Boulud Sud Ratings and Reviews
My first time dining for brunch and the food was delicious! I had the French toast which was the best I have ever consumed. My friend had the eggs Florentine and gave them high marks. Service was impeccable and the atmosphere, while energetic, was not loud so we were able to have a conversation without shouting.
Very tastefully prepared and presented Meditteranean food - the menu has influences from North Africa, Middle East and Europe. Lots of great sharing opportunities and though it's a very busy semi-open kitchen, the noise level is still conducive to conversation. All-in-all a very enjoyable reunion dinner with old friends from Hong Kong!
We had the Octopus La Plancha-sublime, Chicken Tagine-terrific, Califlower Soup-wonderful, Durade La Plancha-fantastic and the Mezze appetizer-loved the babaghanoush, falafel and hummus. Desserts were the icing on the cake: Grapefruit Givre and Tiramisu, and complimentary halvah.
We went to bulud sud last year for restaurants week and it was great.
This year the food wasn't as good.
The burger was raw although I specifically said Im pregnant and cant eat raw meat.
dessert was tough and you couldn't cut it, beet salad wasn't even seasoned.
we paid 90$ for restaurant week lunch and didn't enjoy it.
I had a lovely dinner from the menu while my daughter enjoyed the Restaurant Week menu. The scallops were delicious! My daughter also enjoyed the homemade ice-creams for dessert. Overall, the service was fantastic and the food delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant!
An outstanding meal, as usual! We attended the Winter Restaurant Week, and were totally pleased with the choice of dishes - there was something delicious for each person in our party of four. In addition to having truly mastered food preparation, the service at Boulud Sud is always impeccable! Boulud Sud continues to be one our favorite restaurants!
Lovely meal for restaurant week menu. Hi quality ingredients and creative preparation. The room is light and lovely. Open kitchen is fun.
Only less than wonderful was the house wine selection - a bottle of a Cotes de Rhone which was not very good. It was a bit harsh . So in contrast to the meal it was not on the same level.
ambience mildly upscale and modern service is friendly professional and efficient food is quite good a bit spicy as one would expect from mediterranean cuisine begin with excellent octopus a la plancha, next tagliatelle with urchin (excellent) wife had chicken quite good and well spiced, I had harissa lamb also quite good
a typical well run Daniel Boulud establishment, where you simply can't go wrong
only downside is the wine list overpriced, as is the case with most of his restaurants ranging from Cafe Boulud, to DB Bistro, etc
Good food. Ambiance was quite loud. Service of menu, food, and bill was very slow to come (approx. 8-10 min). Regular menu prices were to be expected. Restaurant menu was merely “discounted” items that each had a supplement price (+$7, +$9, etc...) to order the item, raising the bill to a regular price.
The food is the star here. I look forward to returning to try other things on the menu. While the ambiance is nice, the room was rather chilly for a winter evening. The service was helpful, pleasant and professional, although food was a bit slow out of the kitchen - perhaps it was busier than usual given that it was restaurant week.
Tried this during NYC restaurant week and was pleasantly surprised with the delicious options. The wine offered was also very good. Would definitely return and if you have opera tickets this would be the perfect place for an early dinner. They are very solicitous about making your curtain time. Around the corner do not miss purchasing a baguette at Épicerie Boulud !
The restaurant week experience at this hotel was not good. Below average service where we had to wait nearly 15-20 minutes for each course was really disappointing and they were busy watching Super Bowl Sunday and we could hear the screams coming from the kitchen or somewhere. The food wasn’t great for the price we paid. Could have been a better experience had they given us good service and we paid full 25% tip for the waiters because we didn’t want to be rude to waiters for the bad food that was served!
Thanks Boulud Sud for an outstanding dinner experience! You guys go above and beyond to satisfy your guests and you have done that once again. Food was delicious as always, but service was even better. Thanks to our server Jenn , you were fantastic. I truly enjoyed the grapefruit dessert.
We went to the restaurant during a Restaurant Week and were pleasantly surprised by how many options for the menu the restaurant offered. Everything we had was delicious. Cuisine is Mediterranean but with a nice twist. Perhaps the chicory salad we had could have been arranged more nicely on a plate, but not a big deal as it tasted very good. Service was very attentive.
One thing we did not like about the restaurant was the odor. As the kitchen is open, you can smell all the odors. After 2 hours in the restaurant, one leaves it with all the clothes and hair permeated with all the odors of the kitchen.
We ate here for NYC Restaurant week. The food are service are always very good, but there should be more vegetarian options, especially for dessert (many are made with gelatin).
In the evening, with a packed crowd, the music just makes a lot of unwelcome noise and severely detracts from the atmosphere.
