Bowdies Chophouse - Lansing
Outstanding meal with a well-seasoned waitress. Took my best friend out for her birthday and she was very pleased with this choice! Neither one of us had eaten here before. It is pricey, but suitable for a special occasion.
Excellent customer service! Excellent food! Everything was fabulous.
One of the best meals all 6 of us have ever had. Our server was amazing; she had great wine recommendations, was friendly, and knowledgeable. The all of the food was absolutely perfect!
They really do a great job preparing the meat, just the temp you ask for and very tasty. A criticism I have has to do with the shareable dishes. There isn't information as to how the veggie is prepared, e.g. cheese on top of the brussel sprouts. The ambience is a bit wanting. It is so... dark inside that it is a bit disarming (thus not as relaxing as it could be). Noise level will vary as to the size of groups dining at the time; we just happen to have two large groups present this last visit but our visit at an earlier date was not as noisy. The cost is probably competitive with other top steak houses. You'll want a reservation.
Usually a very good place for steak and one of our favorites in Lansing and in Saugatuk. This nite my medium steak came out rare and it took two returns to the grill to get it right. Good attention by the waitress regarding the matter, but at 48$ for steak it should come out perfect the first time.
Rebecca was absolutely fantastic as a server and the meal was amazing!!
Do yourself a favor and make sure you start off with the bone marrow and partner your cut of choice with the Brussels and belly, and the Au Gratin potatoes.
One of the best meals I have ever had!!!
They are in a small location and a modest menu where the wine list is longer that food list. But, flavor was a top rate presence. Nice set of cocktail options. Portion sizes for the steaks were amazing, which allowed us to share 64 oz among the three of us. Server was knowledgeable, friendly and flexible. If it is in your budget, a newer must stop in central Lansing.
What a great experience. Food was awesome, service spectacular. Would recommend to this restaurant and look forward to returning.
Everything was perfect! Our food was amazing, the service was exceptional! We had the the duck ravioli, the tomahawk steak for 2, potatoes au gratin and the lobster Mac and cheese. We loved everything we ordered! They also brought my husband a birthday brownie and the couple bites I had of it tasted like heaven! Highly recommend!
Best meal I’ve ever had. Couldn’t decide which thing to take a bite of next.
This was our first visit to Bowdies in Lansing. We have been to Bowdie's in Saugatuck and had a very good experience and were hoping for the same in Lansing. We were not disappointed! The steaks and the sides were delicious, as was dessert. Our waiter, Kevin, was very good, attentive, entertaining and made good recommendations. We are definitely coming back to Bowdie's when we are in Lansing!
We had a great mean and our server. Kevin Wilson, was wonderful.
Bowdies has the best steaks in the Lansing area. Although the restaurant is small it is very intimate, quiet and peaceful. Wine list is outstanding and our waiter was very knowledgeable. Expensive but worth it. Since the menu is limited, which is fine, mostly steak, which is what they are known for, the special of the evening should be fish.
Enjoy coming here with clients. Food is always amazing. Not many nice places in Lansing to go too any more.
Overall at great experience. Too much exposure to kitchen and noises associated with it. Inadequate parking and entrance from the rear is a little frightening. Dinner, service and wait staff were fantastic
Our waitperson, Paul was awesome. Attentive, polite and quite knowledgeable about everything on the menu. The filet's that we ordered were cooked to perfection. Very tender and juicy. We shared 3 side dishes, mushrooms, au gratin potatoes, asparagus and mushrooms. Each dish was very good. We are looking forward to returning to try other items on the menu.
Wow, amazing food! Steak was cooked perfectly and had fantastic flavor. The sides were just as good! A little pricey though
We really enjoyed our first visit to Bowdies. The service was top notch which made the entire experience over the top. Our waitress was perfect. Knowledgeable, attentive but not overbearing, and so pleasant! We sat at a booth which was perfect for a private conversation. I liked the tablecloth & thought the napkin fold was clever. Simple but one I had never seen before. It was formal with a contemporary flair.
We went with the ribeye & were not disappointed. Cooked to perfection & the best steak I have ever eaten in a restaurant. Absolutely delicious! We liked the sharing concept which is encouraged. Our favorite was the mushrooms which we will enjoy again today as it was probably enough for 4 servings.
