We had a gift card which they would not honor. They told us to call the corporate office.
Our favorite restaurant in Old Town, Brabo serves traditional French and American favorites with a twist - a bit of extra flavor and lovely presentation. Dinners of sea bass and steak, preceded with a shared arugula, pear and goat cheese salad, were just perfect for an evening meal. The cocktail and wine selection is well chosen. Being able to have an adult conversation in a charming space is definitely a plus. Service was prompt but not overbearing. A birthday surprise of baked alaska was definitely thoughtful and appreciated. Perfect for eating at the bar if you prefer.
Food and drink were very good except for old, stale dessert. Ambiance ruined by seating mother and active baby at next table even though there were many other vacant tables elsewhere.
The food was average at best, and certainly not aligned with the alleged Michelin-star rating of the chef or the price. We had an appetizer of grilled octopus that was over-charred and over-cooked. My entree was good, but not exceptional. But the desert was terrible. It was an eclair for two that was supposed to be caramelized white chocolate. The filling was not good, the crust was doughy, and overall it was so sweet it could have killed a diabetic.
Our server was very nice and attentive.
It was Alexandria restaurant week and my son wanted a restaurant we had not tried. We enjoyed the entire dinner and would recommend folks check it. The special cocktails were terrific
A wonderful experience as usual. We have made Brabo a tradition for special occasions and are never disappointed. The service is exceptional and we feel like we are being taken care of. Highly recommend.
Restaurants all do restaurant week differently. The best ones permit diners to choose from the main menu. Most offer a limited menu that is somewhere between mediocre to edible. Our meals fell in that range. The barramundi lacked flavor, the sauce for the short ribs was unintegrated and far too salty, and the strawberry tart was standard fare. The panna cotta was quite nice. As someone who has eaten at Brabo many times, this was a disappointing experience.
Great service and delicious food. They remembered to leave space for a stroller and to celebrate my husband’s birthday!
Brabo continues to offer an elegant dining experience with high quality food and service. This visit was part of Alexandria Restaurant Week and everything was first rate, from the greeting when we entered to the dining experience itself to the thank you from the staff as we were leaving.
We appreciated the specially priced wines that were offered and the Restaurant Week dinner selections were very good. We are enthusiastically looking forward to our next visit.
Very interesting presentation. Fresh foods including seafood locally obtained.
Restaurant Week made it quite noisy and busy. But upholstered arm chairs at table
made for a very relaxing seating arrangement for comfort and conversation.
Pretty reasonable on price. Upscale but not over the top. Expense worth it.
Service was very much excellent and attentive. A top choice in OLD TOWN Alexandria
Fantastic food. My beef che
Fabulous service and food!
Generally a good experience, and the food was delicious. We really appreciated the complimentary birthday dessert!
But the team service did not work as well as a single server. For example two minor examples: I ordered salad with dressing on the side, which had to be sent back to kitchen because it had a lot of dressing on it. It took a while to get coffee after we had ordered as well as to request refills. The server who took our order did not listen too closely. The other team servers were alert and cheerful.
Everything was fantastic!
Nice restaurant, good food and service. Really loud! Need some acoustical buffering. You cannot hear your seatmate. Makes for an anxious meal instead of relaxing. Otherwise, solid meal.
Had a great time checking out this restaurant for the first time during Alexandria's Restaurant week. Great service from the moment you walk into the moment you walk out! Looking forward to referring it to other friends and going back.
We waited for mire than an hour to get our food and the service was terrible.
Our first experience of Brabo was mostly good. Host was kind and friendly. Our waitress, Billie, was personable and also friendly. The food was wonderful albeit pricier than anticipated. The one great drawback was the wait between appetizer and entree. It was easily 40 minutes. Billie was kind enough to offer us glasses of sparkling wine, but we suspected it was also to compensate for the protracted wait. The food was delicious when it did come out, but the preparation of and quantity did not align with the wait timeframe.
Every so often we try to do the restaurant week. This was the best restaurant week experience we've ever had. The menu was fantastic. Often on restaurant week the restaurant will put forward the "B list" of grilled chicken or salmon, but Brabo had a fantastic menu and everything was incredible. We'll definitely be coming back for a "regular meal".
We went to Brabo for restaurant week and they had a delicious menu. The service was excellent and we enjoyed a quiet spot by the window.
Food was very good (mussels and bacon-wrapped monkfish). Service was excellent. Ambiance leaves much to be desired. Old Fashioned was well composed and worth the $16, however the same $16 for a glass of house Cab was a bit stupid.
Visited for restaurant week! Not a bad menu, duck salad, fish entree and dessert were all very good. My Dad's dessert had nice plating. Server was friendly and nice. Complimentary valet was a plus, it's hard to park in the area. Will keep on the list for future.
Wonderful food and service. Great place if staying at the Kimpton.
Out meal was very good and the service was good. However, the dessert was not good and the beer selection was basic.
You have an outstanding server, Billie. She was wonderful. Your restaurant and the food were just as great as we anticipated. We were placed at a table that was in the quiet area. Unfortunately, the obviously unmarried couple at the next table worked overtime to prove how much fun they were having together. They must have been exhausted at the end of the night. We really enjoyed our time at Brabo, far more than the pretenders at the next table. See you again. Carol and I hope you folks are enormously successful.
Great service and high quality food and preparation!
The sea bass was dry as leather and the steak ordered rare was just as bad. A real disappointment.
Perfect dinner! Everything was delicious and the service was outstanding!
This place has really gone down hill- we used to come here every few months and always enjoyed it. We had not been for about 1.5-2yrs and will not be returning. Start with the good- the service was good! Our waiter was attentive without being overly attentive but he should have been since there was basically no one else there on a Friday night. The menu is greatly reduced from it used to be and has limited choices. The food was very average, not horrendous but not excellent in anyway. Even the great was just ok. The vibe has changed too - it is more “casual” which is fine but over all it now has a hotel restaurant feel not a unique quality restaurant that happens to be attached to a hotel. The dessert menu is so lacking we didn’t even order and we always split a dessert on date night. I found out after we left that it had been sold and is no longer owned by Robert W and I could tell - that is not necessarily a bad thing to change hands but this change does not work for me and my husband and judging by the emptiness, not many others either
This was our second time at Brabo. It was a lovely night so many of their customers were dining in the outside area. So the inside where we were was very quiet. Conversing with our guests was easy. And the service was perfect....just the right amount of time to enjoy our first glass of wine and the appetizers before the main entrees were served. I will surely return soon.
Great customer service, excellent mussels and any interesting menu that changes periodically. Love the ambiance. My spouse and I have come to Brabo for our anniversary several times and for other meals. A gem in Old Town Alexandria.
It was phenomenal and the food was exquisite. The staff was great as well.
Food was good but not worth the high prices. Have had much better baked Alaska. It was a birthday dinner and they really did not do much to make it special.
Excellent food and friendly service- wish it could have been quieter! Will try again soon for dinner. Very good menu for brunch.
Service was spotty. No saucers for coffee cups! Was the dishwasher broken? No refills offered on coffee. Food was good but overall not up to past visits
Our brunch at Brabo was a delightful respite from a crazy week. The crab omelette was light and fluffy, and the crepes were delicious. We'd go back next time we visit DC for sure.
Joseph and Dave took very good care of us. Dave was able to customize a menu option with no additional cost.
Beautiful envisioning. Friendly staff. And delicious food! Highly recommend. Thank you!!
Brabo's food is still excellent. The mussels was probably the freshest we ever had, and we have made the rounds of nice restaurants. The beek cheeks bourguignon was sumptuous.
