Great food and service
Brittany was the best
What a disappointment. The octopus appetizer and the bread were great. The entrees weren't good at all. I had fish that was very ordinary and my friend had an Indian chicken dish with dried out chicken and not very good seasonings.
Also, because we were two women they tried to give us a really bad table. When we spoke up and asked for another one they were too pleased.
Hey, it's 2018. I shouldn't have to be a man to get a better table.
We asked the server to please let us know when it is 7:15. She promised she will get us out of the restaurant in plenty time. I looked at my watch and it was 7:27. The Met. Opera wouldn't let us in until the first intermission -- we missed that entire first act. NEVER rely on a server's promise.
Remarkable all around dining experience, as always! One of my favorite spots in Manhattan
Had $25 Express lunch. Pumpkin soup
was delicious. Also had lemon saffron linguine, absolutely wonderful. Accompanying bread excellent!
Excellent 3course prix fixe pre opera dinner. Waiter kept track of time and made certain that we were finished in good time for walk across the street to opera.
Fantastic meal and fantastic service. Our waiter was A plus!!! Great attention to detail for both our food and wine/cocktails. Completely accommodating to all our special requests. Excellent restaurant for pre/post Lincoln Center event or simply for a special occasion.
The splendid dining offered by Boulud Sud proves that Europe is just around the corner for anyone seeking authentic and creative cuisine on the Upper West Side.
Very nice place. Very good food. Service can be a bit slow and inattentive. If that’s important to you.
Had pre-opera dinner here. Crowded and noisy, but the food is very good and the service is excellent. A turn of the head to look around results in someone coming over to fill the water glass without being asked. Portions are a good size and the pre-theatre fixed price menu is large enough to find plenty to eat. Only glitch was the wrong sorbet was brought out (my wife wanted fig, not pear), but they eventually brought out the right one. Pasta and sea bass were excellent. Desserts are unusual and interesting.
Our waiter, Hatold was OUTSTANDING, and gave great suggestions, especially around wines and food pairing! The wines by the glass were high quality and interesting! The food was very creative, and attractive,y oresented.
Our BIG complaint was that after being assured in TWO separate phone calls that we would be seated at a side table, away from the noise (two of our party have hearing issues), we were seated right in the middle of the dining room (the noisiest spot in the restaurant). Despite the fact that two tables on the side were availble, the floor manager refused to reseat us, stating that if we needed an accommodation we should come earlier (we were there at 5;30). We thought that perhaps the manager would offer some token of an apology by giving us a small gratuity - perhaps another appetizer for the table, or checking in with us later. NOTHING! ALL of us struggled to hear each other throughout dinner. The noise level, and the way we were treated around this put a huge damper on the evening. Even though the service of our waiter was excellent, and the food was good, because of the nonchallance and disrespect of the manager, none of the 4 of us are incluned to return to Boulud Sud.
Food was excellent and service was outstanding! The service staff were very courteous to us and mindful of our show time (they asked) to be sure we had ample opportunity to get to our show without rushing out. If you love wine, you will enjoy the list and make it a point to ask for Mo the Sommelier! She pared a Greek White Wine with my wife's entrée (the Dover Sole) and mine (the Chicken Tagine). Fabulous choice and one I would never made without the assistance of the Wine Somm. Highly recommend!
The grapefruit givre is one of the best desserts I have tried in NYC - and I have been around: simple yet flavourful and different in the right way.
I recently returned to Boulud Sud, with friends, for the first time in year or so. As I remembered, the food was delicious and well-presented, the service terrific, and the decor elegant (if somewhat bland). All restaurants age over time, however, and Boulud Sud is no exception. I mean that literally: the dinner crowd, at 8:00 on a Friday night, was mostly middle-aged and up, sprinkled with a few young couples on dates and a table or two of 30-something investment bankers. Also, it seemed to me that the menu has been somewhat American-ified, by which I mean that there are fewer interesting middle eastern options, and the remaining dishes have been divided into standard categories like "starters," "pastas," and "mains," even though that is not necessarily how they would be served in their home countries. That was a disappointment to me. There are plenty of upscale Mediterranean restaurants in New York. I liked Boulud Sud in part because it went beyond the standards and presented fresh choices. Alas, not so much now.
Dover Sole & Sea Bass were amazing.
