We were wowed, plain and simple, by this place. From the moment we walked in until we left, we had great, personable, and attentive service. The food was delicious- I had the foie gras and sea bass. My friend had the French onion soup and a steak. We had just been at a very lauded and highly rated restaurant in Helena the night before and his steak was so much better at the Boxcar. We loved trying the wines paired with the dishes as well as off of the dessert wine menu. Interesting and unexpected selections. Can’t wait to come back!

The ambience is wonderful, especially in the first room. Our waitress was excellent, just the right amount of attention. The food was delicious, yet when you say a dish has vegetables (plural) you really need to give more than a single broccolini. For the price, more vegetables would make a nice meal wonderful. The prices are little high but for an occasional evening out, usually worth the ambience and meal. The single broccolini and 4 small beans just looked cheap.
