Dickie Brennan and his culinary team have created an incredible menu of classic New Orleans dishes complemented by new favorites. Signature favorites include Gulf fish on the Halfshell and New Orleans style Barbeque Shrimp.
Bourbon is a central focus at the bar with 200 bourbons on the list. Bourbon House is the perfect place for a specialty cocktail or a straight pour of that hard to find small-batch whiskey.
Excellent restaurant with a good choose of food. Next time we will book again.
Waitstaff was attentive. Food was better than I thought it would be for a large, busy restaurant. Had the seafood sampler. Felt the grilled shrimp skewer was a tad over cooked. The fish was cooked nicely. The crab imperial was ok....a bit too much filler for me. The food arrived at room temperature. I like my food hot. I’d probably go back but after trying other seafood restaurants first. .
Josh and Noel were awesome waiters. These two guys made it a great experience!
We chose the Bourbon House while walking on Bourbon Street; it was among several highly rated restaurants we considered. What a great choice! The food was unique, very much in style with the New Orleans cuisine we were expecting. The prices were reasonable, the service great and we thoroughly enjoyed the meal. Highly recommend this restaurant to anyone in the area!
Celebrating Southern Decadence with good friends
Bourbon House was absolutely amazing! We wanted more of everything. Being right on Bourbon Street I was concerned that the restaurant would be noisy like its surroundings, but I was pleasantly surprised to walk in to a quiet and peaceful setting. It felt like a whole different world than the street outside, but still right in the middle of all the action. The sauce on the filet mignon was superb. Our favorite was the oyster appetizer that was topped with crab meat and a lemon butter sauce. Both desserts were delicious as well- season ice cream that was vegan (but so tasty) and the best bread pudding. This meal was the highlight of our trip to New Orleans.
The food was delicious! THE DRINKS THOUGH. The drinks were all amazing especially the Voodoo Child!!
The was our first time to visit Bourbon House. The food and service was very good. We enjoyed our wait staffers. The catfish was exceptional.
Oysters disappointing in that the crab meat was just tossed on overcooked grilled oysters...and this is an oyster house.
I have been there many times and enjoyed food...but the meal was mediocre.
I will try again though!
The food. The service. The atmosphere. Top notch. Even with a 9 month old, the waitstaff was oh so wonderful!
The service was great. I had the Seafood Sampler and was unable to eat the crab imperial as if was over cooked (dried out), the serving size was truly a. “Sample” size.
Went for Coolinary month... they tried to tell me it wasn’t offered on Friday’s , even though the website Said otherwise.
Oysters were the size of a nickel, pork tenderloin had no flavor at all. The best part was the cosmopolitan from the bar. There are better restaurants in the city, with better tasting food , with way better prices. We will not be returning.
Our table captain, Corey, made our dining experience both memorable and delightful. His panache, knowledge and personable nature kept us fully engaged in our dining experience and anticipating the wonderfully prepared culinary delights he promised would come at each course of our meal. I am happy to report that each of his promises were kept as the preparation of our meal was perfectly executed from start to finish.
We look forward to returning to Bourbon House. We shall insist on dining with Corey: even if it means that we have to wait to be seated. Kudos, Corey! The pride you take in ensuring your guests have a wonderful experience is evident in your demeanor. Keep up the great work!
Best oysters I’ve ever had. Broiled with crab meat and fresh oyster shooters. Will come back for more!!!
We had a party of 5. Everyone was happy with their various entree choices. I got the fried oyster platter. It was good. Acme house has a better platter. With that being said this was a good number 2 option.
The staff was great. They offered suggestions and gave honest opinions on the food.
I would go back and recommend to others.
Food was decent but service was not good. We waited for over 10 minutes before we even got water and had to ask another server who wasn't assigned to our table for bread. When Tom, our server, finally came to the table, he gave us some info and then was getting ready to leave. We were hungry so we had to ask if we could put in our appetizer order then. Had to ask for another glass of wine instead of being offered one when they saw it was out. Also noticed a man at another table in our section get up and flag down a waiter, as he was not being helped. As for food, it's not bad - 1/2 dozen charbroiled oysters to start (Drago's are better) and the stuffed shrimp mirliton as my entree. That was pretty good, but my husband's redfish was outstanding. If we had to go back, that's what I would order. We're local and like to go to different restaurants to see where we would take out of town friends to or refer people to when they're visiting. Unfortunately, this wouldn't make our list.
