This was a GREAT place for a night out on Bourbon St! The food was excellent--we mostly enjoyed raw oysters and highly recommend the fruits de mer, as you receive a sampling of their best. Our servers were friendly and extremely knowledgeable. The only reason I took anything off at all was because we had to ask for bread more than once. But other than that small glitch, PERFECTION. Oh, and the frozen bourbon milk punch? I wanna be buried with some of that. Thanks, Bourbon House!
Felt very rushed. The entrees came out even before the appetizer was cleared. One of the entrées was very small. Tourist-style prices
Loved our waitstaff. They were fantastic - Bailey was awesome and our waiter escorted our daughter when she needed to find the restroom - including offering her his arm - they were fantastic.
The food was delicious - absolutely fabulous!!
The only small snag was that we made our reservation through open table for 10:30 pm. When we arrived, the restaurant had no record of our reservation and informed us that the kitchen was closing at 11. When I showed the front of the house staff my email, they begrudgingly found us a table, but it was clear they were put out.
Once we got to the table, everything else was perfect. Totally recommend.
This was my 3rd time coming over the span of several years. I tend to avoid restaurants on Bourbon due to the tourists and traffic. I hadn’t been in a while but I had a friend in town and due to our venturing out for dinner and drinks later, this was the best option. Due to the holiday traffic, made a reservation for 9:30 through Open Table and weren't seated until close to 10. Our server Mark was very nice, attentive and friendly. Little did I know he'd be our best advocate for the night. Our appetizer was simple, (half dozen charbroiled oysters)yet they weren't brought out for 30 min. Good but they weren’t hot as they should’ve been. Our entrees were simple ; 1 fried shrimp platter and 1 BBQ shrimp and grits dish. It took almost an hour for us to be served our entrees and two tables around us that came after us received their food before us. When the food finally came, my friend’s was hot but my bbq shrimp and grits wasn’t. The grits were lumpy and cold not creamy as described and It was luke warm if even that. I alerted Mark and he was so gracious and apologetic especially after such a long wait. The same dish was returned with more grits and more sauce still the same temp. I was annoyed by then and Mark seemed to be as well. He told me I wouldn't be charged for food that not only took over an hour to get but was cold twice. I ordered a shrimp platter like my friend because I knew you couldn’t disguise fried food cold. That was good and the shrimp were plump and large. Bourbon House has the name but not the reputation anymore. I wont be visiting again. I was very disappointed because the last time I visited a couple years ago when another friend was in town, it was excellent.
The food was delicious! definitely a great spot to eat on bourbon
Great service, food was delicious and we were seated on time. A wonderful experience.
Supposed to have a team of waiters, the drink waiter only came by once and never saw her again. Steak wasn’t cooked properly, menu was too similar to every other restaurant. Desserts were not interesting. Food was ok not great.
Our dinner here was a disappointment. Our waitress was terrible. She barely checked on our table. She acted like she didn’t want to be there. The food was okay. Nice flavors but just not WOW. We had come here for lunch and had the oysters and LOVED it!
Maybe it would have been better if we had a different waitress.
We made dinner reservations and our friends did not, however they were seated 30 minutes before us and we just sat with them to avoid additional wait time! The shrimp and grits were delicious!!
Raw oysters were amazing- fat and well chilled. Being from the Chesapeake Bay I can appreciate good oysters
Without hesitation a GREAT restaurant for excellent locally inspired cuisine, with reasonable pricing and perfect location at the foot of Bourbon Street in the French Quarter. The Wait Staff was great, we were assigned two waiters; one for beverage and the other for food and I appreciated their attention to detail and make everyone one at our table enjoy the visit. One person in our party required special dietary needs and they were happy to adjust the menu without hesitation. Personally, I have visited this restaurant over the years for lunch, dinner and even a large group and I have never been disappointed. For our family, it topped a week's visit to NOLA with the best image for the City.
Very pleasant experience! Service was impeccable. Food was excellent. Bourbon list is DEVINE!!
Came all the way from Philly to try the oysters, absolutely amazing!
Terrific food, attentive service, generous drink pours. What’s not to like?
The pricing is great first of all for a Brennan family restaurant. The food is really good. The gumbo is one of the best in town. I had the bbq shrimp as well which was pretty good. The server was really nice and personable but didn’t know the menu and kept messing up the order. Overall, still a great visit.
Corey was outstanding he’s a true role model for great customer service. Very Very impressed.
Our servers Mitch and Kyle were awesome!!!! Kyle you rock! Love the charbroiled oysters with the crab meat and bourbon milk punch so much we came back the next day.
