We’ve come here semi regularly and usually have a great experience. This one was very disappointing. The service was very good and cordial. But despite a quiet night, the food came slowly. Steaks we ordered rare came out well done, and mussels were cold. Drinks didn’t come out as ordered The staff apologized and the restaurant did take care of the entrees, which we appreciated. We want to come back and give the place another try but it was a serious off night.
Really good dinner. Always an enjoyable meal.
We really enjoyed our dinner and the food was excellent as was the wait staff.
It was our first Thanksgiving dinner in the US. And was the best choice for this year. I will return to this place in the future.
Really amazing dinner for Thanksgiving, served family style. Even the leftovers a few days later were yummy! We thought the selection, the ways it was brought to the table, the overall ambience and service, were all spectacular. Loved the steak on the meat section even better than the delicious turkey! Thanks for a memorable Thanksgiving Day!
Thanksgiving family style dinner was delicious and so easy! Soup and salad starters were great, turkey platter with all the fixings was presented beautifully and everything was really tasty. Steak was perfectly cooked and flavorful. Monkfish was good (not great) and the flavor profile really didn’t go with the rest of the meal. Pumpkin mousse was yummy but the slices were too big. Berry cobbler was the better of the two desserts and could have been more generous for three people.
Waited a year to come back here on our anniversary. The oysters on the half shell were awesome large tasty. My husband had the calamari that was just OK. Our waiter operated more like he was in a soup kitchen running back-and-forth not very attentive. I got the $32 halibut. It was lukewarm. My husband’s medium well burger was rare so we had to send both dishes back. my husband’s burger which he ordered medium well came back over well done and my halibut came back warm but dried out. We were very disappointed.
We had a marvelous meal! The sea bass was delicious. We had extra side dishes of roasted beets and roasted pumpkin. Oh my .... they were delicious! We had the white mousse and creme brûlée for dessert. We so enjoyed ever aspect of our dinner. We are going back soon!
Amazing! Everything from food to service was great.
Excellent food and drink. The cheese plate was fabulous and they accommodated gluten intolerance.
We loved it! The exceptional service made us feel like we were in a 5 star restaurant. And the food was excellent. The price was shockingly affordable for the high quality of service and food, especially when starting out with Happy Hour wine and appetizers. For a special occasion meal, we will definitely be back!
It's a great place for a business dinner, and the ambiance/service is great. The food was fair.
Food was good....but expected a more realistic Belgian Brasserie experience. They don’t have any Belgian style beers?!?! Frites were not thin and crispy. Even though I asked them to make the frites extra crispy, they came out the exact same way as the person I was with received them. Muscles and Steaks were very good.
outstanding food, artisan drinks and Sunday brunch wine pairing/tasting on point
Always a good choice.
Food was mediocre at best. Definitely avoid the lobster gratinée which was over cooked, fishy and full of more green slime than actual meat. To top it off, all of their high priced entrees were served with a side of fries (yep, you heard that right - lobster and french fries). I know it’s a hotel restaurant, but they used to be better than that. It’s been a go-to spot in the past for celebration dinners, but it’s time to find a new option.
They really made my husband's birthday feel special. It was a great evening and the complimentary bread is fabulous.
Nice ambience and great food.
can't go wrong with this place. aside from a louder than necessary space, the food is scrumptious and the staff treat you like royalty
Outstanding service and great menu! We felt like the staff truly wanted us to have a special evening. THANKS!
Food and service were both outstanding! Goat cheese and pear salad is wonderful. I had a delicious sea bass entree, while my husband had short rib. Both were great. The short rib was wrapped around some sort of delicious pepper -- unique and very tasty. Cheese of the day and dessert were also excellent. Hostess and servers went out of their way to make sure we had an enjoyable experience. Highly recommend.
Been awhile since we tried Brabo but was excited to go there again after several years since we were in town with out of town guests visiting DC. Staff were excellent greeting us and getting us settled in. Had drinks at their beautiful bar prior to moving to table for dinner. Menu was nice with lots of nice selections for all. We ordered the lamb shank, pan seared sea bass and duck. The lamb and fish were prepared perfectly and very tasty. However, the duck was not. It arrived as two huge, thick breasts one piled on the other with sides and very rare. We had to send it back to have it thinly sliced the way it should have been served but it was still so rare it was bleeding so ended up having it boxed to take away. As a side note: Had it next day for lunch after pan searing it. Overall dining experience was very good but definitely need to re-think how the duck entree is served.
