Bourgee Chelmsford

Absolutely incredible!! My original booking was for the Friday night and I was worried that we wouldn’t be able to go due to the new Lockdown, but they let me change my booking without any questions asked. We had the three course Christmas meal and it’s such good value for money! The rump steak was an absolute dream and the Mars bar cheesecake was so fluffy and delicious. Such a great atmosphere, they’ve really obeyed the social distancing rules but you don’t even pay much attention to that as the whole restaurant is so modern and classy. For a couple who aren’t from the area, it was great to try something new and we’ve definitely found a new fave – will definitely be booking a table for my 22nd in April!!

Cannot fault the restaurant - food was fantastic ( especially the Ribeye ) and the staff were great too.

Only downside was the Irish coffee - cream was mixed with the coffee for some reason but I’ll make sure it’s done properly when I come back.

What an amazing restaurant- if you want delicious food, fantastic cocktails, excellent service and luxurious surroundings then Bourgee is the place for you!
Such a shame covid is forcing your temporary closure - once you’re open again we will be back!

Had a great meal here, lovely tomahawk steak and lobster, service was quick and friendly will definitely be back.

Lovely restaurant, amazing food, we have fillet steak and cooked lobster was all very nice, great cocktails and very nice attentive staff. First visit but will certainly come back.

Great food and service, heard they are opening other venues, can’t wait to try them out as well as return to Chelmsford.

We were looking forward to this meal for our anniversary, had heard good things about Bourgee. However we left very disappointed.

We were able to be sat immediately even though we had booked prior, when sat down and had chosen what to eat were we then told something wasn’t available on the menu which typically was the only thing I fancied. Vegetarian options were extremely limited also.

We didn’t receive our starters until 9.15 (Baring In mind our table was booked for 8.15 and of course there was a 10 o’clock curfew). The starters were pleasant.

We then received our main courses at around 9.30.

Overall we felt rushed and the evening was just unpleasant with huge delays in service throughout. We felt rushed out the door and therefore our main meal couldn’t be enjoyed.

Extremely disappointing as mentioned previous it was for an anniversary meal.

Doubtful we would return.

We had a great night, the food was wonderful, the drinks were wonderful, the level of service we received was great we felt really looked after and special. Cannot wait for lockdown to finish to we can come back ASAP.

Beaut, everything cooked to perfection, mine and the other halves absolute go to as both thoroughly enjoy! Prefer here over a steakhouse in london!

We were sat upstairs along with 4 other tables at the same time so the one waitress (although she was lovely) couldn’t get round to everyone as well as making our drinks quick enough. We were left ready to order for almost 20 mins, not her fault just bad management.
The food itself was good but the wrong steak sauce arrived with mine and my partner asked for balsamic vinegar with his bread and we were told “no we don’t have that” when we have had it before at this restaurant. The ambience and service unfortunately let the food down.
I have been before and it’s been 5* service and food unfortunately it didn’t live up to the standards this time.

Went for 18th birthday, so nice, so clean, good food. Only thing was my steak was a bit cold. Apart from that lovely, clearly only a one time issue

We came to Bourgee for our anniversary, the food was lovely, the service was brilliant and had a lovely atmosphere. Would definitely come back here.

Starters were ok, main Food was terrible. Vegetables looked like they was cooked and then warmed up in a microwave, Yorkshire pudding dry and no substance, meat was chewy and the whole plate was swimming in gravy.

Great brunch , clean professional venue.

My wife’s food was cold so had to return it, we thought the restaurant was too noisy and loud although the food I had was nice but compared to other steak restaurants the portions were smaller for more money.

Food took sometime to arrive drinks took forever had to ask twice to get them and to pay the bill is bull acke.

Hand a birthday meal here. Had a lovely time great food and the server made the event. Bringing out a happy birthday from chocolate sauce was a great touch! We will 100% be returning!

We dined at Bourge on Friday. The service was top class. We were up sold onto the surf and turf by the head waiter I assume in a black shirt. A great combination of meat and lobster.
We finished off the meal with a off menu bottle of Riesling which was a lovely touch. We appreciate the accommodation when not on the menu.
Anyone looking for a nice,warm attentive dining experience should book a table at Bourge.

Best Sunday roast I’ve eaten in a long time ! Fantastic service and surroundings

Service was good, didn’t have what we wanted on menu, steak was good but swimming in garlic butter which I hate.
We drove there so only wanted one drink a vodka and coke,waitress brought us a double Just so they could charge us more, very disappointing ☹️

This bar is beautiful and has such a great vibe. London vibes, you would never believe you are in Chelmsford. I went for brunch and it was insanely good value. Went for food on Friday night and wasn’t as impressed with the dinner menu as with the brunch/afternoon tea menus. However the staff are incredible and all in its a lovely atmosphere.

Dirty seating area. Hair on chair and bits of food. Not encouraging in times of Covid.
The ‘chef’ came out of the kitchen and loudly belched which was very unpleasant and made me question the standard of the food I was about to receive.
Food was overall good but the Mars bar cheese cake was a mouse not a cheesecake