Delicious food. Super fresh seafood. Service was terrible- it took over 30 minutes to get our drinks. We had to ask 3 times for bread, then it finally came two minutes before our entrees did. Our water glasses never got refilled. They automatically went ahead and divided the bill (which was a nice thought), but everyone’s bill was totally wrong, so it ended up being more of a hassle. Overall it was a pretty good experience, since to food was sooo good, but for the price the service should have been much better.
It’s always fantastic! And the service is always superb!
The Oysters are great...both ways...grilled and raw!! The rest is good...just a tad better than average.
Although the bbq shrimp ordered was tasty, it took well over an hour from ordering for our entrees to come out. I know they were busy and had a private party or two upstairs, but for our party of 3, timing was rather disappointing. Husband ordered petit filets and said they lacked real flavor (even though he orders medium rare to maintain as much flavor as possible). Just a bit disappointing because we had heard great things prior to going. Maybe going at a less crowded time (maybe lunch) would be better.
Great food and LOTS of bourbon. However, it was SO LOUD you really could have a conversation. Sometimes that’s ok but for us, that was a shame.
Oysters were served after dinner arrived without an apology. The entrees came out fast although one was cold. They took it back and the fish came back rubbery, maybe from being microwaved. The rest of the food was average at best and not inexpensive.
Horrific experience from start to finish. I have been to the Bourbon House several times before and it was great, not sure what happened. We had a party of 6 and were seated at a table for 4 with two chairs squished on the ends. Everyone’s food was cold and disgusting, 4 of 6 were sent back. Service was slow and unprofessional. My bill was 115 and when the waiter came back with my card he had run it for 154 (gratuity was not included) and then refused to give any kind of evidence that he canceled the first transaction.
I brought my friends and family to this restaurant to show them a good time and was disappointed in every aspect. I will never go back.
The oysters were not shucked well, shell-y and dirty. Our entrees were served when only half the appetizers were served. Food was served before drinks were. Had two waiters who were hard to get a hold of and did not stop by the table often. Even getting the bill was a challenge. Maybe the bar would have been better for food and service.
My wife and had a good experience overall. The food was great and so was our drink/ dessert server. The drink server’s name was Kyle. Kyle did a great job checking in and making sure that we had everything that we needed. Our food server was the opposite though. She never came back to our table after dropping off our meal except to drop the check. She never checked to see if our meals were ok, or if we needed anything else.
Other than drunk bachelorettes it was a wonderful experience. Mitch and Jonathan were very attentive and helpful.
When making the reservation, I mentioned it was for my wife's birthday as it was a special one. No mention or recognition was made by anyone at the restaurant. It was very busy and as a result the service was fair to poor. We ordered soup which was good but the meal, LOUISIANA SEAFOOD SAMPLER, was sparse, dry and overcooked. I would have received a better seafood meal and value at the oyster house across the street.
They did an amazing job preparing our food the atmosphere was pleasant and quiet and the service was outstanding. They made my husband‘s birthday lunch extra special and solidified a wonderful memory for family.
Our servers were phenomenal and helpful through our entire dinner experience. And, we appreciate how they helped us celebrate my cousin’s birthday!
Went to the back bar with a friend; great service by the female bartender. Bourbon selection is fantastic! Charbroiled oysters were just mediocre.
Amazing food and thoroughly attentive staff! The Bourbon Milkshake is incredible and I'm not a bourbon drinker at all!
Overall disappointment. Food was decent but the service and atmosphere were lackluster.
best red fish on the half shell I have had. service top rate.
Beverage server was excellent; but food server gave awkward vibes; not sure how to explain it, but every encounter with him was weird. Was happy that restaurant gave us a different table upon request. However, they did forget that it was my birthday.
Great food and great service. Corey, our waiter was friendly and fun. Kyle, our drink server was very nice and insightful. Food was fantastic. This is our "go to place" to bring out of town guests.
I had the BLT wedge with Blue Cheese dressing and the the NEW ORLEANS BBQ SHRIMP
(jumbo gulf shrimp, New Orleans style bourbon bbq sauce, creamy stone ground grits). The salad was very good and the shrimp were excellent. The sauce on the shrimp was heavenly and the grits were extremely creamy. I also had the bourbon milk punch cocktail. It was so good I had a second one for desert.
We had a great evening at Bourbon House. The oysters and jumbo prawns we had as an appetiser were amazing. The redfish main course and Surf and Turf dish was also very nice. Service was excellent. This is a very busy restaurant and food service is not fast which we liked. The bar area was also very busy and could do with more bar staff. Most other restaurants in New Orleans seem to finish serving very early but this place is buzzing until quite late. Would definitely return.
Delicious food however service was poor and wine was brought after meal was over even though server was reminded about it twice.
Fantastic wait staff, incredibly knowledgeable drink server with great recommendations! The food was incredible! Highly recommend and will return!
