Soft shelled crab a standout. Great duck. Forget the hearts of palm salad
I have been going to Boulevard since it opened; I have been here countless times, including private dinners in the Wine Vault room. This was the first time I’ve had a bad experience - and it was really bad. It was all about the service - or lack thereof. We were ignored for so long that I actually went to check with the hostess to make sure we had a server. Almost 15 minutes went by before we even had water poured for us. When our waiter finally did show up, I can’t say that service improved. We had to ask for water refills, had to ask for bread. With some lunch entree prices over $30 I find this appalling. We had a 1 pm lunch reservation - certainly not the height of the lunch rush. Food took forever but I don’t know if it was the kitchen or if our order wasn’t submitted correctly. I complained to the manager, who had no visible reaction other than to apologize. They comped dessert for us - nice, but we didn’t order dessert (mainly because the service took forever and I had to return to work). Not the sort of lunch date I had in mind when I made a reservation. Service was awful and the response to our complaint was lackluster. Won’t return anytime soon.
Had a great experience at Boulevard during my stay in San Francisco. We got there about a half hour before our reservation and were seated within ten minutes. The service was excellent overall. I loved the beet/fig salad. The filet was also very good.
First time @ Boulevard, celebrating our 49th wedding anniversary. Outstanding service and food. We were welcomed with an anniversary card and were never rushed. Our server Sheena could not have been better.
Can't wait to go again.
The service is really special here. The decor of old Paris tile, wood, handblown glass lighting is lovely. And the food is super with every ingredient fresh and well prepared.
Food is incredible and beautifully presented. Service was excellent- server was very professional as well as warm and personable.
Only downsides were the near-deafening noise level and hostess stand- slow seating despite arriving on time for reservation. No real place to wait and constantly trying to stay out of the way of busy waitstaff and not encroach on other diners. Was not greeted on arrival. Hostess completely ignored me (single woman on business dining alone) to have a protracted discussion with a “gentleman” with a larger party who came in after me.
had a nice quiet business lunch. The Wagu hamburger is excellent.
The service was great, but the food lacked presentation and flavor. The food resembled pub food and not fine dining. Not worth the price.
Food is always excellent! Service is so so as they have so much business they don’t need to be that special on service. When we get a great server then Boulevard is heaven because the food is fabulous! Servers sometimes need to remember that. We go out to have an experience.
Flew in from Hawaii to celebrate a 60th birthday...we had visited the restaurant over twenty years ago, and it lived up to our memories. Mahalo for a delightful evening.
Beautiful service ambiance and food!
I had not dined at Boulevard in a few years, although I once enjoyed the restaurant with some frequency. I recently took my daughter to celebrate her birthday and arrived at 5:30. It was early dining for us, so we ordered a couple of Starters and wine and decided to wait to order an entree. The waitress was quite rude and stated that "she guessed they could accommodate us in the main dining room since they weren't too busy yet". If she had shared with us that the Starters were such small portions, we may have decided to order an entree at that time. I refused to let her rudeness spoil our evening, so we enjoyed the delicious Starters and decided to share the duck entree. The entree was delicious, although a very small portion, as well.
There are many polite ways to say to a patron that if we only planned to have appetizers and wine, the restaurant policy is for you to enjoy that in the bar after 5:00 (or whatever the policy may be, if there is one).
I will probably return to Boulevard again, but not for sometime, as there are too many fantastic San Francisco restaurants with exceptional wait staff who would not dream of offending a patron.
When asked to recommend a favorite San Francisco restaurant, Boulevard has been in the top 5 on my list since the restaurant opened. It has now dropped a few places.
This place was wonderful! We had a great time and all the food was excellent. Wait staff was very attentive and friendly. Food came out at the right pace and everything was prepared and presented beautifully. We had the sea scallops for a starter and shared the Asparagus Risotto and Lamb entree and the Brownie & Cherry Ice Cream for the desert. Wonderful experience.
