The restaurant itself is very pretty. The service was very rushed though the restaurant was not busy and had to request an item three times before it was finally brought at the end of the meal after entrees were eaten. The food was fine, we didn’t find it exceptional. The service was just not good. We had the octopus appetizer, green and grain salad, branzino, and swordfish. I had an amazing experience here a few years ago but wouldn’t return after this one.
As a 15 year devotee of Daniel Boulud’s restaurants in NYC and Palm Beach, I was dying to try this new broadly Mediterranean concept of his after moving back to Miami. And the experience was simultaneously fresh and up there in enjoyability with some of the best at his Upper East Side 3 Michelin Star flagship.
Every bite we tried was delicious- decadent Jamon Iberico on crusty tomato ensconced bread, delicate grilled octopus in an almond purée with a hint of orange adding brightness, perfect homemade stracciatella with pesto and heirloom tomatoes, a well-balanced and complex burger that I actually enjoyed more than the famous bistro moderne Berger, ending with a sublimely executed tiramisu.
As great as the food was, Robert the Sommelier is who really elevated the meal to the next level. Robert has previously managed legit vineyards in Napa and Sonoma and has an encyclopedic knowledge globally and even into relatively obscure varietals. We bonded over a luscious Chablis from a top producer after the half bottle we ordered was out of stock, then embarked on an impromptu tastings of cab franc including a mind-blowing Chinon. Throughout he was kind and affable and really just made the experience feel like a family affair. His goal is turn Boulud Sud into a Wine Spectator Grand Award winner and if anyone could create such a wine Mecca in Brickell, I think it’s him
Great dining experience from start to finish. Service was impressive, especially the sommelier. He made the wine selection fun and gave a lot of informative suggestions. We will definitely be back next time we are in Miami.
Excellent service. The ambiance was chill, quiet, and serene. We enjoyed appetizers to desserts, the 3 of us.Definitely recommend in the downtown Miami area
Awesome food and excellent service
Food was fantastic, service even better! Loved the ambience.
Great service! The food was on point…and the COUP GRAPEFRUIT GIVRÉ was a knockout!!!
It was very good, food was awesome and the ambiance was good
Boulud Sud is one of the most amazing restaurants I have been to in Miami. The sommelier made perfect recommendations for both white and red wine and was clearly very knowledgeable. Our waitress was helpful and accommodating. Overall the service was amazing. The ambience was wonderful, quiet, great decor and feel. Now for the most important and spectacular part, the food. Everything we had was impeccably prepared and meticulously created. The octopus appetizer was divine, although small. The branzino is the highlight of the menu. Beautifully cooked and seasoned, as well as the pairings with apricots and arugula make every bite a unique experience. For meat lovers, the lamb chops are perfectly cooked and paired as well. You will not leave hungry.
The food was incredible! Amazing experience all around.
Wonderful brunch. Great Fattoush salad. I’ve had many versions and this was the best. Same for the egg white omelette with veggies and feta. Everything was really delicious. Expertly prepared, plated, served. We had super service from Anna and also Claudia…the dining room manager. We will return whenever possible.
The apps are wonderful. Mezze, salads and others all good. We ate off of the brunch menu and had the same order two days ina row.
And my birthday celebration with my friends. Loved the private wine room!
Everything was excellent. Thank you. We’ll be back.
Birthday dinner. Their Mediterranean Mule was not as a good as the Tokyo mule at a nearby restaurant. The Cotes du Rhône complemented the Lamb chops but they were overcooked and presented on the lesser cooked side. The Catalan créma was lumpy. The octopus was superb. Service was adequate. Noise level was high where we were seated.
If you have been to Boulud’s Daniel in NYC or his restaurant in Las Vegas, this one is disappointing in my humble opinion.
And no mention of birthdays.
Not a great brunch experience. The food was bland, not seasoned well, and the poached eggs were very undercooked. Fries were soggy, weren't crispy. Omelette was a bit overcooked and flavorless. Nice surroundings, but had no music so it was a little depressing
Excellent a real gem , should not be missed , unassuming where taste and style go hand in hand and engage all your senses ...
