   Atmosphere was typical 'hotel restaurant'. The chairs were awkwardly low to the table for all 4 of us and the bar area was distractedly loud. The food was flavorful and delicious, however the charcuterie board was very disappointing with a few pieces of meat, pate and a few tiny pickles, no cheese, nothing interesting, plating was basic. Bread, sides, and salad were extra charges. Overall, it was fine.

   We went to Brabo for a Mothers' Day fixed lunch menu. It is an attractive restaurant and some of the food was quite good; lobster bisque and short ribs. The veg polenta was boring and the salmon cake was just not good. The service was poor. We waited 15 minutes for anyone to come to the table at all. It seemed like all the servers had never waited tables before. They brought shared dishes to the table but no serving implements or plates. Huh? They would clear cutlery between courses and not replace it until we asked. They were also fairly sloppily dressed. The food and atmosphere were far more appealing that the servers. I'd give it a 'maybe' for a return visit, only because fixed menus often don't reflect a restaurant's best efforts.

   Beautiful atmosphere very fitting for Old Town Alexandria and nicely positioned on the quieter/quainter end of King Street. Short menu, but everything is meticulously prepared with great presentation. In general, the atmosphere was also quiet, I just happened to be sitting next to an obnoxiously loud woman who spoke at her companions about herself throughout my visit, but the brunch cocktails helped me get over it rather quickly :) Great staff and will certainly visit again.

   This has been a consistent, delicious restaurant in the past. Haven't been in a while and it was average. I do not eat seafood, so there are very few choices. I had the hamburger and it was very very rare. I asked for medium well. My husband had tuna and it was also undercooked. Service was fine, not extraordinary. The place was empty so that doesn't make for a nice atmosphere.

   In comparison to past visits this one wasn’t the best. The service was very slow and rather inattentive. My meal in particular was not as ordered and had to be sent back and remade. The drinks ordered when we sat down took a very long time to arrive (and all I ordered was a glass of champagne). The chef and waiter were apologetic and as I said this has not been my past experience at Brabo but I was there for my birthday and specifically chose this restaurant so it ended up being a very disappointing visit. Even more so because there weren’t alot of patrons in the restaurant so it’s isn’t make since that our food took so long and the server was so absent. I would go to Brabo again but I still think They need to be aware.

   This is a gorgeous restaurant located in Downtown Alexandria with a lovely ambiance for a quiet date night drink, but definitely do not recommend for the food. Our server was very welcoming and attentive as one can be servicing a room of three families and four couples--too many to provide the level of service I would expect at such a high end restaurant. My daughter and I ordered the escargot as an appetizer and much to our dismay there were a total of 4-5 pieces floating in a white wine sauce with chunks of ham in it--would have been good to know in advance as I don't eat pork and I'm half French and this is truly a first--who puts ham in escargot! So disappointing as we were truly looking forward to the garlic, parsley butter sauce it is usually prepared in. I ordered the mussels in wine sauce for my entree--mussels were undercooked, sauce was water thin and not very flavorful with exception of the over use of pepper. My daughter ordered the recommended entree of the day--an undercooked halibut with a carrot/vegetable garnish that was frankly, inedible--just not very good at a whopping $45 for the plate. Upon informing the server, he offered to cook us something else, but it was already late and we could not bear anything else that might come out of that kitchen and decided on dessert instead. The creme brulee was below average-- almost pasty, but the chocolate lava cake was to die for--best thing we ordered the entire night! Where each dish lacked in flavor it was made up in presentation. Everything was nicely plated--beautifully presented with edible flowers and lovely garnishes. Although, the server graciously credited us back for the entree of the day he highly recommended (the undercooked fish dish) I will not come back here again--truly disappointed with the lack of the rich French flavors I'm accustomed to and grew up eating.

    We went for dinner on a Tuesday night. Honestly, everything we had was delicious. My husband and myself consider ourselves foodies who love trying new places. Brabo is one of, if not, our best experience so far in Alexandria. We started with the beet salad, which was well balanced and light. My husband had the steak and I had the scallops, as well as a side of the bread/butter. All of the flavors were strong, but not overpowering. We finished with the creme brûlée and my husband said it was the best he's ever had. The one place where I don't think the value is quite worth it are the cocktails. I paid $19 for my gin cocktail, which honestly is one of the most expensive drinks I've ever had. I felt it was missing some nuance, despite having good quality ingredients. My husband loved his Negroni-style cocktail, and the glasses of wine we had were also good. In general, the drinks just feel a little overpriced but it's to be expected with a hotel restaurant. Definitely recommend for a good, rich meal.

    Brabo has certainly gone downhill. The service and attitude of the staff - both server and host - was a disappointment. We were ready to leave because the service was so poor. The food was just ok for the price point.

    I ordered the Duck confit, and was somewhat disappointed. I was expecting it to be very tender and come off the bone, but instead, it was a little tough. My friend had the Artic Char, and that was excellent, so was the tuna tartar for appetizer. Our waiter was very attentive and nice.

    We enjoyed the ambience of Brabo and the service was exceptional. Kristin was very knowledgeable and provided great suggestions. The cocktails and entrees were delicious and I highly recommend the Crème Brulee!

    I would like for them to marinate the rohan duck breast and not depend on the medium rare aesthetics to sway customers also the octopus could have swept me away if they brush up on cooking procedures for octopus on grill.

    We had a lovely time and delicious anniversary dinner at Brabo. Kicked things off with a Moscow mule, followed by the roasted beet and citrus salad and smoked salmon rillettes. For entrees, we opted for Rohan Duck Breast and Diver Scallops. For dessert, we shared a French vanilla crème brûlée. Our server was so pleasant and attentive which made our experience that much more enjoyable.

    The food was excellent. We ordered the scallops and the duck breast. Both were perfectly cooked with excellent accompaniment. We split a crème brûlée for dessert. Perfect custard with caramel. Service was prompt and friendly. Menu was reasonably priced for the quality. Ordered the kome polish raspberry porter. Would recommend all of the above.

    I am afraid that our most recent visit to Brabo will be our last. Having been many times over the years, we have watched with no degree of sadness the standards erode such that it is a shell of its former self. The service was exceptional, but everything else was simply sad. Eggs benedict with over-poached eggs and barely any hollandaise is just not a good dish. Doughy undercooked waffles served three tiny apple slivers? No thanks. It wasn't even close to being a meal worth eating, little less paying for. Here's hoping things change for the better.

    We went for brunch. The food was wonderful, but for the price the portions were very small. If you know that going into it it might be helpful…for example the waffles consisted of 3 small waffles equaling what would be one standard Eggo waffle and maybe a half.

    Although the price of the entree is more on the upper end the set up and ambiance is more casual. The menu selection is also limited. What we ordered was great and presentation was also nice. I just wish the ambiance and lighting was better.

    The food was excellent but not cheap. The service was good although the staff did not dress the part of a top notch restaurant. Like most restaurants today, they were short staffed. They had one person taking orders and another delivering food. It would be better to have each person be able to do both tasks. A simple task of getting mustard took two people to be involved.

    Great experience, food, service with Restaurant Week. The music in the bar was really loud, thumping, and distracting for the dining area, which had the guests talking really loud/yelling. Minor recommendation on the Escargot, killing the Gnocchi and heavy white sauce and go with a more traditional flare Escargot and curated herb sauce. The heavy sauce over-powered and drowned the Escargot and was overly filling for an appetizer.