Great service and good sea food
What a wonderful time. After all these years of going to New Orleans this was the first time I heard about the temperature lunch! Not only was the food amazing, so was the service and the price. During our 4-day/3-night stay we had lunch twice at the Bourbon House.
Fantastic service. Friendly staff, great service and we had a great deal during coolinary month in Norlens. The charbroiled oysters were out of this world.
The Bourbon bar is great and gives a regular bourbon drinker the opportunity to try new ones. The food started great with the charbroiled oysters and Rock Shrimp, but the much lauded Redfish on the half shell left us wanting...
Pace of food versus beverage service was not in cadence. Markeit was an excellent beverage server, but the speed of the bar was not in tune. Entree sides also seemed to have been set too far in advance of the meat/fish.
The ambiance is very New Orleans oriented. Staff were all very welcoming and friendly. It was great to have 2gluten free pastries.
We went for dinner and enjoyed it overall. My dish was cold which was a bit disappointing. The service was good.
My second time there. Love the seafood, very fresh. Great cocktails. Would come back again.
Impeccable service, delicious food, wonderful ambiance. We enjoyed it immensely!
Great food and service.
An amazing dinner. Highly recommend the charbroiled oysters!
Great food great service!!!
The ambience and food was amazing. The waiters were attentive and very knowledgeable of the menu.
Delicious meal from start to finish! Oysters! Catfish! Red fish! Seafood sampler. We loved it all! The milk punch is not to be missed.
Had always liked Bourbon House. Service was slow! Food took way too long! And they just handed these across the table! No manners! Not professional at all.
We loved our servers Emily and Brittany! The food was wonderful. After a long day of walking during Essencefest weekend, this made our last night/dinner in New Orleans memorable! We Love New Orleans- We will be coming back to Bourbon House!
Always stop here when in NOLA. Food was rather disappointing. Bread pudding and grilled oysters with crab was good but meal not great.
I sat at the Bar and Leo was great to chat with as he shucked oysters. The food was delish too. I had the charbroiled oysters which were yummy (I had to ask for French bread to mop up the butter and seasonings left from the oysters). I also had the house salad and added oysters to it. The salad was refreshing!
Service from Daniel and his co-worker was amazing. They made great recommendations and the food was delicious! I feel in love with the char-broiled oysters!
We had friends in from out of town, and they suggested Bourbon House. We hadn't been there before, but had a great time. The food was very good, and the service, especially our waiter, Josh, was terrific. All in all, while we preferred Tableau's atmosphere, (a little quieter) this was a great restaurant experience.
Excellent service! Lisa was friendly and kind. Great food! Menu offered a variety of selections and allowed for modification. Good value. Prices a bit higher than I would expect for the quality and presentation.
Massive restaurant that couldn’t cope with amount of people
Only one starter arrived& then the other came after the main course so we sent it back - still appeared on the bill!
Mediocre food - not for us!
An overall unacceptable experience. The reception and Wait staff were unwelcoming from the time we entered. We had Requested a table for 4 at time of our reservation because of mobility issues but the seating Rep insisted we take a banquette for 5–even though there was an empty table for 4 next to it. She said we could go back out to the reception area to speak with a manager. We told them to fix it among themselves and were finally seated at the 4 table. Not a great start.
After delivering the wrong soup to one of us, and forgetting one of the drinks, the entrees arrived.
The two lettuce wedge dishes with optional additional oysters consisted of 4 small over fried oysters. Cardboard. The risotto was so dry my guest couldn’t eat it. The shrimp seafood plate had over cooked dry shrimp. The second Drink order was forgotten.
As locals of the French Quarter, we’ve been here several times and other Brennan restaurants throughout the city over the past twenty years. But we will never return to the Bourbon House. We expected better. This is the first negative review I’ve ever had to write.
