Love the food and ambiance but we have never had very good service any of the times we have dined there. The waiters are neglectful and disappear for long periods of time.
The perfect place to warm up on a cold gloomy NYC night. The food and service is always excellent and the location is ideal. I always feel welcome and the sommelier astounds me with options/suggestions. My only constructive feedback is the interior is ready for an update.
The staff was very welcoming. They bad the gift of showing up at the perfect moments. The meals tasted great and the propotions, again, perfect. Then therw was the tastw of EVERYRHING. The ambience is quietly elegant, andcomfortable.
Consistently good. Noisier on Saturday than mid week - as expected. Also very professional and efficient service even when under a deadline because of a concert across the street.
Food was spectacular and the waitress we had was knowledgeable and pleasant. Only problem is they took to long getting our food to us and we almost missed the beginning of the show we were seeing that night. Still an amazing experience though.
Perfect from beginning to end! Can't wait to return.
I was surprised the risotto truffle dish -- was so skimpy. I couldn't be more than 1/8 cup of risotto on the plate. The truffle was ample enough -- or maybe it looked bountiful next to the skimpy portion of risotto. It could be a visual restaurant trick to make the truffle look more than it was.
Just wow!!! I consider myself to be a “foodie”. They have the best hummus I have ever had in my life! Food was utterly divine and it should be on everyone’s Bucket List to eat here - no matter where you live!!
As always a welcoming reception and a concern for diners' comfort. Inventive Mediterranean food and attentive, friendly service. I always look forward to dining here.
It's really too bad that this well-appointed restaurant of Chef Boulud just misses the mark for "Very Good"; actually, his casual place around the corner, Bar Boulud hits it MUCH better; too bad, it's such a lovely space.
I will say that once again the selection of wines by the glass are truly superb, best in the city! But they are at Bar Boulud too, so that's where I'll have my next glass; maybe if the food can be refined we'll be back, but not till then.
Excellent food and service. Tables are not too close together which really allows for good conversational tones. Have eaten here repeatedly. Always a winner!
The food is great, no question about that. The service is very American, a lot of bright happy well-trained people, and a secondary staff that re-tops your waterglass after every sip. You will be interrupted and asked about water regardless whether your confessing a mortal sin or proposing marriage, or simply arriving at the punchline of a good story. Because water. Even tough it was an off-theater night and the place was half empty I had to pick from the Prix fixe Menü, but that was clearly declared when I made the reservation. I may be pouty over being treated like a toddler when it comes to choices or changes, but I can’t pretend I didn’t know that going in. It’s quite brightly lit, so not exactly romantic or clandestine, but not as loud as many other NY restaurants. Nonetheless: the food is brilliant, and I’ve gone back many times
Great pre-theater dinner, very creative and tasty dishes
If I could give this restaurant 10 stars on here I would. The food was delicious and very flavorful. The courses were timed perfectly and I would highly recommend coming here for a nice romantic dinner.
Loved it! Great food! It never disappoints. The hardest part is making a choice.
The Sunday paella special was great food and an excellent value. Service (James) was accommodating and not overbearing. It was a pleasant experience after a wonderful Lincoln Center show.
Fabulous Mediterranean! Perfect, light brunch. Do t miss the Harbor BreeE & the Bric
The food is excellent but the service is getting worse and worse. I hope they do something about that.
The restaurant calms down a little after the pre-opera/concert/ballet crowd leaves and the menu flips from prix fixe to the full dinner menu. The food is excellent, service efficient but not rushed, wine advice reliable, and the pricing fair for this location in NYC. This restaurant has kept its standards high over the years and merits revisiting.
Friends birthday and we were seated soon after arriving for our pre theater dinner. Tables were close enough together that the waiters and bussers kept knocking into my chair. Luckily the table was large enough that I was able to move to another chair.
We both enjoyed our dinners but we both found the food overly salty and I like salt. Service was professional.
Always the best pre-theater!
Our evening at Boulud Sud was outstanding in all aspects. The ambience was fresh and the food was incredibly good and very creative. The best of all was our exceptional service. We were there for a pre theater dinner which I have done at many NY restaurants. The service was exceptional because we felt well taken care of by an efficient and attentive staff, but we left for the show at just the right time without feeling rushed through our meal. I will definitely be back and will recommend it to friends.
All good on all levels. This is a consistently great restaurant for food, for conversation and for convenience when attending Lincoln Center.
High quality food.
Thank you for a superlative dining experience.
Delightful pre-Opera price-fixe dinner with interesting food beautifully prepared and impeccable servic
We enjoyed everything about our meal here. The staff was attentive, polite, and helpful. Service was very professional. We had a pre-theater prix-fixe meal that was an outstanding value for the quality and quantity of food. The grilled octopus appetizer was about the best we'd ever had. We also really appreciated a good list of high-quality half bottles of wine. We hope to return on future visits to the city.
