Bourbons Bistro Ratings and Reviews
I'm going to get right to it on this one. Ribeye - worth it. Everything else (we had) - not worth the price. The key issue is simply that if I'm paying the price point for food that I am at Bourbon's Bistro, everything better be really good.
Let's get into a couple more details. Two of us, about $100 for a drink each (I had a bourbon flight), appetizer, and two entrees. The appetizer was the salmon croquettes, and was mostly just a fried ball of dough. I *think* there was salmon in there because some smoky flavor did come through.
Onto entrees. My SO got the pork chop. It was prosciutto wrapped and cheese topped...and still didn't really have flavor, nor was that tender. Honestly it reminded me of usual white meat chicken breast, so pretty disappointing. Mine, however, was a medium-rare ribeye and it was spot on; very well cooked and quite tasty. The accompaniments to each entree were good, but nothing memorable.
Our server seemed fairly jittery and kept moving salt/pepper/candle/bread plates each time they came by. Definitely good service, just jittery. Atmosphere was simple, modern, and classic black and white theme.
Everything we ordered was as delicious as the next: the cheese board, the wedge salad, pork chop, sweet potatoe gnocchi, and spare ribs. We forced ourselves to try the pumpkin caramel cake for dessert and it was THE BEST dessert I’ve had anywhere in a long time! Save room for some of that! It’s quite worth it!
I ate at Bourbon’s Bistro Monday 10/30, as well as Friday 10/27. They were out of tea both times. The visit on 10/30 bread was not available for the tables. They were waiting on bread for the goat cheese appetizer. You could tell they were short staffed. Not the norm for Bourbon’s Bistro. Disappointed.
It's a great, special place to go.
The food is delicious. I didn't rank it as outstanding because there were a couple of blips, such as the sweet potato gnocchi (which is sweet) having dried cranberries in it(sour). The kale salad had dried fruit in it which seemed to clash with the salad flavors. The salmon and gnocchi were wonderful, as was the goat cheese appetizer.
This place is truly a gem! This was our fourth visit, and proved - once again - to NOT disappoint. You can count on an absolutely fantastic meal, with very attentive service, and I think the prices are extremely reasonable for the quality and service. The place can be crowded, and loud, when busy, but the meal is worth both a wait, and the noise level. Outstanding selection of bourbon as well!
Went on he bourbon trail this past weekend and had to stop here. Best burger I ever had. The menu was a little limited but ever dish was great. We had a party of 8 and no one was disappointed. Dessert was seasonal and very good. If you are in town this is a must!
This was my 2nd time dining here. We had a larger group of family members in town couple years ago and it was nice to be able to make a reservation for the number of people we had, I think was like 15-18.
This time it was getting together with a few friends. Love that they are on Open Table and I also found them on Groupon which made me think of this restaurant again and that I had enjoyed before. I had the salmon which was excellent!!! My husband enjoyed the Wellers. Nice evening
We have eaten here several times and on this visit the food was just okay. I had the pork chop and it was just bland. My husband had the steak and it was tough.
The service was excellent and with a fire burning on the patio the chilly evening was wonderful.
We will go back because this wasn't typical.
I am unclear why this restaurant is getting such good reviews. The food was uninspired. The Bourbon and wines were 20% more than anywhere else we eat in Louisville.
Our waitress was wonderful! The restaurant was 1/2 empty at 8pm on a Saturday. That should have been a clue.
This was our first visit to this restaurant. We have been interested in dining here, but have often overlooked it for trendier places and lower costs for great food. We were pleasantly surprised at our bill and felt that Bourbons Bistro provided great value for the money. We each had drinks at the bar prior to dining. As bar drinks goes, $9-$12 for a signature cocktail is the average. My sazerac was good, but a bit watered down compared to similar drinks in New Orleans. I was still happy with it. My wife had a glass of red wine, a cab.
We were sat at our reservation time. The place was busy with groups and my wife and I had to sit close to hear each other due to how loud the dining area was. Our server was prompt and polite. We ordered an app, can't remember which one, and it was fine. My wife had the vege burger and I the salmon. Both dishes were very good and presented well. We ordered the pumpkin cake with bourbon whip cream and we both could have just had that for dinner, it was that good. We each had an additional drink during our meals.
Overall, the experience was pleasant and we will be visiting again. We spent under $90 for the two of us and we felt that was a good deal for this level of dining.
Brett was our server and did an excellent job. all the food we had was delicious, from the appetizer to the pumpkin caramel cake we all shared. Two things not as outstanding as others were the Scottish Salmon and the Old Fashioned. But overall it was a wonderful dinner.
Arrived and the music was very loud. Asked and the waiter kindly turned it down. However, there was already a part of roughly 8 people and then two more parties of about 10 people each showed up so it was very loud. Fries came out cold with the burger but they were replaced. Pork chop was just okay. Would order the burger again.
The restaurant lives up to it's name. They have an extensive (huge) selection of bourbon drinks. Try the pork chop. It was great! Tender and almost melted in your mouth. All the food is sourced locally. Awesome dinner and drinks.
One of our best meals in a long time, and as San Franciscans, that's saying a lot. Staff was warm, inviting and generous! Great ambiance A perfect evening of food and service. Can't say enough wonderful things about this place. Oops! I lied. Try the burger, bistro steak and/or the bread pudding. To die for! Definitely going back!
We wanted to go out just for a casual dinner on Friday night. The weather was cool enough so we sat outside. Unfortunately the service outside was poor. We had significant delays in drink refills and a very long time between appetizer and the main course. Sadly the waiter was not checking on us frequently to know our status. Like I said I wanted a casual dinner so I had the bourbon Burger. I don't know what the seasoning was but to me it was not delicious. Secondly I didn't care for the seasoning on the fries. Whatever the green stuff was on the fries.
My wife had shrimp and grits and said she enjoyed it. We will go back perhaps but would not be on the tops of our list for the cost of this kind of dining. Many other restaurants near this one offer a more diverse choice of entrees and much better service.