We were a party of four, having an early (6PM) dinner before opera at the Met. The location was perfect, but most important, all four of us agreed that the food was outstanding. It was creative (who wants to eat something that we are able to do ourselves at home) and delicious. The waitstaff were fully aware of the time pressure for diners who need to leave before curtain time. I was the only vegetarian in our group, and I do prefer having several vegetarian choices on a menu; there could have been more choice in this case, but what I did have was wonderful. Finally, the noise level was so high that it was almost impossible to hear the waiter's explanations of the various dishes, but this did not diminish our enthusiastic appreciation of Boulud Sud. We'll be back.
Very good menu
Excellent choice before going to the Met
Nice lunch on a Friday before a long weekend.
One of the most extraordinary meals of my entire life! The Chicken Tagine was magnificent. So was the rack of lamb, the egg with truffles, and the soup de poisons
Superb food. Professional service. Even for a gluten free/dairy free diner
Excellent food. You know you are eating in a fine restaurant by the way the ingredients melt in your mouth and make your tastebuds so happy.
The food and the setting were great! but they overcharged us for the wine by $15 and then were not very gracious about correcting the error. They took forever to correct the error on our credit cards and then just presented us with new bills to sign but did not give us any proof that they cancelled the original charges -- so who knows if they ended up billing us twice.
A little bit disappointing. The food is good but not excellent: the tagine was dry and tasteless. The service is good but not excellent: the sommelier was arrogant and helpless. The atmosphere is good but not excellent. Mr Boulud I was expecting probably too much from your restaurant.
Wonderful to be able to have a fine dining experience literally across the street from Lincoln Center. This vistvwas perhaps third or fourth. Food was very fine, from the mezzo first course, through the Mediterranean snapper and dorado main courses, to the frozen grapefruit dessert that at least one person at every table is guaranteed to order. Supplements to the prix fixe menu are expensive, as is all alcohol, and the coffee! But this is fine dining, what else shall we expect. Service on this particular visit was uneven. First food course appeared before cocktails. Too long to get check settled up. But food is fine, atmosphere is lively, and location can’t be beat except if one eats inside the concert hall. Looking forward to returning.
Service was outstanding. Food was delicious and very pleasing. Final ticket for two people, just a few alcoholic drinks came in at $275, which seemed about $50 higher than expected. Overall, great dining experience. Well done.
The food is always great, but the service is hit or miss. This Saturday the service was a home run.
Harold gave us outstanding service and I hope he is our waiter more often.
The dining room needs some updating. Overall we love this place when the service is as great as the food and it was because of Harold.
This is one of my go to's when in NYC when going to an event at Lincoln Center. Great location to theater.
Food is very good, service is excellent. The restaurant is perfect for a nice delicious dinner, but not for a really festive occasion
Food and service was outstanding !
Excellent service and outstanding menu. The food is sublime.
The most delicious and memorable lunch we have had in a long time. We had the express lunch which came with a complimentary soup. The soup was a pumpkin soup which was so delicious. Could have eaten a bowl full!!! We chose the Lebanese Kale Fattoush with the Mediterranean Daurade, Lemon Saffron Linguini. One of us decided to choose the dessert for an extra $7.00. The mango and cardamom vacherin dessert was outstanding.
Boulud Sud is a first class restaurant in an elegant setting. The food was excellent and we enjoyed the total experience.
Amazing lunch with friendly service and staff! We loved our server, AXEL! :-)
Ambience was good. Food was disappointing & not as good as I was expecting. Portion was very small. Overpriced. Not worth the money.
Very formulaic pre theatre service, pedestrian food and high wine markups.
I took a very good friend for his birthday here because I had like all my previous meals here. He really enjoyed the experience. We went for the $65 prix fixe which is a very good deal considering the high quality of the food. The service is excellent. The bread that they give you is always fantastic. I have never had waygu beef before and it was definitely worth the surcharge. The wine list is huge with many reasonably priced wines.
The service was very attentive. The food was very good and well presented. Good place for dinner before theatre.
Outstanding, attentive service, from reception-hosts, maitre d; , somm, waiters to bus boys.
Amazing food and ambience. I didn't, however appreciate the fact that pre-theater, one was forced to order the pre-fixe at $60 a pop. It made for the steepest restaurant bill I've ever encountered.
