Very good food in a quiet restaurant. We’ll definitely be back. Very pleased to see Foie Gras as an appetizer. My salt cod was very good and my companions all had the grilled octopus which they said was delicious. Thanks Brabo!
Manager and waiter provided excellent service!
Lovely restaurant. Overpriced on food and wine.. but it is a part of the package..great location. We had a great server.. very accommodative and pleasant. Overall, a great experience.. will be back acasionally!
Poor food. Ever wonder who could screw up a beet salad? Brabo. Really? Where was the chef? Obviously on vacation! Tasteless and Service was mediocre and rushed. Honestly not good food.
Thanksgiving Day! Sure a holiday meal in a restaurant can be tricky.
We've dined often at Brabo and always enjoyed the food & service. Our visit on Thursday felt so assembly line. Hadn't finished our cocktail when dinner started with our soup presented. Fast & unspecial I'd say. Waiters, if you're bored with holiday service don't work. As a matter of fact our waiter called it a 'carry out' day!!!😪
Too bad, Brabo, just don't do holidays - a special day- if you can't make it special.
Once again this year (fourth in a row) we celebrated Thanksgiving at Brabo - our tradition! The drinks were creative (Holiday Mule and Winter Old Fashioned); the meal was delicious - great Turkey and trimmings on their prix fixe holiday menu. A particular standout was the Potato Puree. Outstanding service provided by our waiter, Nigel, very attentive and helpful with selections. It was fun to have last year's waiter, Dave, stop by to wish us Happy Thanksgiving. This is a friendly, warm spot for a meal on a special day. Highly recommended!
We visited Brabo twice Thanksgiving week. Our first time was at the bar which opens at 5:00. Great signature cocktails, Carleton our bartender was fantastic and the charcuterie board was a fantastic deal at $8.00 for happy hour. We had a great experience and looked forward to our Thanksgiving 3-course fixed price dinner for $70/person later in the week. It was a huge disappointment! We left the restaurant starving. The scallops were so-so. My New York strip was MAYBE 2 ounces sliced and full of fat with a teaspoon of spinach and 7 dime-sized slices of potato. The worst? Apple Spice Cake dessert. Our table could barely choke it down. It was dry and tasted like cardboard. Our server barely smiled, disappeared forever, didn't wait until I tasted the wine before serving it to everyone else. All this and an $800 check! I'm not giving up 100% on Brabo yet. Our bar experience was so nice, and we will try again, not on a holiday though. Another disappointment though for us here and we Old Town Alexandria residents will not be back!
The Thanksgiving menu was good - more variety would've been appreciated, especially given the price. Our waiter was average, not particularly attentive once the order was placed. The food was delivered more quickly than we would've preferred and the turkey entree was not as warm as it should have been. The scallop starter and the chocolate dessert were delicious! The greeters were enthusiastic and friendly and the restrained and sophisticated decor provides a calm and quiet backdrop to the meal.
Food was good, a bit pricey for the limited Thanksgiving menu.
Very bland setting. Food is slightly above average but very expensive.noisy and very like a bland chain hotel restaurant. Disappointing.
Thanksgiving restaurant was a first for us. Glad we chose Brabo because it met all of our needs and we had a great time. The chestnut veloute was delicious.
Always an excellent dinner for special occasions and family gatherings. The day before Thanksgiving was not crowded and the waiter even brought out an unexpected dessert for my mother who was visiting us for the Holidays !
We always love Brabo, and I really like their recently redone dining areas. I love the 3 different ways you can dine. At the bar, in the more casual dining room just off the bar, and the more formal dining room. Great idea. Food was lovely, and we really liked our server, Dave. Highly recommend the place to all.
We enjoyed the entire experience and the service from Nigel was excellent! He made the evening enjoyable
A great addition to dining in Alexandria. The menu was creative and the food excellent. The staff was attentive and the sommelier extremely knowledgeable. Overall a great dining experience.
The service we had from Hassan was absolutely outstanding. Very attentive, warm and in command of the food and wine.
He truly was what a server should be at a restaurant.
The food impeccable that I went twice for dinner in less than a week.
The service was excellent. One meal was outstanding. The other was disappointing. Overall a very good experience.
My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience. The food was excellent; each of us ordered Lamb as our entree. Service was great, pleased with all.
The food was amazing and the service provided by our server, Hassan, was outstanding. We had the tasting menu with the wine tasting, and again, the food and service were phenomenal!
