But close to Lincoln Center, so wildly busy when there are performances. Plan accordingly if you want quieter meal, start after the theatre crowd has left.

We arrived at 5 pm on the dot for our pre-opera meal. This was our first visit. I would recommend getting there early, as well. The dining room filled up completely by 6, and was very noisy. The staff managed beautifully, but it was certainly "energetic." Our server was hard to hear. Nonetheless, I would return in a minute for the octopus starter, the broccoli rabe, and the amazing grapefruit sorbet dessert. The last should be on everyone's bucket list.

Third visit to Boulud Sud and I think I can say that this visit on Valentines Day was underwhelming and have no plans to return in the near future. It was my "go to" when visiting NYC for the Opera but there are plenty of dining options in the Big Apple that I could explore. The regular menu was not available as a (not very special ) menu was offered for Valentines Day. This specialty menu was not available on line so the offerings were a complete surprise ( disappointment) for anyone who was looking forward to the lamb or chicken tangine. The food was very expensive, $30+ for a spinach salad? Seriously! The food is always well prepared, but the portions are small, the reservation staff is a little uppity. Did not feel that Valentines Day was celebrated in any special way ... not even a chocolate with the bill (just a mini sesame cookie). Maybe the dinner would have been better in the dining room after 7 pm but one is limited to the prix fixe menu from 5-7pm if attending the theater. Valentine fail.

Aged steak (2 measly slices) was barely warm when served. Jambon Bellota Cinco Jotas Not served at room temperature but with a slight chill which diminished the subtle taste of this wonderful ham. My wife's truffle risotto, however, was excellent, and at a fair price.

The food was generous and well prepared although vegetable was too salty/inedible. Service for a restaurant catering to theatre goers was off - twice I reminded server of curtain as I did upon confirmation. I was "pushed" to order vegetable along with Dover sole and had to remind server halfway through main course that it never arrived - no loss overly salty. The best thing on the menu is grapefruit givre - delicious refreshing creative not at all sweet! Would I return - yes but hopefully with different server.

Food was delicious! The staff were extremely accommodating and so pleasant. Bartender was great!! Pre Very nice dining experience overall before the ballet!

Celebrated my husband’s 40th birthday at Boulud Sud last Sunday, and in his own words ‘It was an amazing experience!’ We loved the ambience, the food was superb, and the service was just impeccable. Just high praise for this place, we hope to be back again soonest!
