Boulevard Ratings and Reviews
Good food and service but not up to expectations, especially as regards to value. Four diners, 4 appetizers, three entrees, two beers. That’s it. $310, including tip. I’m a New Yorker, so it’s not as if I’m not used to top notch, pricey places. I simply wouldn’t return to Boulevard.
Boulevard is one of those old SF restaurants you can count on for: great food, impeccable service, nice ambiance and wonderful location. Menu may not be the most creative I've seen, but always find several choices I want to eat and it is always done perfectly. Never disappoints!
Although we were one of the first guests to arrive, we were seated at table #6 which faced the interior of the restaurant. We felt we were "on view" without a view.
The service and food were excellent, but the noise level was extremely high. It may have been because of where we were seated. It was a Special Occasion but didn't turn out special at all because of the clanking of dishes as they were removed.
Have been to this restaurant on numerous occasions, I usually try and eat here when I’m in town. However, this time I was disappointed for the first time. The server was very slow, I ran out of water but was asked if I wanted more wine! The food was excellent but the service was mediocre. I had fun watching the pastry woman sneak bites as she packed the deserts.
Boulevard never disappoints. We have followed Nancy Oaks from L'Avenue to it's now infamous current location. Each dish is carefully designed to hi-light and enhance it's central taste. Beautifully prepared and accompanied, the diner can sit back and enjoy the ambiance, feeling a part of something lovely. We feel welcomed and included in the experience. Servers are gracious, informed and offer just enough assistance in choices - as you wish.
Thank you for asking.
We are big fans, and our birthday dinner at the counter was just right.
We have been to Boulevard many times. The food is classic and good, not trendy. The ambiance is old boys' club or very fancy saloon with lots of wood and mirrors. The service was quite good, even allowing us time to chat with our old friend we hadn't seen in a while. My biggest complaint is that more care needs to be taken in the mixed green salad. There is no excuse for a restaurant of this caliber to have slimy pond scum mixed in with the mixed greens. My other complaint is the bathroom location but that isn't really the restaurant's fault.
Boulevard is one of my favorite places to take out of town guest. The speciality drinks are
always well crafted, the food choices showcase seasonal ingredients and are paired in a tasty and creative way. The staff is the best in the city. Our guest felt like they had a very special
dinning experience in San Francisco.
Every year I am in San Francisco for a conference and every year for the last 10 years I make a stop at Boulevard for dinner a must do meal. This year in a 4 night stay, I came in twice, having 2 great experiences. It is a San Francisco classic, an institution for great food and atmosphere of a classic dining experience...oh and the wine list, is terrific....you won't get out cheaply, but you will fill completely satiated and never leave hungry...the staff and team work well together, and if you get to sit at the dinner bar, that is fun to watch the orchestrated culinary coordination of a well oiled high level machine....
If I ever get tired of dining at Boulevard it will probably signal the onset of dementia.
The menu is special for many reasons, but what I consistently find is that you can make a meal of any size and never leave the starter side of the menu. Care, creativity and freshness...very hard to beat. Service, even when busy is attentive and courteous.
This trip was a lunch.
Thank you Boulevard for your high standards!
