But close to Lincoln Center, so wildly busy when there are performances. Plan accordingly if you want quieter meal, start after the theatre crowd has left.
We enjoyed a lovely pre ballet Valentine’s Day dinner-thx to all for making a special day a special day with a wonderful meal and attentive service!
Aged steak (2 measly slices) was barely warm when served. Jambon Bellota Cinco Jotas Not served at room temperature but with a slight chill which diminished the subtle taste of this wonderful ham. My wife's truffle risotto, however, was excellent, and at a fair price.
The food was generous and well prepared although vegetable was too salty/inedible.
Service for a restaurant catering to theatre goers was off - twice I reminded server of curtain as I did upon confirmation. I was "pushed" to order vegetable along with Dover sole and had to remind server halfway through main course that it never arrived - no loss overly salty.
The best thing on the menu is grapefruit givre - delicious refreshing creative not at all sweet!
Would I return - yes but hopefully with different server.
Food was delicious! The staff were extremely accommodating and so pleasant. Bartender was great!! Pre Very nice dining experience overall before the ballet!
Celebrated my husband’s 40th birthday at Boulud Sud last Sunday, and in his own words ‘It was an amazing experience!’ We loved the ambience, the food was superb, and the service was just impeccable. Just high praise for this place, we hope to be back again soonest!
My girlfriend and I immensely enjoyed our dining experience at Boulud Sud. The service, food and presentation were exemplary. The Restaurant Week menu was quite interesting and varied. The Grapefruit Givre was exceptional and lived up to its billing as the restaurant's "signature" dessert. I look forward to returning.
Wonderful experience, delicious food and great service
Sunday Brunch is a delight. A lovely range of dishes are offered, and the 3-course Brunch is a very fair $35. Service was also excellent. I did lower the "value" rating one star, because while we asked for a basic white wine, and then we each had a second glass - - we did not ask the price or see the wine list by the glass. When the check came, we were surprised that our 4 glasses of "basic" white wine were $76 and our 2 Brunches were only $70. Is a "basic" wine really $19 a glass???
Next time I will insist on seeing the wine list with prices before we order.
We’ve been here twice on our biyearly visits to the city. The food is always consistently good.
great service, interesting and excellent food. nice atmosphere. oddly enough the grapefruit dessert was the most amazing part of the meal, worth the trip on its own
We tried this neighborhood restaurant for Restaurant Week and were very pleased with the food and service. The rating, however, is not fully five star because of the high noise level. Although I would recommend this to friends, it is with the caveat about the noise. I and my friends are seniors who prefer to be able to talk to each other without shouting to be heard.
Love the food here - service is outstanding, as is every dish.
I’ve eaten at Boulud Sud before. Previously, I had a wonderful time ordering the chef’s tasting menu with paired wines. This past dinner was disappointing. Ordered chicken tagine which was shockingly ordinary. I would have ordered fish, but sadly none of the offerings were local. I would think twice before going again.
Prompt seating, attentive service (we were headed to the Opera afterwards). Our waiter was superb, made a special occasion even more special. Menu was creative and delicious.
Top notch experience across the board!
We are somewhat elderly, and also vegan, so it is hard to find a place that offers good food at rational prices and also has vegan options. Having eaten at Boulud for lunch and found it to be well worth the cost, we invited (also elderly and fussy) relatives during Restaurant Week. We were resigned to not finding anything on the Restaurant Week Prix Fix that we could eat and assumed a salad and a side dish would suffice. Instead our wait person offered an "off the menu" eggplant dish that was excellent and included on the prix fixe. She also pointed out a salad and dessert that could be modified for us. Our guests also chose the prix fixe and they were delighted with both the food and the ambience. at one point a fish in parchment was delivered to one of our guests who had trouble with it and it was returned and cme back "naked" and easier to eat. All in all a wonderful experience that is hard to find in highly rated restaurants.
Like it a lot! great food, service and location! Boulud is a warranty
As always with Boulud Sud, we had delicious and creatively prepared food, impeccable service, and a warm and lovely atmosphere. We can't think of a better restaurant to have a memorable meal or time.
I have wanted to go for awhile and am glad we finally did. We had a lovely dinner at Boulud Sud. It is a charming restaurant with servers that are professional and friendly. The food is unusual and not what you get every day and was a real treat from beginning to end.
A friend offered to take me out in honor of my birthday before a NY Philharmonic concert. I chose Boulud Sud because it is near Lincoln Center, but also because I knew it to be a home of fine dining. I wasn't disappointed. I felt like a celebrity due to the care & charm of the service afforded my companion & I & the food didn't disappoint either. It was seasonal, beautiful & delicious. I was eager to show my friend a true fine dining experience. She doesn't usually like restaurants & prefers to dine at home. The next day she sent me an email saying that she had a truly delightful evening.
It was New York Restaurant Week and the food was very good. Will eat there again
A favorite! Fabulous food and service would recommend any time
Always scrumptious food. Always the best service around. Always comfortable and pleasant.
It was wonderful
Outstanding all around, can’t wait to go back👍!
I've eaten at Boulud Sud several times and the food was always extraordinary. Not this time. Perhaps it was the Restaurant Week menu. Very disappointing, except for the dessert which was wonderful.
Our son (age 9) specifically requested to go to Boulud Sud for his birthday dinner. We’ve been here numerous times before and have never been disappointed. The food is always delicious and service is impeccable.
We had a fabulous experience with Benjamin and with our servers. They were incredibly attentive and took great care to accommodate my companion’s food allergies. The food was great!
On Sunday, February 2, 2020, my wife and I had dinner there during the NYC Winter Restaurant Week. It was excellent. We had the appetizer (shrimps). My wife had the grilled Daurade for her main course. I had the sea bass for my main course. For her dessert, my wife had the Greek Yogurt Mousse. For my dessert, I had the Lingot Au Chocolate. The service was excellent. It was quiet.
Exceptional service, food had delicious Mediterranean flavors, and it was a lovely experience. Looking forward to returning.
Very disappointed by the food. This is supposed to be a great French Chef! The food was more than average. I will never come back and will tell people NOT to go.
We experienced a wonderful pre-ballet brunch menu. The food, burgundy wine and service were impeccable.
It was a lovely atmosphere, but the waitress was rude as was the manager. They brought me the wrong food and then my order was brought uncooked and the rest of the table was finished as it took so long. They made a new one and that took even longer. The manager talked to the waitress not far from us and you can see she was not happy. Then they charged us for the food and gave us a free dessert. They asked us if we wanted dessert and we said no and they said they gave us a free dessert instead of taking off the one lunch. I thanked them anyway and the manger never even said anything even we are sorry or good bye. An awful experience.
A Great restaurant before the opera and food , service is fabulous
Only a $65 prix fixe menu was available, something that should be made clear on the website. Menu posted outside the restaurant said nothing about prix fixe.
We waited almost 20 minutes for the check, after having asked for it twice. Service had been good up to that point, but we left with a very negative feeling about the place.
Best part of the meal was the flatbread
Great location a stone's throw from Lincoln Center. We had a lovely pre-theater dinner. They called me in advance to ask about food allergies/restrictions. Service and food were excellent!
We ordered prix fixe dinner and Moroccan chicken tagine and grilled lone mountain American wagyu beef were excellent.
This place always delivers impeccable food and sophisticated but hearty meals. A locals favorite.
