Food was great, service a bit slow, probably because understaffed, but it was way too noisy. Even though the restaurant wasn't full, it was hard to carry on a conversation in our table of four. With low ceilings, there may not be too much it can do to lessen the decibel level - but rugs, table cloths, some on the calls other than mirrors might help. One of the four at our table is an architect -- she had a lot of ideas. Anyway, despite the great food, we won't be back soon.

Great ambiance, sat outside for restaurant week with some friends. Had great service. The french onion fondue (soup) was excellent. Aside from that, felt the food was a tad overpriced but overall great experience.

It was either very quiet when people left or very noisy with people around, there was no music inside so it felt awkward when everyone went silent. Our busboy did a poor job as he got 3 of our entrées before the appetizers and when we started eating the staff informed us those were for another table not us, we did get the first round of drinks compensated for that error. The bartender took very long - overall we were at the restaurant for over 3 hours just waiting for the food and drinks. Might recommend going on a weekday when they are fully staffed.

Food and service are above average with noise level acceptable since there were very few people in the restaurant. Drinks were not according to any bar menu I have encountered. Prices were OK for the quality of the food which was generally above average although a bit too salty for all four of us. The ambiance was more akin to a cafeteria than to an upscale dining facility. I have been to this restaurant pre-Covid. Tablecloths and a more posh atmosphere prevailed then. My only real complaint was the sticky table surface. I owned a restaurant and can tell you this is the result of a surface that has not been properly cleaned.

Very diminished since COVID. Restaurant used to be attractive and well appointed, white table cloths, etc. Now bare wood tables (ours was very visibly scratched) and room had disheveled appearance. Menu has been greatly reduced. Service was poor. Entrees had not been properly conveyed to kitchen, so my wife received a completely different dish to the Diver scallops ordered. She received a pot of mussels but no plate nor a spoon for juices. I did not receive a steak knife. At end of meal we were ignored by only server who was conducting a long conversation at another table. In clearing table, server inquired about our interest in seeing a dessert menu, to which we responded positively. After several minutes, the server arrived with our check, not the dessert menu. Do not think we will return any time soon.

The service was GREAT! The waitress was so helpful with the area and where to go. My wife had the Grilled Tuna and the tuna was not butchered properly and had silver skin in it. I had the Duck Leg Confit and it was good but a tad on the dry side. For the appetizer we had time Portuguese Mussels, just outstanding.

I was expecting something a little more fancy for brunch on a saturday. The entire restaurant was not busy only a few customers but they had my friend and I sitting next to a group of 10 most of the time and so the experience was not that great. It would have been nicer to have a quieter corner to sit in. The food was not expensive which usually means basic brunch so I guess we received what we paid for. But if they want bigger crowds maybe they can work on creating a nicer brunch spread. I had been here before for lunch and was very impressed. So my return for brunch took it back down a notch.

At first my son was disappointed as the menu had just changed that day, and he had his heart set on the carbonara. He was not disappointed for long after trying the bolognese. We also had the Portuguese style mussels, duck confit, and wagyu cheeseburger. We started with sautéed foie gras and onion fondue. Both were delicious. The mussels, which they are known for, were amazing and plentiful! We all were spooning up the broth. The duck confit which was fall off the bone fantastic, came with perfectly crispy frites. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable as well as attentive.

The entrees all came out at different times - we had to ask twice to get each person’s meal. The first entrees were served 10 minutes before the last. The food was fine, but not great - certainly not good enough to justify the high prices. Brabo Tasting Room was great years ago but is now closed. As for Brabo, there are so many other great places to eat in Old Town - I’d skip it.

We did not expect a menu with French Basque country influence. We loved the choices that are offered, I don't think you could make a wrong choice. The chef is outstanding for several reasons beyond the great food. I made the mistake of ordering a dish that had mussels, that I can't eat because of a food allergy. Our server, Kristina and the Chef collaborated to make me a specially designed meal, Côte Basque with iberico chorizo, 'Nduja, piperade reduction. I still can't stop thinking about it, three days after eating there. The next time I am back in town for business I will come back just for that meal. Great service and excellent food.

We were here for brunch. 3 had omelettes and declared them as good as any they have had anywhere. I had the Wagyu burger - amazing. Juicy even cooked well, with subtle smokiness. Nice crisp frites. Only constructive criticism would be there was no cream for the coffee, only milk. Waiter was a little unsure whether dessert was available at brunch, but otherwise service excellent, and we were not rushed. We will come back for dinner.