While we were in NYC, we went regularly to Daniel's at 60 E 65th St which is owned and run by French celebrity chef Daniel Boulud. We had not been to his Miami Boulud South at the JW Marriott. We went today for brunch, and found it is nothing like its NY relative. What we had was good, but not what we expected from a Michelin starred chef. At one thirty they had run out of Eggs Benedict. And when I asked for a ham and cheese omelet, I was told they did not have ham, so I had a cheese omelet. One cannot order from their Lunch menu as we were told it is not available until 3 PM! Dinner is served from 6 PM. Staff was polite and apologized. I hope they get their act together, as the name "Daniel Boulud" means a lot in the culinary world.
Muy buen servicio
Unfortunately, the restaurant has gone downhill. The original (beautiful) restaurant area is only open for breakfast and lunch; dinner is in the large bar area where three televisions are playing on the wall. The food and prices are too upscale for a sports bar. Also, although the restaurant was pretty empty, the chef sent out my “medium” lamb chop practically raw. (And I’m generally fine with rare but this was well beyond rare.). The server was very nice.
We used to enjoy going to this restaurant and happily took visiting friends there to show off a nice Miami restaurant. Those days are over.
Our second dinning experience here was very enjoyable. Food was consistently delicious and staff went above and beyond providing great service. One of our good memories from Miami.
The food & service was amazing!
The grilled swordfish is a must try. It was an enjoyable and relaxing dinner for us after a long travel day.
Everything great, we loved the food! The service was great
Great food and service. Would return
Preferred the old DBModerne restaurant room (Boulud Sud occupies the former bar area) but the service and food were just as good as ever.
Middle of the road hotel brunch... not what I expected from a Boulud’s restaurant. Underwhelming and uninspired food. I have been to Sud, Daniel, Cafe and DBGB in NYC in the past and they were a consistent distinctive experiences. I believe if DB would visit this location, he would be disappointed as well.
Very nice location / ambiance and food.
I guess I was expecting more, but this restaurant was so disappointing. The food was okay but certainly not great. Our server was not able to understand us due to a language barrier. There were TVs in the area airing female wrestling which seemed a bit odd. Really just disappointing. I’ve been to the Boulud Sud at other locations and had a much better experience.
Heads up - service charge of 18% is added to your check. This is the standard in Miami now.
Daniel’s restaurants never disappoint. Beautifully executed and presented, delicious! Thank you!
Went for Mother’s Day and could not be more disappointed. Do not bring your mother for a special occasion. It took 45 min just for someone to look at us let alone get some water. An easy 2.5 hour lunch lasted over 4 hours. Missing plates constantly, someone from our party was left to watch as others ate. This is unacceptable. The food was decent but the service was a disappointment. Tables got up and left due to the lack of service. Spend your money somewhere else.
First off they didn’t even have our reservation in the system, although they did seat us after much confusion. Once seated, we waited about a half hour just to see a menu and that was only after we had to ask for them again. The staff was clearly overwhelmed and not up to par with other Boulud restaurant experiences we’ve had. The food was completely underwhelming, the Mother’s Day brunch would’ve been better had at a diner. Also charging $45 per child and serving frozen chicken fingers and fries is completely outrageous.
Food was fantastic never disappoints I eat there 2x a week . Great service bartender is great as well . Gets my vote for best restaurant in downtown area .!
A wonderful and delicious tour of the Mediterranean, with a twist of perfection!
Great lunch date with my wife!
As a New Yorker, I chose to go to Boulud for a unique meal. I was very disappointed on the level and quality of this dinner. Nothing was up to the name of Boulud. Starting with the bread being hard and warm (microwaved). The lemon pasta was just an oily pasta with lemon, terrible. The worst was my fish. I love swordfish and I only order it in a very good restaurant because it is hard to get it fresh. It was completely over cooked to the point that the texture was like chicken and not like a nice piece of fresh swordfish. The smell was also not the best. Honestly Boulud should remove his name on this location.
Yo iria a otro lugar para comer, no vale la pena como restaurante.