We frequent Brabo when in the area. 4 of us had a lovely night. Food is always excellent. Service is attentive and helpful. Cocktails are delicious. The only reason I rated it moderately loud is because as it gets later, there are more people in the space. But even with that, it’s not like some places where you can’t hear. It’s just vibrant. Not a problem. Highly, highly recommend.
This was a perfect dinner with a girl friend as we celebrated my birthday. The service was impeccable!!
Husband and I came for dinner to celebrate my birthday. Food was delicious and well presented. The smaller portion of cheese and charcuterie was generous and well chosen. I had the Mussels Marinierre and it was wonderful. Our waiter surprised us with the baked Alaska dessert for my birthday!! All in all it was a wonderful evening.
Best brunch spot in Old Town, the steak frites and crepes and amazing, also the crab omelet.
Great cocktail list. Appetizers, small pates and meals are all good, but considering the price expected a bit more.
Excellent meal and service. Enjoyed some outstanding specialty cocktails with the octopus starter and charcuterie plate. Perfect entrees finished off with Baked Alaska. Highly recommend for an elegant experience!
The brasserie is a nice classy space. The classic food selection was great and our dishes came out promptly. Our waiter Matthew was very courteous and attentive. We had a lovely brunch.
The restaurant and food was good as always.
I had made the reservation for 9/21/2019 at 6:15 pm (1000 point bonus).
I was late by 5 minutes due to traffic and I had called the restaurant to let them know ahead of time.
The restaurant changed my reservation time to 6:30 pm (100 points).
We had a gift card which they would not honor. They told us to call the corporate office.
Our favorite restaurant in Old Town, Brabo serves traditional French and American favorites with a twist - a bit of extra flavor and lovely presentation. Dinners of sea bass and steak, preceded with a shared arugula, pear and goat cheese salad, were just perfect for an evening meal. The cocktail and wine selection is well chosen. Being able to have an adult conversation in a charming space is definitely a plus. Service was prompt but not overbearing. A birthday surprise of baked alaska was definitely thoughtful and appreciated. Perfect for eating at the bar if you prefer.
Food and drink were very good except for old, stale dessert. Ambiance ruined by seating mother and active baby at next table even though there were many other vacant tables elsewhere.
The food was average at best, and certainly not aligned with the alleged Michelin-star rating of the chef or the price. We had an appetizer of grilled octopus that was over-charred and over-cooked. My entree was good, but not exceptional. But the desert was terrible. It was an eclair for two that was supposed to be caramelized white chocolate. The filling was not good, the crust was doughy, and overall it was so sweet it could have killed a diabetic.
Our server was very nice and attentive.
It was Alexandria restaurant week and my son wanted a restaurant we had not tried. We enjoyed the entire dinner and would recommend folks check it. The special cocktails were terrific
A wonderful experience as usual. We have made Brabo a tradition for special occasions and are never disappointed. The service is exceptional and we feel like we are being taken care of. Highly recommend.
Restaurants all do restaurant week differently. The best ones permit diners to choose from the main menu. Most offer a limited menu that is somewhere between mediocre to edible. Our meals fell in that range. The barramundi lacked flavor, the sauce for the short ribs was unintegrated and far too salty, and the strawberry tart was standard fare. The panna cotta was quite nice. As someone who has eaten at Brabo many times, this was a disappointing experience.
Great service and delicious food. They remembered to leave space for a stroller and to celebrate my husband’s birthday!
Brabo continues to offer an elegant dining experience with high quality food and service. This visit was part of Alexandria Restaurant Week and everything was first rate, from the greeting when we entered to the dining experience itself to the thank you from the staff as we were leaving.
We appreciated the specially priced wines that were offered and the Restaurant Week dinner selections were very good. We are enthusiastically looking forward to our next visit.
