An excellent UWS location across from Lincoln Center for lunch or dinner. An eclectic, relatively light, Mediterranean menu with superb service.
Anne, Barbara and I shared twp apps: sardines and a linguini and seppi dish, both excellent. Anne and I both had the sea bass in papiote. We shared a sorbet dessert and a bottle of White Burgundy Thibert. Delicious
After numerous prior favorable dinners, this week's visit was a disappointment. The quality of the food ranged from uneven to poor. It appeared that the mandatory choice of the prix fixe, pre-theatre dinner has little, if any, commitment to the usual high standard of the restaurant. Also, the service was best characterized as sloppy and inattentive, e.g., our cocktails did not arrive until the end of the first course; we needed two separate requests for dining flatware, the bill was brought while we were still eating AND 45 minutes before our 'curtain', etc.
On balance, this is a "poor value" choice relative to numerous other superior alternatives in the Lincoln Center area.
Great restaurant as you would expect from Daniel Boulud. The mezze is excellent as is the shrimp cooked in olive oil and garlic and the baked salt branzino. Top notch service, relatively quiet - highly recommend.
Excellent, friendly service throughout our meal. Every part of our meal was presented well and highlighted the various spices and nuances - nothing was overpowering. The mezze plate and smoked cod roe were scrumptious appetizers. Our entrees, Moroccan Chicken, lamb shank, and wagyu beef, all received thumbs up from our table.
Elegant restaurant in a great Lincoln Center location. All dishes excellent, but I would focus on the
seafood. Not cheap, but a terrific experience!
It is our favorite pre-theater restaurant in the Lincoln Center area. We dine there at least once a week.
Our table attendant was par excellence. I did not get his name. He was a Frenchman, tall lean with spectacles immaculate manners and a wonderful personality. Dinner was delicious and the variety even in a pre fixe 3 course meal was varied. Excellent overall experience.
My go-to restaurant when I’m in NYC. Prices reflect a definitively superb service staff, elevated ingredients and an inventive cuisine. Sommelier always helps choose the perfect wine, waitress knew exactly what dish I would like best. Vegetarian daughter always thrilled with sophisticated choices (white truffles on starter). Right portions, incredible flavors, and a relaxed atmosphere. Never disappoints. Try the 30 year old Marsala with dessert!
Boulud Sud used to be a favorite dining spot in New York. The recent visit was sadly a disappointment. Whereas the service was excellent, the food wasn’t what it used to be. Sadly the risotto resembled rice pudding and was not properly seasoned. The two different types of fish as main courses were so tiny that they could have been appetizers, not to mention that the cost of 4 small shrimp for an appetizer was almost as much as a main course. We hope that the food issues are temporary, and perhaps a result of a very busy evening? The ambiance is still a winner, but it’s after all the food that should be the main draw of a restaurant of this caliber.
Extraordinarily good food in a beautiful setting. Only modest complaint is the wine list. 4x retail is aggressive even in NY.
Always unparalleled cuisine & service in a serene, elegant setting. The prix-fixe is superb value and the perfect way to begin a festive evening before an arts event. Many thanks to the entire staff for yet another gracious and delicious meal.
A warm, welcoming dining experience. I look forward to repeating it.
Tasty food, attentive service, and a clean and bright midtown dining room. Very conveniently across the street from Lincoln Center.
This is quite Daniel Boulud quality, which is how it's priced, but it's still very good.
The service is spotty - some tables get full attention, and others not enough. I was asked three times whether the "truffle box" had been brought around, promoting the special menu, but it never did.
wonderful room, good food, great service, enjoyed a leisurely and tasty lunch
Lovely. We had pasta specials and a beautiful burratta salad post Philharmonic. One pasta, the buckwheat rigatoni rage, was super delicious with a great depth of flavor, however lemon linguine was sadly a bit of a disappointment. They were very nice and offered a replacement but we declined as it was getting terribly late.
