Bourbons Bistro Ratings and Reviews
Delicious! I had the filet cooked medium. You could cut with a butter knife! Also the prosciutto wrapped asparagus and fingering potatoes, both cooked to perfection. My husband had the pork chop, which he said was great. Even on a super busy night of the year, service was great and food was done to perfection!
New Year’s Eve. It took 25 minutes from the time we were seated to get a bourbon (straight up) at Bourbons Bistro. It wasn’t crowded. The food was good but not amazing. Portions are moderate. Nothing really stood out other than being ignored after being seated and then the longish wait for our drinks. Would consider trying again, perhaps better on a non holiday evening.
The ambience was beautiful in the restaurant so we were excited. I ordered the sweet potato gnocchi and my SO ordered the filet. My gnocchi was amazing but my SO barely ate his filet. He does not like sauces or reductions on his food and his filet and accompanying veggies had a balsamic glaze all over them (not mentioned on the menu). Also, our service was TERRIBLE. At one point, the bartender delivered my glass of wine because our server never got it from the bar. She was extremely inattentive. We won’t return as there are so many other amazing restaurants in the area that we prefer.
I'm going to get right to it on this one. Ribeye - worth it. Everything else (we had) - not worth the price. The key issue is simply that if I'm paying the price point for food that I am at Bourbon's Bistro, everything better be really good.
Let's get into a couple more details. Two of us, about $100 for a drink each (I had a bourbon flight), appetizer, and two entrees. The appetizer was the salmon croquettes, and was mostly just a fried ball of dough. I *think* there was salmon in there because some smoky flavor did come through.
Onto entrees. My SO got the pork chop. It was prosciutto wrapped and cheese topped...and still didn't really have flavor, nor was that tender. Honestly it reminded me of usual white meat chicken breast, so pretty disappointing. Mine, however, was a medium-rare ribeye and it was spot on; very well cooked and quite tasty. The accompaniments to each entree were good, but nothing memorable.
Our server seemed fairly jittery and kept moving salt/pepper/candle/bread plates each time they came by. Definitely good service, just jittery. Atmosphere was simple, modern, and classic black and white theme.
Everything we ordered was as delicious as the next: the cheese board, the wedge salad, pork chop, sweet potatoe gnocchi, and spare ribs. We forced ourselves to try the pumpkin caramel cake for dessert and it was THE BEST dessert I’ve had anywhere in a long time! Save room for some of that! It’s quite worth it!
I ate at Bourbon’s Bistro Monday 10/30, as well as Friday 10/27. They were out of tea both times. The visit on 10/30 bread was not available for the tables. They were waiting on bread for the goat cheese appetizer. You could tell they were short staffed. Not the norm for Bourbon’s Bistro. Disappointed.
It's a great, special place to go.
The food is delicious. I didn't rank it as outstanding because there were a couple of blips, such as the sweet potato gnocchi (which is sweet) having dried cranberries in it(sour). The kale salad had dried fruit in it which seemed to clash with the salad flavors. The salmon and gnocchi were wonderful, as was the goat cheese appetizer.
This place is truly a gem! This was our fourth visit, and proved - once again - to NOT disappoint. You can count on an absolutely fantastic meal, with very attentive service, and I think the prices are extremely reasonable for the quality and service. The place can be crowded, and loud, when busy, but the meal is worth both a wait, and the noise level. Outstanding selection of bourbon as well!
Went on he bourbon trail this past weekend and had to stop here. Best burger I ever had. The menu was a little limited but ever dish was great. We had a party of 8 and no one was disappointed. Dessert was seasonal and very good. If you are in town this is a must!
This was my 2nd time dining here. We had a larger group of family members in town couple years ago and it was nice to be able to make a reservation for the number of people we had, I think was like 15-18.
This time it was getting together with a few friends. Love that they are on Open Table and I also found them on Groupon which made me think of this restaurant again and that I had enjoyed before. I had the salmon which was excellent!!! My husband enjoyed the Wellers. Nice evening
We have eaten here several times and on this visit the food was just okay. I had the pork chop and it was just bland. My husband had the steak and it was tough.
The service was excellent and with a fire burning on the patio the chilly evening was wonderful.
We will go back because this wasn't typical.
I am unclear why this restaurant is getting such good reviews. The food was uninspired. The Bourbon and wines were 20% more than anywhere else we eat in Louisville.
Our waitress was wonderful! The restaurant was 1/2 empty at 8pm on a Saturday. That should have been a clue.
