Wasn’t open. Got there for our confirmed reservation at 7:00pm and they are temporarily closed. Would have been nice to know since getting back into town was going to take an hour.
This place needs to be taken off of open table. Made a reservation on open table. Was super excited to get to try the beautiful menu after a day of skiing. Showed up 10 minutes before our reservation to a closed restaurant. No phone call/text/email regarding the closure. Tried calling, went to voicemail. Very disappointed in the lack of communication to what would be their customers.
Made my reservation for Bourbon Pub about a week in advance via Opentable, I even received confirmation and a reminder via OpenTable only to get there to find the restaurant closed. I was left to find an alternative location to eat with my family and of course, it was very difficult considering the covid regulations. I looked on the website and did not notice any notice of closure either. Needless to say, I and my family were disappointed. someone should have done the courtesy of reaching out to me.
This place was a total surprise. The food was amazing!! I live in Las Vegas and we have culinary giants here, but Bourbon Pub was a show stopper. I could not believe how well the food tasted and every item we ordered was perfect and better than expected. Our server was very informative and she seemed genuinely happy and this showed through the attention given to us throughout the meal. I have had many hummus plates and all boring and bland. BP served the best hummus plate I have had in years. So tasty and seasoned perfectly. Also ordered a side of spinach and the chef added lemon and we could not stop eating the spinach, we were fighting over it. The burgers and sandwiches were on the perfect buns, light and fluffy. The meal was so comforting we can't wait to go back again and try more items on the menu.
I expected more from a Michael Mina restaurant. Service was extremely slow and the food was just mediocre. The decor felt very cold, not inviting at all. It will be a long while before we return.
Really great addition to Northstar. Made for a really great 16th birthday dinner for my daughter...."OMG...Best Burger I have EVER had, Mom!!"

Absolutely delicious food!! (I had the kale salad, the turkey burger and the broccolini) Very casual environment. So happy to have something that is a step up in Northstar Village, I'll definitely be back!

The food at Bourbon Pub was excellent.
But the restaurant itself was decorated in cafeteria chic.
It was really surprising being in Northstar how everything about the place seemed really cheap and cold even though the food was good, the decor made the whole experience seem really overpriced. I felt like I should be eating much less expensive food. Not a place that is great to hang out.
Again, the food and service was great though.

Very limited menu and mediocre cuisine. The lighting is far too bright and ambience is lacking. It is a great location in the village, but it lacks the essentials for a good dining experience.
After dining at other Michael Mina restaurants, and being very satisfied with our experiences, we were disappointed with this one. The food selection was somewhat limited, and the service was spotty. While the Manager was accommodating and made up for some of the shortcomings (one entree was quite late in appearing; one entree included items the diner had requested be eliminated; one diner was told her drink of choice was not available, but when her husband went to the bar himself, he found that it was), we will give this restaurant more time to iron out their wrinkles before thinking about returning.

Just not interesting food and service was slow, but they were nice. Noisy and very diner line.
For whatever reason it took 30 min for the greeting desk to seat the ~12 people ahead of us when we arrived at the opening time — despite some having reservations for that time. Really weird and frustrating. Once inside, the food was good and interesting, and the decor is modern and fresh.
This was our anniversary dinner. It was descent enough food but incredibly loud. There were lots of open tables and yet they were out of different food items. We arrived at 6:30, and I had already called the day before to verify it was our “anniversary “ dinner. When we got there we wanted a table by the window but were told it wasn’t available. No one sat at that table for the hour we were there. The waiter seemed new and frantic. Portion size was huge for the salad and very small for my steak entree. When we got to dinner they were out of ice cream so that narrowed the choices . It was extremely loud. We listened to the trick basketball competition on the tv while all the men were screaming. It definitely was not the spot for a romantic dinner, at least where we were seated. We got in and out in 45 minutes and opted to sit outside with a drink for the remainder of our evening.
Food has potential but falls short.
Tokyo chicken is too bready and spicy. Needs to be very lightly battered, more chicken, and a sauce that cuts the spiciness
The double Cheeseburger could be so much better. The bun dwarfs the patties. Burger should be killer
The steak is a good idea but the ribeye isn’t high enough quality for the price point. Consider replacing with a high quality strip steak. For $50+ it should be awesome. It’s really average quality meat

Worst experience we have had in a long time. It's a Michael Mina restaurant.
It looks like a crummy big cafeteria with the brightest LED lights you can imagine.
My burger was well done with a couple of carmelized onions that were negligible. We shared a burger and caesar salad, plus one cocktail-for just under $100.
There were over 40 kids in the back room and so loud we couldn't talk. The hostess could have put us in the front room with a few minutes wait where it was at least quieter.
Truckee has lots of good restaurants and bars. Go there.
The food was awesome and the wait staff amazing. Only down side was there was a party of 20 or more young girls dining as a group with their dads and the noise was not contained and horrendous we could not hear ourselves talk at our table. The staff was as helpful as they could be recognizing that there needs to be more done for sound proofing. I have dined here before and did enjoy that evening and the food is still great but please fix the sound.
Service and food were both terrible. I had high hopes going in as Michael Mina's restuarants are usually good, but this place totally bombed it. I will not be coming back to this place nor recommending it to friends.
Terrible. Messy, unorganized, smelled like construction chemicals. Food was sub par at best. Dirty linen hamper on the dining room floor? Really? Michael - this feels and tastes like you phoned it in.. Awful. Please make it better. I expect so much more from the brand.