We were very pleased with the wine selection. Both glasses I had complimented the food perfectly.
Yes, we will be back! Great evening!
Bowdies never disappoints. Our new favorite in Lansing and treat for our college freshman when we are in town... Best steakhouse for miles. Outstanding, attentive service.
I think they have the best food lansing!! I say this after separate 3 visits. Great steak period! They have great sides, albeit a limited selection. Small occupancy which is clear by the attention the chef paid to every cut. Our server rebecca was great very attentive and hard working. Two thumbs up.
The service was great. Our server was very honest in her recommendation and kind to our request of not wanting more food than we can enjoy. I like that they allow you to order a "half" side to have a portion that meets your needs. All the food was delicious and it was an enjoyable evening.
We love Bowdies in Saugatuck, and wanted to try their Lansing location when we were in town. I used to go to this steakhouse when it was The Knight Cap, and it was a cozy gem back then. Some of the decor was updated (paint and furniture), and the place was still cozy. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. I even think their Rob Roy is better than the ones I've had in Saugatuck (if that's possible). Our food was amazing. The steaks practically melt in your mouth and our accompanying dishes were without equal. When we're in Lansing again, we a definitely stopping by Bowdies again.
Have eaten there 3 times. And the quality is always top notch. Took a 7 month old in. And there where amazing with the baby bringing specia foods. For. My vegetarian grand daughter was very happy with the special meal made. And the steaks where excellent
Attentive wait staff. The wait staff were very skilled at their tasks. Cozy ambiance. Good food.
This was my first time and it was a great all around experience. The steak is the best in the city. The service was top notch.
The second time we were there, just as good as the first time. The service was excellent, the food well prepared, best steak in the Lansing area.
Wonderful food and attentive service
Our server (I believe it was Kevin) and his assistant were very knowledgeable about the menu and wine list. Both staff were very friendly and visited our table often to make sure everything was ok. Food was excellent and served exactly as ordered. Paul at the bar was very friendly and spot on with his wine recommendations. Small establishment so tables are close together. I would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Excellent food and service was first rate. Food was prepared perfect best steak I have ever had
Staff was very knowledgeable and took care of all the details
I look forward to a return to try some of the other items
Lansing's BEST Restaurant EVER!!!...The Service is TOP SHELVE.....The Food is so DAMN Good you'll want to Slap your Mama!.....My wife and I split the Crab Cake, Chopped Salad, Cowboy Steak, Potato Au Gratin,Seared Broccoli and Peach Crumb desert......We'll be back OFTEN....
The meat was by far the best in Michigan and on par with New York and Chicago steakhouses. Unfortunately the service was not up to par nor as attentive as one would expect to accompany a meal of that quality.
Best filet ever. Melt in your mouth. Excellent hand crafted cocktails. Intimate setting. Great way to celebrate our 10th anniversary.
Great. Too expensive.
Need more parking. Very pricey. Had a good experience overall.
Had a great time server was very helpful and energetic, meal was out of sight , next trip to Lansing we will definitely stop in for a great meal ,great job guys no complaints here see you next time
Great food. Try the Brussels sprouts! Seriously. They are fantastic. My husband and I each had a 10oz filet...both were cooked perfectly and were delicious and tender. The carrot cake was the best I’ve ever had. Also, our server, Kevin was excellent. Very friendly and knowledgeable. A+
Wonderful meal at a wonderful restaurant in Lansing. Close to everything, and AMAZING food. Nowhere I’d rather eat for a great night out than Bowdie’s.
Best steaks in town by far. Crab cake appetizer is outstanding. Service is superb. Small, cozy place with nice ambiance. Expensive.
The food was absolutely fantastic. We had shared the Brussel Sprouts and very unique Au Gratin potato’s and goat cheese. All of which was really good. The fillet and Salmon was wonderful. Highly recommend this restaurant.
Food was excellent...as good or maybe better then the Knight Caps glory years. We had the cowboy ribeye, salmon, Kansas city with sides of lobster mac and cheese and brussel sprouts. Had once of the best Cabs from Napa.
A bit pricey but the food is delicious. Our waiter, Kevin, was excellent...very knowledgeable with a great sense of humor
