TWICE to the waitress but she was VERY slow in taking our orders, delivering meals, (another male staff member delivered our meals) and delivering our check. We felt she was not as attentive as should have been nor cared about our voiced scheduled event. When she did come to the table she was animated but of course, that was what she was expected to be, not sincerely attentive.
The specialty of the day, crab cakes was okay, the squash with the risotto was good but bland, not memorable. Our appetizers, the cheese board was overpriced for the amount served. The wafer type bread, cheese selections and the one spiced salami meat selection were great!; just not enough for four guest (consider some other meat selections for this item) and the calamari was very good. Overall it was okay, not a dining event we would rave about to others.
Had not had a pork shank in years. This one was especially tender and flavorful with a delightful apple-based sauce. The sweet potato hash served with it was great also.
My wife and I were a bit put off by the fact that this is a (Marriott) hotel dining room. I do not need another Marriott meal. However, the food was was above standard Marriott fare (I'm a Marriott guy, and I love the hotel, but let's face it, the food is institutional). Anyway, the chef came out, and explained that he is not controlled by Marriott - he can do pretty much what he wants with certain guidelines. Well, he does a great job within those guidelines, as we had a great dinner. Would recommend to a friend.
We were very disappointed in the food. It wasn’t bad; It just wasn’t really good. The service was very good though.
The drinks and service were amazing. Starters (meat and cheese board and tomato bruschetta) were so delicious and dinner was fantastic.
The food was delicious. Presentation of food was excellent. Service was good.
Delicious food, and great service! I took my mother here for her birthday. Would recommend to anyone! I look forward to coming back.
Excellent service. Catered to our theater time. Food was all delicious. Nice specials
Was a great restaurant, and the food was well proportioned. Can't believe I am saying this, but the quesadilla dish as an appetizer is actually too large. maybe 4 max would be better. Almost was too much for the main course.
The decor was great. The service and ambience was excellent. The good was very good. A wonderful experience.
Stumbled upon this restaurant while in Pittsburgh. It’s the restaurant for the Renaissance Hotel, and the architecture is fabulous! Food was good but not great, service was slow.
Worst experience with a disorganized wait staff and kitchen I have ever encountered. And we were 2 of 6 people in the restuarant.
We ordered the meat and cheese plate which was great. Also had the ribeye and the scallops which were excellent as well. The risotto was a great side as well as the roasted vegetables. It made our anniversary weekend great.
Scallops were not seared and mushy. Soup was good. Drinks were good. I appreciated the gluten free bread. Fruit flies were bugging us. Kale looked like it was cooked earlier and not green or fresh. Overpriced. Did not realize until we arrived that it was a hotel restaurant.
Met with girlfriends for lunch after a nice downtown tour. Relaxing environment and we were able to chat comfortably. The menu had many great choices. Most of the girls had a salad based entree while I went wholeheartedly into the bourbon burger and fries. Everyone was in the clean plate club. Delicious. The wait staff was very accommodating and efficient catering to our every need while allowing us our space to chat.
Dinner before CLO musical “Oklahoma”
Pre-theatre. Very Good! Very attentive to theatre time.
Food was very good. This was our second time there and we were very impressed just like the first time!
Leisurely lunch before a show at the Benedum. We come here because good service gets us in and out in plenty of time to get to the show.
The food was hit or miss. What was good, was very good, calamari appetizer and scallop entree were delicious. However the steak tar tar was horrible. Admittedly, I did not share this with the server, I didn't want to make an issue of it but realize I should have politely shared that it was not good. The quality of the meat was not good, it was prepared in a way I've never seen tar tar prepared, it was very large chunks and not very tender and the presentation in the jar was extremely unappetizing. I saw another table ask for it to be taken away so they didn't like it either.
My other source of confusion is that the name of the restaurant changed slightly but a lot of the menu is similar to what it was when it was Braddock's Brasserie. Not to be unkind, but it seems this place just isn't sure what it wants to be. It's very convenient to cultural district which is why we were there, some of the food is good but with so many other places downtown, I may not return here.
We went for brunch and had the buffet. It was delicious with a lot of different offerings. I loved the prime rib and the sautéed perogies. Fantastic service completed our experience.
We used to dine at Braddock's regularly and always found it to be consistently excellent and a good value... but that was several years ago and it seems like something changed. My wife and I had to wait what seemed like forever for our second round of drinks (a Manhattan and a Martini) because they ran out of our liquor of choice. I would have gladly been given an alternate instead of having to wait for them to go and get more. For dinner I had the ribeye... it was marinated which was unusual since ribeyes are generally very flavorful. It was cooked to order, but the cut and flavor was underwhelming. My wife had the grouper special and it was overcooked and not delicious. I'd love to dine at Braddock's again since we've had such good experiences in the past and the atmosphere is excellent... I hope they get it together!
