I visited Brabo a couple years ago and their menu has changed but I highly recommend coming here for their brunch and get the eggs benedict on their gruyere potato cake! So delicious!!!
Having been here several times before under different chefs, first time dining with the newest chef, Ethan. After being greeted by a friendly host who immediately seated us, our congenial and very professional server was exceptional. We started off with an excellent hearty French onion soup and a plentiful petit salad with a light but flavorful vinaigrette followed by entrees of scallops and steak frites both cooked perfectly. We ended on a sweet note with the crème brulee and the special French cake, both very satisfying. We were happily surprised by the number of well-priced half bottles of superior wines on the wine list which worked perfectly to accompany a fish and meat entrée. Lovely atmosphere in the L'Orien Hotel. A wonderful choice for hotel guests as well as the locals.
Best halibut I ever had, diver scallops melt in your mouth Manhattans made well but a little pricey .,;not a bad thing on the menu !!
Surprisingly good! After a long day of touring, we didn’t want to leave the hotel so opted to eat at Brabo. We were pleasantly surprised! Food was delicious, service great, ambience and noise level great
Way too loud. Servings are awfully skimpy and no vegetable . Very pricey for small amount of food
Our party of three really enjoyed our birthday celebration at Brabo. The food and service were excellent. We had three different appetizers and three different entrees. The only item we had that disappointed was the side of artichoke hearts. I had not been to Brabo for several years because my last time it really was not anything special. This experience was so much better.
Outstanding meal at Brabo last night!
Husband enjoyed the venison, I had the mushroom fettuccine dish - we both loved our meals. Quality, first-class ingredients. Quality ingredients means a healthy meal!
Hats off to the chef (chefs) and kitchen, they are doing great work!
This was a great place to take a quasi-business dinner and the server/bar tender made the evening all the more special. He was consistently patient with us, gave meaningful, personal views on the drinks and meal selections, and went above and beyond when he heard mention of it being one of our diner's birthdays. All four of us got to experience Brabo for the first time and I can say that we will be going back.
One small note, the front seating area was a bit "cold" and oddly placed seating that didn't fit with the rest of the vibe. If you can, sit in the back and it seems you will have a more intimate experience worthy of the food selections and service.
Food is overpriced, either too bland, sweet, salty, etc. Way too loud. No valet parking. The waitstaff was unfriendly. We won’t be coming back.
A wonderful experience last night. Cocktails and wine selection was great and the food was fabulous!
Our server did an excellent job since they were short on staff
Food was delicious. We had Foie Gras and it was awesome
We had a delicious salad. One of us had venison which was done perfectly. The veal tenderloin medallions were also excellent
They have a great wine list. There are glasses of wine and also 1/2 bottles.
We would go back😊
The service was very slow. We believe they forgot about our order. My wife's pasta was more "pasta-watery" than creamy. The mussels were uninspired and the frites were generic.
Brabo is one of the best restaurants in old town! The food is some of the best food we have ever ate. You can tell the products are good quality and proper time is taken to prepare the best food possible. The wine selection is huge, they have something for everyone. The service is also amazing! We have never had a bad experience here and love everything about this restaurant.
Excellent food, great service, ample space between tables, good location near metro, fair pricing, nice portions.
Server was very nice, but not helpful at all. It was our first time at the restaurant, so we asked for recommendations but Marj said she never ate or tried the plates we asked about it (not her fault, management should allow servers to try all food so they can advise guests, my opinion at least). She did suggest the appetizer, foie Gras and it was delicious. But we were super disappointed with the entrees. So disappointed, I would never eat dinner here (maybe I would return for a drink, I tried the Millionaire something, I forget the exact name, but it was a nice), but that’s it. We ordered the Venison and Chicken for entrees, both lacked seasoning and any flavor. The chicken looked yummy, but tasted like nothing. And the side that it came with, was pointless, and had no flavor.
The food was terrific and our server, David, was outstanding, providing terrific service and knowledgeable suggestions.
It was a very nice meal with good service and good food. Definitely worth the visit. Fresh ingredients. Well prepared. Zero complaints.
Server was particularly wonderful. Attentive with great recommendations and very responsive to our requests. Made the evening feel special.
Great experience. Food was a good value for the price point, and atmosphere+service were great. Likely to become a regular spot for us.
Absolutely superb in every way! Signature cocktail an added bonus.
Went for restaurant week -- great deal, service, and the food was incredible!
We enjoyed the Restaurant Week specials. Excellent food, nice service. The only disappointment was that the patio was closed and we ate inside, not something we are comfortable doing during COVID, but the tables were spaced far apart.
We happened on BRABO for a date night during restaurant week and it met all our expectations. I had mussels, my boyfriend had the steak, everything was tasty, the service was fast and friendly and the drink list was extensive. We ordered the baguette with whipped butter as well and it was absolutely amazing…not kidding. I know, it’s “just bread” but oh my goodness, order it, you won’t be disappointed. My mussels were less expensive than I thought they’d be ($24, and it’s a LOT of mussels) and his steak frites was a bit more expensive than we thought it should be for the size of the steak ($38, but it was very good). Overall a wonderful experience!
This was our second time eating dinner here in two years and while the food is good, I feel as though it’s not worth the money as a high end restaurant.
Very intimate and elegant dining experience. The staff was really warm and friendly. Made amazing drinks, loved going here.
Service and food great -especially during Restaurant Week
Fantastic meal, absolutely no complaints. When presented the bill, which had the total plus tax. I provided the waiter with a State Dept tax exemption card. A revised bill was then given to me with the cost but a 20% gratuity had been added. Questionable practice, as I was prepared to provide a greater tip.
Brabo is one of our go to restaurants for fine dining in ALexandria, and restaurant week provides an opportunity for a Brabo experience at a value price. They offered both the $35 dinner for two and the $55 dinner for two. We had the $35 option and is was very good. Presentation, service, food quality, and special wine options for restaurant week were all done very well.
Went on RW. We had the duck confit which was flavourful and cook to perfection. For dessert, we had the profiteroles and warm chocolate cake which were nice.
We came to Brabo to celebrate our anniversary and were very pleased with the decision. We were greeted warmly on arrival, the tables were well spaced (!!) and our celebrations were acknowledged by the hostess as well as the waiter. The food was expertly cooked and the flavors were great. Nice wine list, wonderful food and service.
We were lucky to find out it was restaurant week which made for a great value. Everything was excellent, but the main courses in particular stood out: Short ribs with polenta, kale and red wine sauce were sinful. Also the NY Strip Steak was a lovely piece of meat and perfectly executed at the requested 125 degrees. The service was very attentive and friendly. Highly recommended.
We really enjoyed the dinner. My wife had the scallops, I had a great steak. Also shared fried artichoke hearts...not diet, but very tasty. Great wine as well.
Diver scallops were divine. Service was perfect. We highly recommend Brabo for terrific food and a delightful evening.
A very nice experience, excellent service, lovely patio dining, great menu choices and delicious food. My only concern is I thought the Duck Confit was a little tough, not as tender as in prior experience.
Our go to restaurant in Alexandria. Always has consistently great food. . . not just good, great!
Gabriel was the best!! sometimes waiters can make a difference in the experience. They are lucky to have him!
I liked the place. Muscles were tasty and the old fashioned was on point.
Went to celebrate and it was the right choice. I will return!
Despite being short staffed, I mean very short staffed, our server and the manager assisting him were phenomenal. The food was delicious, the service was fantastic - perfect anniversary dinner. Many many thanks!!