It was date night for my wife and I. We turned to a local favorite Brabo's Restaurant. We are regulars at Brabo's Tasting Room but when we want to take it up a few notches we go to the Restaurant for the complete dining experience. From the hostess to the waiter to the sommelier, the staff was exceptional. Everything we asked for was effortlessly and professionally provided. They split the Foie Gras for us...it was delightful. We had the Lamb from the tasting menu and the Venison. Both were prepared and presented flawlessly. We could not decide which was better. For dessert it was the Key Lime Delice with Tea. A perfect finish to the evening. We always go back and made reservations for Brabo's on Thanksgiving Day a month ago. The food and service is better than the price...a local gem.
It’s super over priced. Don’t get me wrong the food was good, but I doubt I’d go there to meet a girlfriend again. More of a date or special occasions restaurant.
Overpriced. Not a good value.
The food was really excellent.
Delicious and relaxed dinner.
The food and service were excellent. The waiter was able to accommodate special requests. The ambience was a little noisy but not so much that you couldn't hear your dining partner. Overall it was pricey, but an excellent choice for a special occasion.
Very smooth evening. Dining room is comfortable with good lighting. Staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating. Food was delicious. The restaurant has a nice open bar, a rustic brasserie room and an elegant dining room with enclosed Chef table. The adjacent tasting room was lively. Easy walk from King St. Metro. Best surprise, a glass of Champagne for the birthday girl ! Perfect with the dessert. Bravo.
Came here to celebrate a birthday on a Monday night at 8pm. Our server, Cosmo, was very helpful and friendly - I highly recommend him to any other patron! We opted for the tasting menu and a few a la carte items (bison tartar, black truffle brie, hangar steak and venison). Everything was prepared very well and I would definitely order the bison tartar, Brie (amazing flavor), lamb and venison. These dishes are certainly worth their value. On top of that, although it was not at all busy that night, the servers were very attentive and made the wait between dishes bearable.
We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner following the Sunday matinee at the Kennedy Center. Excellent service, creative menu - very relaxing way to end the weekend! We shall return!
Very nice ambiance and atmosphere that rivals NYC restaurants.
Overall a very nice experience in fine food, fine service, and a fine ambiance.
This was a perfect after-theater/romantic birthday dinner with my husband. We tried the chef's tasting menu of 5 items and opted out of the wine pairing, in lieu of the amazing cocktails. I was pretty blown away by the menu and how harmonious the flavors were. It was an extremely well-balanced menu that was complimented with excellent service. This is definitely a place to always have bookmarked if you're looking for a gold star dining experience in Northern Virginia.
We informed the server that my wife was celiac. In spite of this she was served gluten and was sickened
Lovely setting, excellent food and professional service! We made a reservation in the formal dining room, but the Brassiere looked so nice we can’t wait to go back and try that for a more casual - but classy Friday evening. BTW, the Brassiere menu is available in the dining room if you like that menu more. Our waiter Hassan was fantastic but everyone we encountered was friendly, courteous and professional .
Incredibly slow service. Out of many things on their menu. Shocking decline of a place that use to be great.
Two couples dined at Brabo for dinner on a busy Friday the mussel starter was well enjoyed. As was the foie gras. The mains were poached halibut (a bit bland), venison medallions (quite good) and a clasic hanger steak frites. Excellent specialty cocktails but none of us had desert. We will definitely do Brabo again.
My wife and I went to Brabo for our wedding anniversary, which the restaurant kindly marked with complementary glasses of fine sparkling wine. The five-course tasting menu proved quite satisfying, with delicious lamb chops the stand out dish. The wine pairings worked well, and the five pours were generous. A quite tasty evening.
My wife and I celebrated our anniversary at Brabo this weekend. We had impeccable service from the moment we entered the restaurant. The reviews and presentation online make it look a bit nicer than it was, and I was surprised to enter wearing a suit and find strollers with noisy children and parents in shorts. But-- know I know. Nearly every person we interacted with wished us a happy anniversary, and we had nothing but kind service. We were met with glasses of champagne, and dessert for our celebration. Above and beyond expectation.Thank you for a memorable experience and we'll look forward to seeing you again!
What a lovely experience! For our anniversary dinner we visited Brabo. After reviewing the menus, we indicated a preference for the Brasserie on our Open Table reservation. The hostess called to confirm our desired seating and that it was an anniversary dinner. The food was excellent - fluke carpaccio, brisket crostini, mussels, and grilled octopus on chickpea purée. Plus some gracious extras as anniversary "gifts" from the restaurant. There are more traditional choices on the menu, but we like interesting food, and the chef did not disappoint. Our server and the other staff we encountered were all personable and professional. There is nothing we would change about the experience. Wonderful!
Superbly prepared food. Great menu. Outstanding presentation.
The wait staff is phenomenal here. The menu is small with outstanding food
