The food, wine, service, and ambience all are perfect and special at Boulud Sud. We love going here. The restaurant week menu was fantastic, also!
Amazing food. No words can describe it
Noisy. Great service from Herold—he was great. This was at dinner.
Excellent food! There is something for everyone on the Restaurant Week menu! No skimpy portions here! Every dish was excellent! Good cocktails too! And the service!
All great, delicious and excellently prepared!
Delicious food, exemplary service and congenial atmosphere; Boulud Sud has become one of our “go to” favorites
Excellent food and service----a favorite of ours! Go there both pre-Lincoln Center and for celebrations!
Everything was great. The food was delicious and the service was perfect.
Great restaurant but has an old, dowdy customer base.
This restaurant is consistently five. The staff, the food, everything is always just perfect as it was tonight
A very enjoyable dining experience. Service, ambiance and food...excellent.
A perfect place for a dinner before a Lincoln Center event. And during Restaurant Week, this must be among the best meals one can find. There is ample choice, including several items that require a modest supplemental charge (above the $42 prix fixe). We were so impressed by how delicious everything was, and the ample portions as well. And attentive and unobtrusive service. Truly a 5-star experience.
We were seated at the first table by the entrance to the main dining area - a lot of coming and going. and somewhat noisy. The waiter could have been a little bit more attentive - by contrast he spent a good amount of time with the couple seated next to us.
Part of the problems with restaurants belonging to great chefs is that you go there with great expectations, and that they tend to bump up their prices. Boulud Sud is a nice place, but that does not live to the expectations one may have for such a restaurant: the food is boring. Most of the originality, of the liveliness of the Mediterranean food had been tamed down to the point of being dull. The Taramasalata was very suave, but it had more to do with a cream spread than with cured fish roe. I had an octopus that could have been overcooked veal; the chicken in the tagine could have come in any other chicken dish and the lemon and turnip were sluggish, drown into too much of a sauce that had itself not much to do with tagine. Am I really supposed to pay $ 35 for such a boring adaptation of an otherwise very nice popular and modest Marocan dish? As for the wines, you may decide to pay $ 175 for Hervé Bizeul delicious little Sorcières du Clos des Fées but you are being robed, since it comes out of the domaine at € 12 and you can buy it next door for $ 17. You would be better off getting a glass of Roc des Anges, since this glass will only cost you the price of the bottle.
Regarding the ambiance, it is a very nice place: beautiful volumes, thanks to the isolated bar, and above all the two vaulted ceilings. Still, I find the blown up Van Gogh and Cézanne a bit kitch. As for the paper table cloth, it is so absolutely cheap!
My server was not attentive.
Restaurant is great, food was great. But...
Pasta happy hour is one of the best deals in town. Food is consistently good and service is immaculate. Great place to grab a bite after a concert at Lincoln Center.
Great spot well designed
This was a fabulous, albeit expensive, pre-opera dinner
The restaurant offers (only) a prefixe $65 pp menu from 5-7 Monday through Friday. Perfect food and service, with one glass of wine each plan on at least $230.00 for 2 with tax and tip
Our waiter Julian was superior. Congrats and your staff
Sophisticated and charming
With perfect service
And a pleasant and varied, but modest menu
The pre theatre menu is a great value
Finally, and most importantly, the food is
We have a new favorite restaurant in the city. The food was excellent, the service was outstanding. Highly recommended for someone looking for inventive food of a high caliber.
Food was delicious and beautifully presented. Service impeccable and efficient. Lovely ambiance and decor. Will definitely be back and recommend to our friends back in Canada!
This is a beautiful restaurant with excellent service, great menu and food, and all-around comfort and style. It is what you think of when you have in mind fine dining in NYC. Very creative dishes prepared beautifully, along with an outstanding wine list. Great location right across the street from Lincoln Center. Boulud Sud is the fine dining restaurant which is adjacent to Bar Boulud which also serves food, but has a different menu.
We have eaten here many times since it is in the neighborhood and the overall experience is quite good. The food is excellent albeit expensive. The tables are not close together so there is a sense of privacy. The noise level is fine. It's really a nice place to dine. The service is just okay. It just to be more attentive; this time, I had to look around for a waiter at times but it did not diminish the experience. Definitely one of the best restaurants on the UWS.
Alejandro at the bar was the epitome of hospitality. The food was delicious but he really made the dining experience something extraordinary.
This is the first time we dined at Boulud Sud and we really enjoyed it. The place was very elegant. The food was great. I had the Steak and eggs and it was perfectly done. My husband had the Salmon and eggs and it was so good too. We had a few other things and they were so good too.
Service was first class. Drinks were always refilled. We never had to ask. They were always there. The food came in perfect timing.
This was truly an experience to be remembered. We will definitely be back.
Way too loud if you are in the 50+ crowd
Tables crammed together
Service is well meaning, but we had to be vigilant--indeed, aggressively vigilant -- to get out in time for the opera.
The service was very good, has a very nice atmosphere and and the restaurant is in a great location near Lincoln Center. But the food (limited to the prix fix menu at the time we were there) was not particularly memorable, except for the grapefruit givre for dessert.
Awesome restaurant. Great service. Excellent food!
Very good place for brunch.
The mushroom soup was tasty and I likely to be surpassed anywhere. The main course, steak and eggs, was excellent, but the portion could have been larger. The potatoes had a bit too much spice on them. The dessert which was three ice creams was superb.
The restaurant undercooked a chicken entre and it needed to be sent back. When we got the bill they had left both the old dish and the new one we ordered on the check. After an awkward flag down of the host, they removed it from the bill, but I was surprised they did not comp our coffee or send over a glass of wine considering the style and price point of the restaurant. It was nice, but drinks were about $10 a piece overpriced, bread was stale, and the service wasn’t spectacular. Very expensive.
Friendly and very attentive service. Fantastic food.
We had a wonderful time. Only complaint was we had to ask three times for more chips and they finally arrived after we finished the course.
A very good experience but did not live up to expectations. The dining room attractive and comfortable with an open kitchen and large staff. The food was excellent, however, the chicken tagine had excellent crisp skinned chicken, it does not, however, live up to the expectation one has for a Moroccan tagine. When we sat down, the waiter presented us with Pre Fix menus. The menus we viewed in the website were A La Carte menus. I asked the waiter for them and after some time and a discussion the waiter had with a floor manager, they finally came. Also, a server brought over to our table wine glasses and a bottle of wine. We had only ordered cocktails.
Reliable as ever! Convenient location, great food and service. Couldn’t ask for more.
It was a reunion with my brother, who has been sailing across the Pacific for 9 months. He was happier to see a Tagine than any fish on earth. And the crudo was exceptional
They get everything right; the staff, the food, the room. All near perfect.
I loved everything about it: my waitress, Liliaa was wonderful. The food was delicious at high NY prices, but service and quiet atmosphere was the best?
Lovely service and ambiance. Food is outstanding. Highly recommend for any occasion.
Best dining option close to Lincoln Center.
