5-Star service for the Sunday Night Paella Special. The food was beautifully presented and delicious. The sangria was strong and refreshing. Only quibble, half the tapas were not suitable for a party of four--two falafels and two tiny fresh anchovies. The quantity of the other tapas--marcona almonds and green olives were--were fine.
Everything was perfect. The food was delicious and the service was impeccable.
Pastas were delicious but all three were lukewarm at best. It seems to be a French take on Mediterranean food, with most dishes not having the expected levels of spice. We love many of the sister restaurants but likely won’t return here. Not a bad restaurant by any means, food was well prepared, service impeccable. But too many misses for us to return.
Starting with the Cocktail list. It was most interesting and special. I had the vodka cocktail with carrot and ginger. Great tasting drink!
We shared a special Pizza that was cooked perfectly and was most tasteful and satisfying.
My Husband had the special Fettuccini topped with caviar and I ordered the quail with four gras and bing cherries.
Desert was palate cleansing concoction.
A clever Grapefruit desert topped with Halva!!
It was A lovely dinner.
Superb service, excellent cuisine. A wonderful evening!
All in our party agreed that the food is all about the visual impact. Meats, appetizers, desserts were all bland and largely flavorless. This isn't how it used to be. Something has changed, perhaps a new chef?
Service was mediocre at best. They remember to bring the wine but had to be reminded 3x about a diet coke. Waiter thinks, mistakenly, that he doesn't need a pad and pen and can take an order for four all from memory. For duplicate orders of the same meat, they failed to ask who ordered rare versus medium, and then when reminded weren't sure.
After many years going a couple times a year we are unlikely to return.
Great place for get together with friends and very good food. The stuff is a bit slowly, opportunity of improvement. Anyway I like a lot this place, I’ll comeback soon.
We came to Boulud Sud for a special meal pre-concert with a friend and were not disappointed. The menu offers a good range of selections. Each dish arrived beautifully prepared and the food was delicious. The service was excellent: knowledgeable, friendly, attentive, never intrusive. The staff timed everything perfectly so that we left in time for the concert without ever feeling rushed. The beautifully appointed room allowed for easy conversation. I look forward to dining here again.
One of the best deals in town for a quiet, elegant lunch.
Side dishes and the seafood was very good along with the wine. The appetizers were average and the lamb was full of fat. I think if you know the menu and dishes you can have a good experience but for us it was hit and miss.
Friendly welcome back, comfortable searing, great service, excellent dinner with a can't miss menu, just right for a night at Lincoln Center. We will be back again. Jason and Cheryl Blonstein
My fiance built the experience so much for me I was disappointed the duck was not available. It was a mild letdown. I was also disappointed that you received two small lamb chops when you should have at least receive a half rack for the price. The sea bass was not Chilean... that being said, the hummus appetizer was very tasty, as were the mushrooms. The sea bass was quite good, although it lacked presentation. The manager did comp us a delicious dessert of espresso gelato, rose and lemon sorbet. The Ambiance was quite good, and I would definitely go back.
Two orders arrived lukewarm. Sent back and redone.
Went there for brunch. Appetizers to share were amazing (sweet corn agnolotti and the anchovy dip). Everything was good until after they cleared out the sharing plates.
Pancake arrived the same time as appetizer but the waiter said it was for the kid and they usually would bring it to the table ASAP. That was fine. But our food didn’t come for more than 30 mins. After inquiring the kitchen literally rushed out our plates, the eggs on my Benedict were super raw - the egg whites were still largely translucent. Pretty disappointing considering we had a few good experience there before.
Expensive but nice experience!
A top ten fine dining experience for us. Exceptionally delicious and inventive food, friendly staff, nice ambiance, reasonable pricing. Would happily eat here again!
Next to Lincoln Center from which we'd come after seeing My Fair Lady.
Seated outside on a beautiful NYC afternoon.
Alas, the seating area has been covered by a construction scaffolding and has been for 4 years.
Food was French bistro[ish.] I had the fish soup which was spectacular
They should offer more vegetarian entree choices. Otherwise, a great place near Lincoln center.
We love this restaurant and we feel so fortunate to have it in our neighborhood. Absolutely every dish is delicious and the staff is superb. It can get very busy with the pre-theater crowd (be sure to make a reservation), but the operation runs like a well-piled machine.
We had a wonderful time! I would recommend this anyone. Can't wait to go back!
