Seated promptly, very attentive staff, difficulty hearing waitress due to noise level.
Service here was very nice. They were attentive (the host is definitely not on their cellphone here). Met a friend for lunch midweek. It started off as a quiet meal, but - after about 12:30 - it filled up very quickly and was more lively.
They have a $26 "express lunch" menu, which seemed reasonable when you consider it's a sort of high-end place. The soup was very nice, and I liked their olive oil. But, the food was sometimes too salty (the falafel!), sometimes too bland (hummus).
I don't like it when restaurants do what feels like a bait or pay much more and get excellent.
Friend get together!
good fish en papilloteI, I am watching my cholesterol and appreciate lean options, some dishes too creamy, too tempting! C’est la vie- will go back, good ambiance, great quick service.
The food and the service was good. It was unfortunate that we were seated at the table which felt cool draft and noisy corner despite my request of quiet & comfortable setting. I also request a special attention on birthday when I made a booking but nothing happened. However, over all it was a nice occasion and certaionly the food was very satisfying.
Incredible meal. Service impeccable.
Limited menu , pre concert. slow service, almost missed 8 pm concert. Arrived at 6 pm.
I ate dinner at Boulud Sud with friends last Saturday evening, prior to the opera. We have eaten there many times, and the food and service were very good, as usual. It remains a great choice for dinner before Lincoln Center performances. The only downside to this restaurant, and it has become more pronounced recently, relates to the mandatory prix-fixe menu in the early evening. The prix-fixe early dinner is understandable -- it certainly is faster and easier for the restaurant staff when many diners have an 8 p.m. curtain. However, the number of choices seems to have been seriously curtailed recently. On Saturday, there were only six choices for the main course, and two of them had substantial supplements. Additionally, while the price of $65 for a three-course meal (assuming, of course, that no dish with a supplement is ordered) is not bad at all, the only option with the prix-fixe is to order more food than I ever would order a la carte, and far more food than I need or want to eat prior to attending a lengthy performance. That said, I certainly will continue to eat at Boulud Sud pre-theater. I just wish that they would make a few menu adjustments.
The French scrambled eggs are heavenly!
Lovely saturday brunch...mezze was fantastic and chicken was delicious, as were the lemon ricotta pancakes.
Don’t understand the no-corkage fee policy.
Had an extremely good meal and fantastic experience at Boulud Sud on a Friday evening in early December. Started with cocktails (specifically, two Manhattans) at the bar which were well-made by very capable and hospitable bartenders - when (not if) I go back, I would recommend sitting at the bar if alone or with a friend/partner given the social layout. Later sat at a table and was fortunate to have received exceptional drink service (by Erin) and food service (by James). The Wagyu beef, side of carrots and salmon tartare were all more than satisfactory, but my favorite item was the Buckwheat Rigatoni pasta offering with shaved black truffle on top. It was savory and rich, creating the perfect comfort food for a winter night. James was also kind (and smart) to put it on separate plates for my friend and I without being prompted. I recommend for someone who values a well-rounded dining 'experience' that features a combination of quality food and ingredients, world-class service and a vibrant (but not too loud) ambiance; that is what executive chef Brian Arruda and manager Marcellin Fal have built for customers at Boulud Sud. I expect to become a regular at this restaurant. Make sure to save some room for dessert!
relaxed sophistication with delicious mediterranean food and exquisite service. for the wonderful lunch, i recommend selecting the sardinian lemon bottarga pasta! (little quibble, the house bottled sparkling water is not actually on the house, just fyi).
Best octopus I eva had!!!
The restaurant was very crowded and tables were close together. It was noisy for a restaurant which is supposed to be elegant dining. What really annoyed me was that the server spoke such poor English I was unable to communicate sufficiently to understand a complicated menu and take proper care of my important special guests. The food was good but not as good as we expected, considering the reputation and price. Would not return.
We ate here on a Tuesday night in December. We had reservations, which I think got us seated in a quieter part of the restaurant. Otherwise, it can be noisy. We had the sea bass in parchment paper and the lobster risotto. Both delicious, but the sea bass was better. We will come back here.
Wonderful as always
We were having an Opera weekend. This restaurant has a prix fixe menu designed for theatre goers; however, there is quite a range of food options. The food is fresh, clean to the palate, absolutely delicious, and portions are substantial. Food is served hot (when it should be) and is beautifully plated. Waitstaff are on point! The furnishings and decor are well appointed. An altogether perfect experience.
Very nice brunch, food very precise and flavorful, room and service pleasant, and prix fixe menu is reasonable value. Definitely plan to return when we again have LincolnCenter tickets
Food was great- some interesting customers!!!
Everything was great and thanksgiving atmosohere was joyful. Food was very good although a bit overpriced. All in all very pleasant evening thanks to good service and frendly staff.
Thanksgiving dinner - disappointing!!!
A unique meal that was superb in every possible way.
Outstanding food.
Even though I requested a table further from kitchen for a business dinner and I arrived one hour early just to make sure; we were seated right by the kitchen! Manager confirmed that we wouldn’t be next to kitchen but window back corner of the restaurant! Such a disappointment!
It was an excellent experience - delicious food, exquisite service, lovely atmosphere. We would recommend this place to our friends.
Boulud Sud is a wonderful place to meet and catch up with an old friend. Extensive, good choices for a fine meal. A bit pricey for some items, but excellent in many respects. We loved the sardines escabeche, the octopus impeccable, the courage and fresh and melting in my mouth. What a lovely brunch. Funny, at Boulud, I did not expect a waiter to not know how to answer when I asked do you serve dark roast? Instead I was asked a 2 or 3 times if I wanted regular or decaf. That was unexpected.
The food is always quite good, but somehow our meal took over four hours this time. Unacceptably slow service, even from perfectly pleasant staff, does not make for a good night.
Two thumbs up!!
Our second dining experience at Boulud Sud in 10 days. Both times we had amazing dinner. Not only was food terrific, the wait staff were friendly polite attentive and NO attitude!
Highly recommend. Our new favorite.
Amazing food & excellent service! Especially the desserts ( grapefruit givre is my favorite!! Omg sooooo delicious!) fluke as appetizer was good too. Chicken was amazing . Everything was good.
The food is consistently good. Service is competent but could be friendlier.
My favorite. Wonderful food. Good atmosphere and attentive service. Love it.
We had eaten at Boulud restaurants in Palm Beach and Washington, DC., and chose this restaurant for a special day visit toNew York. We enjoyed excellent food, wine, and service. Many thanks to the staff for an exceptional evening. Brit
Outstanding food!
Service was well-timed and friendly, wines were affordable."
I return again and again. A beautiful room, wonderful service, delicious food. What more can you ask for?
It's one of our favorite mid town spots. My husband is vegan and I am not - the menu can deliciously accommodate us both.
A pleasure to see it full and clients enjoying themselves
We had the paella dinner that is available on Sundays only. It was a great value. Most importantly, the paella, drinks and dessert were delicious. Service was attentive without being intrusive. We are glad that Boulud Sud, a gem of a restaurant, is in our neighborhood.
