Boxwood was excellent. Look forward to coming back again when back in town. We came with a group of 12 and our server was amazing, super helpful and the food was delicious. Loved it!
So delicious! From the brussel sprouts to the entrees, yummy all the way. The meatballs with the polenta, to die for!
Highly recommend the Boxwood Kitchen. Start with the rolls and fondue which were delicious. The kale salad was slightly limp, but the main courses exceptional. Handmade pasta, steak and schnitzel were all fantastic. Good cocktails too.
Overall this is a very good place for comfort food. Among the four of us, we enjoyed the Braissed Beef, Baby Back Ribs, Spatzle Mac 'N' Cheese and the Brussel Sprouts may be the best in town. But the Steak Frites (hanger steak) was kind of tough. While the service was excellent, I felt the prices were a little on the high side and the limited menu selections a little on the heavy side. I plan to try them again for lunch or brunch. But I'd like to see them have more lighter and less expensive options on the main menu during the summer before coming back for dinner. I'd go back for the Mac 'N' Cheese in the fall.
Special dinner for my bday with nothing special done.
Im sorry that no one did anything special for you:( We do our best, but were human... Always helpful if someone your with mentions it to the staff. Hope you had a nice time otherwise. Happy belated Birthday!
Although the food, once we got it, was pretty good for me (my companion did not think her steak was cooked as requested), the kitchen seemed to be in disarray. We were there for about a half an hour in which NOTHING came out of the kitchen. For a majority of the restaurant, which filled up as we sat and waited for our food, no one had food on their table. I have had better luck in the past at this restaurant, hopefully the glitch is temporary and they will get it back together.
We had a very rough night, Dishwasher didn't show up and I (chef and owner) had to fill in. This was hard on the kitchen and that combined with the Lyle Lovette show being postponed brought a wave of people all at once and it was challenging. A restaurant is on display for everyone to see and judge, and were not always perfect but we try very hard. Im sorry you were disappointed. Your understanding is greatly appreciated.
Great food, easygoing atmosphere. Prices were much higher for entrees than what I anticipated and or thought would have been reasonable. My group ended up splitting shared plates because of it. Other than meal prices, everything about the visit was good. Our food tasted great and service was fantastic.
Overall, we enjoyed our dinner very much. We had a reservation and were seated immediately. The food was delicious and the service perfect. I never felt felt rushed, our server let us set the pace for the meal. The only concern was the noise level, which like most restaurants in this town, was quite loud. I felt like we added to that level because we had to talk louder to conduct a conversation. I definitely would return, but maybe sit outside where it would be quieter.
We were out and about for a bachelorette party and received amazing service! The food was delicious, and the free bottle of bubbly was much appreciated. We would definitely come back
We love Boxwood Kitchen!
We took my in-laws there for dinner and they were both pleasantly surprised. Previously, they had seen reviews saying it was loud and didn't feature cloth tablecloths, so they had sort of discounted it. After this experience, I am sure they'll be back, and we'll continue to bring family and friends there too :)
Food was terrible and expensive!!! Never going back...
Grad dinner. Very accommodating. Our daughter is vegan and they went out of their way to accommodate her dietary needs.
A comfortable setting with superb, innovative food and friendly attentive service.
After a stop by Naked Wine we were recommended this new-ish place for dinner. We had a delicious meal and great service! I had the monkfish which had just the right amount of sauce and the rice was amazing. Hubby had the bolognese and asked that they never change it! A lot of in-house prep and locally sourced goods. The short wine list was on point. Will def be back.
Great find! Loved the excellent flavors in all the dishes we ordered. Recommend the spring pea bruschetta.
Excellent fun time great food and service nice energy
First time to the Boxwood Kitchen for 7 in our party. Since it was just written up for the best burger in town we were surprised the burger was not on the dinner menu only available for lunch. The atmosphere has a fun vibe, but very poor acoustics so conversations were difficult. Service could be improved upon. The 4 who had the Bolognese said their food was great, the other 3 would not order the what they had again.
Our server Nicki was amazing, she went above and beyond! Everything was great. The ribs, house salad, and monk fish were beyond delicious. and the artistic presentation was inspired. Absolutely my favorite restaurant in bend!
Excellent food. The noise level was a little high, however.
Gotta have the Brussel Sprouts👍‼️
The service was outstanding👏
We had a wonderful meal. Every bite was excellent. The seasonal Salad was very creative. Brussel sprouts with hoisin and sesame seeds best we’ve eaten. Home made rolls are worth ordering. We had the beef and Korean ribs. Very flavorful. Our waiter, Brian, was personable, helpful with our menu choices, and a lot of fun. We are recommending Boxwood Kitchen to all our friends.
Very loud and room temp seemingly pushing ninety . Hangers steak and side served cold. Side greens so salty could not eat.
Rib dish nicely done as was the braised rib dish. Ambiance such a negative factor I would not return.
This was our first dinner experience, however, we have dined there for lunch on two occasions. Service and food top notch. The noise level was the only drawback since the facility was full at that hour (6:30 pm). We definitely would recommend Boxwood to our friends, and have done so in the past.
Everything we had was AMAZING! We will be back soon to try some other items!!! In our opinion - beat food in town!!!
Very noisy inside. Great tasting food. Menu very limited but variety of items good. Will definitely return.
Liked the menu options and the good is good. Great service but it’s very loud. They need to the-think acoustics. Hard to have a conversation.
Very relaxed environment with a friendly, attentive staff. Each dish was memorable for our group of foodies, and we would know because we ordered a lot of them! You cannot go wrong here. I was particularly smitten with the brussels sprouts and kale caesar for starters, and the monkfish entree. Do not miss the dinner rolls!
It is difficult to hear your date speaking due to the large amount of ambient noise in the restaurant.
Great food and
Love Boxwood. Much needed option at the Old Mill. Please add noise absorption panels if possible. A touch noisy when full!
Great service, great food! We really enjoyed the evening and the Brussels are amazing! Thank you Eric for the hospitality
1st visit, won’t be the last. Excellent service, great food, great vibe.
The energetic noise level made it difficult to hear each other.
Always so good. This is one of those places where you say "mmmmm" after each bite and then realize it may be bothering the rest of the table. Had brunch outside, which was lovely. Drinks were fairly priced so we enjoyed a couple each.
One of the best places in Bend to eat... Period! There's only handful of places in town where you feel welcomed with genuine service and scratch food prepared properly... this is one of them. Highly recommended
Great menu with inventive offerings. And a nice variety. We recently went with a family who I wouldn’t classify as foodies. But they all seemed to find something on the menu they liked. The ambiance is nice and it feels spacious. My one nit is the seating. The chairs, for a full grown man, are not comfortable. And I suspect if you were really fat you probably couldn’t sit in them at all. But we’ve been back numerous times so the food is good enough to ignore them. But all things being equal I might pick a place that’s a bit more comfortable next time.
They are very nice and trying very hard. But a gin and tonic shouldn’t have surprise Campari in it. And your potato side have surprise mushrooms in it. The potato was very dry, despite having said mushrooms in the center. The steak was quite lovely. The meatballs were super heavy and why use burrata if you’re going to melt it?
Or dinners were very, very good; and service was excellent. The restaurant is a bit noisy, but not too much. My hanger steak was superb, just perfect medium to rare. My wife's bolognese also was very good. The wine list is limited, but our wine was quite good. We recommend this new restaurant.
The food is really good - Those Brussels sprouts are little gems of deliciousness and the fresh yeast rolls and butter are the perfect complement. Yum!