Surprised that they initially tried to seat us at table in the center of the dining room when I requested on open table and confirmed by phone that we needed quiet seating. We were quickly moved to a booth against a back wall.
We had a number of plates that we all thought were fabulous. Only the zucchini pizza special failed—salty and soggy. For my daughter’s birthday, she ordered the grapefruit sorbet, which came with lit candle. The dessert was spectacular and enough for all four of us to enjoy.
Absolutely loved my meal. I had the pre theatre fixed menu. My reservation was for 5:15 and had time to make it for Phantom at 8pm. Service was impeccable, I dined alone and they took great care. The Octopus a la Plancha is a must. My sea bass was cooked perfectly and if you're a citrus fan get the Grapefruit prive, the signature dessert. But my favorite was the chocolate pistachio ricotta dessert. The hostess even charged my phone for me while I dined. You won't be disappointed with your meal or service here.
We went for an early dinner after the ballet. The service was outstanding! The food at Boulud is always excellent but it’s the staff that makes this property special.
Exceptional in every regard. The service was some of, if not the best ever experienced. Attentive without being overbearing or pretentious.
It's the little things
Water glass always refilled...well timed courses...the perfect sweet ending. This restaurant is almost perfect. The fried zucchini and fluke appetizers were delicious. Couldn't get enough of them. We each elected to have the sea bass which was well cooked. The Sancerre by the glass was lovely (I would have had a second glass had our server been around). Even the latte was delicious. While service was mostly on point, towards the end of the meal, it was hard to get their attention to get the check, especially since we had alerted them that we were going to the ballet. Everything was perfectly timed until that point, but that inability to timely pay the check led to a little scurrying, and my friend wrapped up the halvah to go - which made for a superlative treat during the ballet intermission. Loved it, will return.
A disappointing post-theater dinner experience. The food was interesting and had potential, but poorly executed. With the exception of the beet tartare, which was balanced and delicious, every dish failed on some level. The zaatar flatbread (Manakeesh) was extremely salty, which made the corn agnolotti, taste very bland. The patatas bravas were overcooked (just shy of burned) and also very salty. The desert (ricotta pistacchio) was interesting, but not particularly flavorful. The drinks, on the other hand, were perfectly executed.
The consistency of food, wine, ambience, and service makes repeated visits really something to look forward to.
First time and pleasantly surprised.
Mediterranean Meze was a perfect starter. Excellent falafel.
Sea bass was perfectly cooked. Portion could have been a tad more.
Quail was delicious.
Shared a strawberry dessert that was too busy. Many layers when all it needs was the cream, berries and sorbet.
Perfect spot before a show at Lincoln Center. Staff is attentive and make them aware that you're going to a show and will get you out at the right time.
The food was a step down from the great cuisine we have had here many times in the past. It was not a very busy night, the fish of the day portion was small and seasonings we’re not done as well as Boulud sub usual level
Maybe it was a bad night, we will probably try it one more time, but if it’s the same the next time would not go back.
Have dined here at least six times, and I’ve always had great service great food and thought it was worth the high price level on those occasions.
Wonderful restaurant with interesting Mediterranean menu. We will be back.
Three friends eating before going to see Whipped Cream.
Great veggie options, chicken tagine, lamb, harissa, & eggplant flatbread, anchovies and fabulous grapefruit and
halva dessert. Our waiter Cory was very attentive and professional
Outstanding food. Servers uninterested to engage, talk about the menu and even seemed annoyed when asked for suggestions. But the food makes up for all of the above!
One word: exceptional.
The som did an outstanding job pairing our five course tasting meal.
Excellent meal and outstanding service. Food is innovative and delicious. On the pricey side. Quite atmosphere, good for couples and adult groups.
Extremely special and delicious, the entire meal was outstanding.
Food was great but portions were small
The food was really quite good and would warrant a return trip. It is hard to fathom, however, that service in a Boulud restaurant could be so abysmal even accounting for that we were sitting outside. The waiter was so busy chatting with his colleagues that he could barely bother to even pour water, ask if we wanted drinks or take an order; shrugged when we noted that the bottle of wine we had ordered was warm (which required us to have the sommelier intervene); and brought out all the food at once when the table, for sharing, ordered multiple appetizers and main courses (which normally suggests in a decent restaurant that the kitchen will organize the food delivery).
Lovely meal for anniversary dinner. The octopus is amazing.
Only negative is the dessert options - very limited if you have a nut allergy.
