Our waiter was pretty unhelpful. When asked a question he gave unsatisfactory responses. For example. when asked what the tasting menu included he said "I dont know...whatever the chef feels like giving you". When asked to describe a dish he said "what do you want to know". It was frustrating and took away from the overall experience.
Just a perfect meal on a Sunday night after theater
Food was good, portions were expectantly small.
The sea bass was the thinnest fillet I have ever seen. Further, there was nothing noticeably “Boulud” about the dish. I would have expected an entree of this caliber at a far less rated and less pricey establishment.
Always enjoy the food and ambience (and opportunity for people watching, most of them dressed up and excited pre-theater). We were made wait a little till after the reservation time but food came faster than expected so we made it to the opera just in time.
Dinner was excellent, service attentive and always ready.
Food and wine were delicious. We especially enjoyed the braised lamb special. The salad with the different chicories was a thing of beauty. I would have liked more puntarelle in my spaghetti; it was a garnish rather than an ingredient.
The food was exquisite - presentation, taste, originality. What a wonderful spot for brunch!
Great meal and excellent service.
We had a delicious pre-concert lunch. Service, food, ambiance all perfect. Hank Azaria was eating there, too! The lamb burger was delicious, and the French Fries rivaled those in Paris. will definitely return.
One of the best restaurants in NYC. Food is delicious.
First time at Boulud Sud; won’t be the last. Food was excellent, particularly the desserts; service attentive but not intrusive; ambience classy but not stuffy. Would like to have seen a few more half bottles on the wine list (my companion doesn’t indulge). Also, some of the supplemental charges seemed a bit hefty for the $65 prix fixe, reducing the “value for $” rating. All in all, however, a memorable dining experience.
This dinner live up to the reputation of the restaurant and beyond. Service was exquisite and the food even better. We had the early pre-fixe dinner before an 8PM curtain and everything was perfection
Excellent food and service. A terrific way to spend an evening particularly if you have the time to enjoy the super cuisine with a subtlety of quite unexpected flavors coming together in a marvelous blend of flavors on the palate.
The pre-theatre price-fixe iOS pretty mediocre food. You can order other dishes for an up charge, then it gets mediocre and expensive. We will not go back. Plenty of other choices.
Octopus tender but very ordinary. Fettuccine w/ white truffle was mostly a solid, albeit tender, clump. Flavour wise a good base for the truffle but the the shavings added very little flavour, much to my surprise. The Boulud Sud gin cocktail and the grapefruit givre by far the most successful items, the dessert particularly. I would still be willing to give the restaurant another try, but.............
Excellent dining in all respects. If you to to NYC and want to dine in a fine restuarant, this is a good choice. Location across the street from Lincoln Center is prime. Not a quick bite before the performance restaurant, though.
Extremely poor value. There were white noodles mixed in my rye pasta. Smug. Resting on laurels/name. No longer trying.
We were there on a busy Sunday noontime during Nutcracker season, so the place was filled with both children and adults. They handled both smoothly and graciously, and the children's menu is designed to appeal to any child I can think of.
Enjoyed very much with friends visiting from Europe.
The steak and eggs tasted a bit too spicy. However, the Cinderella squash soup was fabulous! Love your rose water ice cream! Our server was excellent.
Everything was excellent. Service was highlight. The staff was welcoming, helpful, efficient, knowledgeable and fun.
Best meal my wife and I had on our recent visit to NYC. Fantastic, from start to finish.
We needed a quick but good lunch with a friend visiting from UK. Boulud Sud did the trick with their Express Lunch - 2 courses for $25. It came with delicious pumpkin soup. Unfortunately one guest was allergic to pumpkin seeds; the only alternative offered was a fresh but very mediocre salad - greens and radish with no dressing, which was disappointing. For mains we selected The Tunisian Brick, the pumpkin pasta, both delicious, though the pasta serving was very small - appetizer rather than main course size. I had the mussels, spicy and well-seasoned, in a heaping bowl. Delicious, but very messy to eat - a finger bowl would have been appreciated!
Best pre-Lincoln Center option. Wonderful!! And you can meet the most interesting women at the bar!
We went to celebrate my daughter's birthday and unfortunately arrived very late due to traffic problems; the maitresse d' was understanding and we were welcomed. All the food was excellent. We began by sharing the babaganoush dip and the m'men flatbread. The latter came without the honey and yogurt accompaniments, but when we asked they did bring these. Both were excellent. For starters we had Octopus a la plancha, which was superb, and the harira soup, quite delicious, filled with lamb and pulses and beautifully flavored. We both had the Arabic lamb flatbread as our main course, a sort if spicy pizza with lamb, aubergine and labneh, very tasty. I had the trio of sorbets for desert - the rose was particularly delicious; my daughter had the mango and cardamam vacherin, very attractively set out on a plate bearing a 'Happy Birthday ' message and a candle. She said the mixture of flavours was excellent and she really enjoyed it. The service was superb. We were there chatting a very long time and were not hurried.
Everything was excellent especially the service. I have never been disappointed.
Unusual dishes bursting with flavor, accompanied by an efficient and very friendly service. The desserts were a visual and gustatory treat. A special shout out to manager Marcelin whose love of his job and attentiveness made for a very memorable experience.
Birthday dinner for a friend. First time there and was extremely impressed with food and service. Couldn’t find a thing to fault. Will definitely be going back.
Never disappointed with the Express Lunch. It’s a wonderful value for a perfect meal. This restaurant is a serene place to enjoy conversations with your meal, the noise level is always on the light sound.
What can I say?
It was the best.
Very nice food,ambience and service
Our pre theater lunch was great and the service couldn’t have been better
The food was truly uninspiring, I was expecting much better
Gracious setting and service matched with delicious food makes Boulud Sud a terrific choice for any meal.
Went for the first time for Thanksgiving dinner, so maybe not a representative evening, but had a delicious meal and an outstanding bottle of wine recommended by the knowledgeable and easygoing sommelier. The shaved halvah on the grapefruit sorbet at dessert was a creative idea gone wrong, but otherwise beautiful food.
Nest to Lincoln Center and Perfect for pre or After Theater show
What a lovely meal we had before heading to the Met. The food is delicately prepared and just delicious.
There is always a problem getting your check from any server. Up till that point service is usually quite attentive.
In a city where this kind of restaurant--elegant but not crazy expensive, imaginative but not outré--is becoming a rarity, Boulud Sud is one of the few we can count upon. I love the combination of French with Mediterranean, with emphasis on the less travelled parts of Mediterranean cuisine on the southern and eastern shores. And everything is done perfectly. Kudos as well for a wine list that has strong offerings with only digit-prices, also becoming a rarity. We'll be back.
Waited a long time to try this venue that is convenient to Lincoln Center. I highly recommend it; service, food and drinks were top-notch. Lovely room with just enough "buzz" to make it interesting. I will be back again and again.