Love Brabo, been there many times. The quality of the food is always terrific and the drinks are outstanding. The service staff are great too. Only complaint is the prices are a bit higher.

This was my first time at Brabo and I wanted to make sure my date had a good time--definitely did not disappoint all around. I got the scallop risotto and it was exquisite with the perfect portion size. Our waiter was very kind and prompt as well, and the outside seating after dinner was very relaxing. I would recommend this spot for a quaint date night for tasty food and a calm environment.

Atmosphere was typical 'hotel restaurant'. The chairs were awkwardly low to the table for all 4 of us and the bar area was distractedly loud. The food was flavorful and delicious, however the charcuterie board was very disappointing with a few pieces of meat, pate and a few tiny pickles, no cheese, nothing interesting, plating was basic. Bread, sides, and salad were extra charges. Overall, it was fine.

We went to Brabo for a Mothers' Day fixed lunch menu. It is an attractive restaurant and some of the food was quite good; lobster bisque and short ribs. The veg polenta was boring and the salmon cake was just not good. The service was poor. We waited 15 minutes for anyone to come to the table at all. It seemed like all the servers had never waited tables before. They brought shared dishes to the table but no serving implements or plates. Huh? They would clear cutlery between courses and not replace it until we asked. They were also fairly sloppily dressed. The food and atmosphere were far more appealing that the servers. I'd give it a 'maybe' for a return visit, only because fixed menus often don't reflect a restaurant's best efforts.

Beautiful atmosphere very fitting for Old Town Alexandria and nicely positioned on the quieter/quainter end of King Street. Short menu, but everything is meticulously prepared with great presentation. In general, the atmosphere was also quiet, I just happened to be sitting next to an obnoxiously loud woman who spoke at her companions about herself throughout my visit, but the brunch cocktails helped me get over it rather quickly :) Great staff and will certainly visit again.

This has been a consistent, delicious restaurant in the past. Haven't been in a while and it was average. I do not eat seafood, so there are very few choices. I had the hamburger and it was very very rare. I asked for medium well. My husband had tuna and it was also undercooked. Service was fine, not extraordinary. The place was empty so that doesn't make for a nice atmosphere.

In comparison to past visits this one wasn’t the best. The service was very slow and rather inattentive. My meal in particular was not as ordered and had to be sent back and remade. The drinks ordered when we sat down took a very long time to arrive (and all I ordered was a glass of champagne). The chef and waiter were apologetic and as I said this has not been my past experience at Brabo but I was there for my birthday and specifically chose this restaurant so it ended up being a very disappointing visit. Even more so because there weren’t alot of patrons in the restaurant so it’s isn’t make since that our food took so long and the server was so absent. I would go to Brabo again but I still think They need to be aware.

This is a gorgeous restaurant located in Downtown Alexandria with a lovely ambiance for a quiet date night drink, but definitely do not recommend for the food. Our server was very welcoming and attentive as one can be servicing a room of three families and four couples--too many to provide the level of service I would expect at such a high end restaurant. My daughter and I ordered the escargot as an appetizer and much to our dismay there were a total of 4-5 pieces floating in a white wine sauce with chunks of ham in it--would have been good to know in advance as I don't eat pork and I'm half French and this is truly a first--who puts ham in escargot! So disappointing as we were truly looking forward to the garlic, parsley butter sauce it is usually prepared in. I ordered the mussels in wine sauce for my entree--mussels were undercooked, sauce was water thin and not very flavorful with exception of the over use of pepper. My daughter ordered the recommended entree of the day--an undercooked halibut with a carrot/vegetable garnish that was frankly, inedible--just not very good at a whopping $45 for the plate. Upon informing the server, he offered to cook us something else, but it was already late and we could not bear anything else that might come out of that kitchen and decided on dessert instead. The creme brulee was below average-- almost pasty, but the chocolate lava cake was to die for--best thing we ordered the entire night! Where each dish lacked in flavor it was made up in presentation. Everything was nicely plated--beautifully presented with edible flowers and lovely garnishes. Although, the server graciously credited us back for the entree of the day he highly recommended (the undercooked fish dish) I will not come back here again--truly disappointed with the lack of the rich French flavors I'm accustomed to and grew up eating.