Boulud Sud is always excellent. The pre-theater prix fixe is delicious, filling, and served on time. I have eaten there many times before Lincoln Center events, and I always look forward to the next event.
I like the restaurant a lot but it is too expensive for regular visits, sadly.
Overall, very good. I go often and am very happy to see it continue to be as good as always. Noise sometimes an issue, prices are high but I guess not too high comparatively. Service is always excellent.
Delicious! And portion size was normal. Staff was wonderful.
Food was excellent and so was the service.
Lunch prefix was a great deal and my husband ordered it and had a very good experience and really good margez sandwich. I ordered a $24 Turkish pide and it couldn't have been farther away an interpretation of a Turkish pide as one could imagine so I don't know what they are thinking. Brunch at 2pm commanded a smaller crowd but the service was considerably slow, courteous but ineffective.
We had a wonderful time and were out in plenty of time to make our show. Food was superb and the white truffle was yummy!
Very enjoyable evening. Food was delicious, service excellent, and noise level not too loud to allow conversation !
Everything was as good as always, great restaurant.
This was my fourth time at the restaurant. I will chalk it up to an off night . Service was very spotty. Busboy only made an appearance twice . The dourade was not interesting. Why was it it on plain quinoa ? A strange choice . I was sorry I ordered it . Great bottle of white basque wine . And the grapefruit desert is still one of the best in the city .
The food was delicious, if overpriced. Wine and cocktails especially overpriced.
My table service was exquisite. But I was treated rather rudely at the bar, where I sat and ordered a drink because of an early arrival. I first sat at the corner, since there were a lot of people seated around the rest of the bar. I was told (not asked, and there was nothing polite about the way he spoke to me) to move by the bartender, who said that those two seats were reserved, even though the entire 20 minutes I waited there, jammed between people and facing the back of the soda or beer machine, no one came to sit there.
Once my friends had arrived, and we were shown to our lovely table, we were waited on elegantly, with no pressure to close out during our after-dinner conversation.
It really comes down to one snooty bartender who should not speak to customers in that fashion. Or...how about placing a simple "RESERVED" sign on the corner bar seats if indeed they are reserved?
Imaginative menu, served with taste. Fairly long wait for drinks & the meal but we did make our show time.
Always a delightful experience with amazing food and excellent service.
We go to Boulud Sud every year for our anniversary, because it's the perfect combination of food, service, and atmosphere. It's always a wonderful experience.
FABULOUS! FROM START TO FINISH THIS WAS A PERFECT EVENING. EAGER TO GO BACK!
Great food and great ambiance. The Harrissa Lamb burger was delicious..
Overall, the food was good, but was it good value? Not so sure. There were so many people attending us that I am sure the price of the meal went more to paying them than to the kitchen and the food. For those who feel important when waiters fawn over them, I guess it’s a good place. But I care more about the food .
However, the scallops were divine ! The tagine was not. Something was lost in trying to Americanize this North African delight. Maybe it wasn’t cooked for eight hours. Next time we will go to Europe for tagine.
The wine by the glass was not impressive. Expensive, but ho-hum.
The desert - pistachio something - was great, but I don’t go to restaurants for dessert .
All consistently perfect
A bit too many service interruptions throughout the evening
The food was very good but not amazing. The service was inattentive. We waited almost ten minutes to be offered a menu and water. We were offered more bread, which never appeared and then the bread plates were cleared too soon. Not what we expected from a restaurant of this reputation.
As always, excellent food and service. I could have wished my water glass not be refilled quite so frequently. It became intrusive. Noise level very bothersome.
Special celebration for our daughters 21st birthday brunch! Food decor service all wonderful!
We will be back ❤️
It is unfortunate when a surly waiter with a poor attitude can make or break an experience. It was most unfortunate that it happened. One expects better from this restaurant. We had eaten at the Modern the night before and found it so much more of a great experience