This is our 4th time attending the New Year’s Eve dinner. Have loved it each time. Plan to continue the tradition.
I wanted to treat myself to a nice meal so I came here alone for lunch. I thought about doing the prix fix but ended up ordering a la carte from the menu. I had the lamb flatbread and the patatas bravas and to drink the negroni. All were absolutely delicious and I will for sure be back. Great service, great food and great drinks.
We live in the neighborhood but have never tried this place. We were seated between two parties and felt a bit tight and uncomfortable. But after that, things improved quite a bit. Our waiter was very attentive, and all the food was delicious. Daniel's chicken tagine is a must try. Pricing is on the higher side, but each dish gives you a good portion, so don't order too many dishes. We'll definitely come back.
Great from beginning to end. Large wine list, great help in deciding which wine to order. Excellent, very attentive wait staff. Delicious food, beautifully presented. Looking forward to our next visit.
We went on a Sunday and LOVED it! The space is open, airy, and inviting.
We started with the Mediterranean Mezze (GET THIS). The best hummus and babaganoush i've ever hard!! We also got an order of Crispy wild mushrooms- they were delicious, and the lime aioli they were served with was perfect- only feedback would be regarding the breading: some pieces had way more than others.
I had Pancetta wrapped Quail and my husband got the Sea Bass. Mine was exquisitely savory and satiating; the foie gras was the perfect addition. Husband's Sea Bass was less unique but still delicious and cooked perfectly.
We ended with a Pecan Malabi (it's similar to a gelee/or custard)- nice balance of nutty and sweetness; intersting pairing with the green apple ice cream.
Overall, a great dining experience. Highly recommend!
Everything is great at Boulud Sud- from the tables not being so close to each other, to the inpeccable service and delicious food. You just can't ever go wrong.
The service and food were amazing. My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Love this place. The food is completely fantastic, with lots of exciting options for everyone, and they are very accommodating of dietary restrictions and preferences. Highly recommended!
Food was tasty but expensive. Service disorganized and not the caliber one would expect from a restaurant of this level. Even saw a waiter stick his nose in a clean wine glass before settling it down on the table(disgusting.) We ordered a side of mushrooms that arrived as we were finishing our main course. They apologized but still charged us!! Also kept trying to push truffles on us even after we said we didn’t care for them- guess because they were $60. Overall disappointing experience. Dessert best part. Get the grapefruit specialty dessert. It’s awesome!!
The staff was poorly educated about the difference between a seed and a nut in regards to a food allergy issue. Not a good sign at a fine restaurant where food is supposed to be the expertise. My companion’s special risotto was severely undercooked and over flavored with lemon zest, lacking any depth or subtlety, it wasn’t well executed. My food was acceptable but not commensurate in taste and quality with the expectations of the establishment. Bar Boulud is a better choice between the two.
Great pre-theater meal and dining experience on Saturday December 29. My wife and I each had pasta with white truffles which was outstanding. I enjoyed the Dourade with romesco sauce and my wife loved the Dover sole. My grapefruit gevre dessert was refreshing and delicious.
On a very busy night the kitchen and front of the house were in synch . Boulud Sud , for us, has gotten even better and is now on our permanent rotation list.
Loved the hostess. Great dessert.
Boulud Sud is my "go to" choice in the Lincoln Center area. It is always dependable for excellent cuisine full of flavor and rich textures served with impeccable attention to general needs and especially to dietary needs. The Mediterranean flavors are authentic and beautifully crafted. I am never disappointed.
Always a pleasure, my last experience with the pre-concert prix-fix was no different. Sometimes a prix-fix can feel restrictive, but here they allow you many options aside from the main choices (some with up-charges and some not) which makes for a much more flexible meal choice. The pressure from an instantly full dining room and clients all with a set departure time (Lincoln Center is just across Broadway from the restaurant) would set a lesser restaurant into chaos, but not here. Monsieur Fal and crew handle it all with aplomb and manage to serve outstanding meals - the result of a well-trained staff and management which is not above doing whatever it takes - really quite a feat and rather exciting to watch.
Speaking to the dishes, my GAMBAS AL AJILLO was heavenly: perfectly cooked shrimp with a garlic and butter sauce for which they provide their own focaccia for dipping. The DOVER SOLE “MÉDITERRANÉE” was also spectacular. Really, the Mediterranean theme provides the chefs with a wonderful assortment of influences with which to work.
No hesitation on returning here; whether pre-concert or otherwise. Merci a tous!