Worst acoustics I’ve ever experienced in a restaurant. Couldn’t hear myself chew let alone talk. This place needs to be closed down or moved.

Disappointed. It was a Saturday night, in a skiing village and there were several items they were either needing to substitute or completely out of. The atmosphere was stale, felt like a cafeteria. The hostess didn’t greet us properly, and we waited far too long at the hostess stand before she decided to say hello. They need to provide better service all around.
Have been to a Mina restaurant in the past and it was amazing. However, as fir this vine in Northstar I have doubts. 1. Place does not look as nice as the previous restaurant. 2. Due my daughters birthday they wanted to seat us next to the entrance door in February 20 degrees. 3. Service was average compared to another restaurant there. 4. Food. We had sashimi which was AMAZING. The butternut squash soup was to sweet and needed Alot salt and pepper. My daughter had Mac cheese which was good but not as good as Rubican restaurant. I had filet minion which was Very good but sonn mmh e parts medium rare to my request for medium. My wife had cauliflower steak which was Amazing but a little to much onions. Desert for daughter free fir birthday was nice. Warm cookies milk. She loved the cookies. Wife and I shared the s’mores pie? Surprisingly good. Total with tip 170? I had 1 beer. They also changed 3 menu options and ran out of flank steak, not that I would order it. As for the restaurant of Mina I liked , I can’t remember if it was in DC or SF that was SUPERB.
Overall in Northstar I recommend Rubican? A surprise of a restaurant with helpful service and delicious food for 1/2 price. Although their deserts we skipped.
Overall great experience. Food was fantastic. Server was very knowledgeable and gave some nice recommendations. We we staying at the Ritz so for a dinner this was a awesome value. It would definitely not stop as from going back but the decor and setup was a little plain and also a little too bright. Also we sat right next to the door and host stand. Suggestion would be to put up a little pony wall or some separation. Otherwise great dinner with friends and also seemed very accommodating to kids and larger groups.
Good option if in the Village Northstar. Interior very simple and stark looking. Great cocktails. Very tasty and nice portions of appetizers and entrees.
Had Bao, stacked nachos, wagyu beef tacos. Would recommend all.

Northstar deserves a great restaurant, but this isn’t it in its current format. Ambiance is IKEA-like in its simplicity and lack of elegance. Most of the food is average and the menu isn’t very inventive. Fries were very good and desserts were above average. Steak was boring and other entrees were similar. Plus the dinner took 2 hours on a night when it wasn’t so busy. Servers try hard and are friendly. I hope this improves after some adjustment.
The decor is stark, and the lighting is way too bright! The food, however, is fabulous!

Very patient with our kids but staff didn’t seem used to kids who want to get up and run around. Understandable given the servers and potential for an accident but something to consider when booking. Our waitress Megan was great but I think they were relieved when we left. Food was great if a little slow to the table but no complaints otherwise.

The food and menu are pretty, but I unfortunately would not go back due to the atmosphere. We went for dinner on a ski night and the lights were turned all the way up. It felt and looked eating in like a cafeteria. Also, it was so cold inside the restaurant that we all had to keep our parkas on, and when it is snowy outside, you kind of want a cozy feeling when you are eating. Finally, it was deafening loud. I like loud, fun restaurants, but they have stone floors and even though the tables were only half-filled, it sounded like the other customers were yelling and shrieking with laughter. They put our party of 4 at a huge round table meant for 6 and we couldn't hear each other. It was definitely not was I was hoping from the famed Michael Mina group, and while the food was pretty good, next time I would definitely just stay in my hotel at Ritz and go to the restaurant downstairs! My daughter had the salmon and it was really good, and I had the cauliflower steak. The flavor was really good but super small meal for the price! The cookies and milk dessert was incredible. I hope they fix the atmosphere before we go back to Northstar! Turn the lights down, the heat up, and add some floor coverings and drapes to absorb the sound!
We've had dinner at Bourbon Pub twice on Saturdays and its a great addition to the Northstar Village. All the food was very good, far better than you'd expect in the mountains. The fare is more like what you'd expect in a city gastro-pub, just a bit less adventurous. The pub is a cut well above typical resort dining options. It's a little pricy, but in line with what you'd expect in a ski village. The back room can be quite loud, while the front bar room is a little tamer for dinner. Good cocktail selection and preparation, on par with a city bar. The unusual nachos, double burger, Pho sandwich, several salads, all very good.

This has been our new go-to place at Northstar. We’ve been here half dozen times since they opened in November. The prices are resort level and the service and food have been great.
This past time was a disappointment. The waiter was great, but the food took a long time to arrive. We were there mid-afternoon and the restaurant was less than half full. The biggest complaint we have was that there was a large dog in the restaurant near us. It was jumping on its human and didn’t appear to be any type of trained service animal. My son suffers from allergies and having a dog near him in such a confined area unnecessarily was not a good experience.

I was expecting more from a Michael Mina project. Inside feels like a cafeteria. The menu is all over the map with Mexican, Japanese, British influence. Service was slow. Took about 45 minutes to get attention to place order.

We love Boubon Pub! We’ve been here 3 times now and it’s been excellent every time. We live full time in North Lake Tahoe - Truckee and being from San Francisco, Bourbon Pub is a much welcome addition to the area. The Nachos and Tacos are delicious!! Drinks and beer selection is so good too. We have little kids and always feel comfortable dining here as a family. We will be back for sure!