Another great meal. Entertaining business associates from Scotland. The big hits were soft shell crab appetizer and strawberry rhubarb dessert. Our favorite SFO restaurant.
Superb dining experience.
The Boulevard has been a classic go-to place in San Francisco for many years if you have extra cash. Always fantastic food and service, and very few places have a DuMol pinot (at a reasonable price) on their wine list.
Our dinner at Boulevard was outstanding and an overall very enjoyable experience.
I gave the food 4 stars because of the halibut. It was fine tasting but underwhelming. Very forgettable. It needed something more to bring it up the caliber of the duck with olives and cherries and the burrata with pistachios and nectarines. Both of these dishes were definitely asthetically pleasing and some of the best versions that we've ever had. The coffee was lovely and the carrot cake was out of this world.
The service was on point but detached.
The wine, along with the food, was why I picked this place. We really enjoyed the higher end wines by the glass.
A must-try while in San Francisco! The food, service and ambiance are excellent.
Boulevard is one of our favorite restaurants & we went to celebrate my wife's birthday. There were at least 2 couples celebrating anniversaries. The service was attentive & food was delicious, as well as beautifully presented. They made dessert special with extra treats, a candle & Happy Birthday note. It was an enjoyable dining experience!
This is an incredible restaurant and remains my favorite in San Francisco. We started with squash blossoms and a burrata dish. I had halibut, beautifully prepared. Dessert was chocolate pot de creme and a brownie creation. They were superb. Excellent service. Beautiful interior.
Great food and great service! Highly recommend!!
Scallop appetizer was amazing. Asparagus and morel risotta was delicious. Duck was cooked well, although the sides were not a great hit. The server let us order French fries at dinner, and they were superb. Lovely upscale ambiance. We were there for our anniversary and they had a lovely card on the table for us, and complimentary petit fours for dessert. Overall a really nice experience.
We all enjoyed our time at Boulevard!
Wonderful food, ambience and service! We had a lovely celebration
Boulevard never disappoints. Food is consistent - salad dishes are always excellent!
Our server's skill set and knowledge raised the bar. Attentive but not intrusive allowing for comfortable business discussion.
Enjoyed the restaurant when we were in San Francisco this week very much. The lamb shank was very good. The salad I had was delicious My husband had the buratta salad also delicious. Great view of the light show on the Bay Bridge. Would highly recommend
Our tenth or more visit here and unlike many other restaurants, a consistent and great experience. Excellent staff serves food that even my wonderful cook wife can't duplicate. Perfect execution as well. With little effort, the wine pairings are great as well.
Over rated expensive for what you get. Other restaurants lesser known serve comparable dishes 33% less.
The ambience and the service were excellent. Sadly the food was very mediocre and it is very overpriced.
Did not care for the som, he seemed to busy to care for the 1k in wine we brought. Our server deseree was nice. Menu published online is much for expansive than they offer. Would not return.
Been coming here for about 13-14 years. Still pretty good. Husband thinks it’s lost a little something but I’m still happy with the meal. Service was excellent on our last visit too.
Always good experience at Blvd
Anniversary and it was lovely. It want excellent in all regards primarily due to noise level. We were seated very close to a group of 8 young men celebrating a birthday. Our waitress was outstanding.
Food and service were extraordinary. Wine list was extensive and very well thought out. Superb experience.
A perfect lunch!
The seats in the booths need to be updated - it was very hard to get in and out bc the seats were so sunken in and made of velvet material that catches on fabric, and even harder for women in business attire (skirts) to get out of in a professional and elegant way . Next time I’ll request to not be seated in a booth.
Has always been our favorite place to dine. They gave us the perfect table. Can't wait to return
Excellent service and cuisine that is always delightful. Even the classic dishes are refreshing because they make you remember how these dishes are done correctly. If you've never been to Boulevard then reward yourself and go. If you haven't been there lately, treat yourself to the new dishes on the menu.
