As usual, dinner was wonderful. The food was prepared and presented beautifully and the wine pairing worked perfectly.
Food was spectacular!
Perfect, as always.
I was there twice this week. Quite upmarket and somewhat more pricey. Excellent service - staff is attentive and give their best. Great food. I asked for a table with side-by-side seating and we got the perfect table. We had a great time and will come back next time we are in San Francisco.
My favorite place to eat on SF. I started when chefs Nancy was at L’Avenue, and have never left her!
Exceptional food, beautiful presentation and fabulous service
I went to this place for me and my wife's first year anniversary. I let them know ahead of time and they had a couple of pleasant surprises that made our night all the more special. Food was amazing, coffee was great and they have awesome non-alcoholic beverages. Would definitely recommend this place for any special occasion.
Boulevard has been creating and serving amazing food for many years. Nothing has changed since Nancy first opened with her friend Pam. They have sustained excellence in the competitive restuarant atmosphere of SanFrancisco. We never tire of this establishment because everything is always fresh and new and excitingly delicious.
The food was superb, as always, the service excellent, and the ambiance among my favorite in the country. But don’t be surprised by the bill...it is easy to spend $150-$200 pp here.
We have been going here for years. Absolutely hands down one of my favorite restaurants. If you're from out of town, go. If you live in the Bay Area, go. Everything about it is absolutely delicious.
The best. My absolute favorite in SF. Never disappoints.
I have wanted to try Boulevard for quite some time; sadly, I wasn’t wowed. The service and ambience were very good, but the food wasn’t anything special. I had the halibut and my husband had the lamb. For dessert we shared the chocolate pot de creme, which was somewhat tasty, but had too many components. I kept thinking Ina Garten would say, “It looks like a dogs breakfast.”
Next time I’m in San Francisco I’ll skip Boulevard.
We had a fantastic experience at Boulevard - excellent food and service, and beautiful ambience.
Used to be the BEST (and my favorite) restaurant but now it is looking very tired and shabby after not being updated or refreshed in over 20years. Sadly, the service and the food is reflective of this also. Over zealous bus boy, hovering like a vulture over our table and several times, tried to take plates that we were still eating off! Our server was the caliber of one that you would expect in a much cheaper restaurant. Not once did she check in with us to see how the meal was. Our meat prep requests/orders were all wrong - medium instead of well done; well done instead of medium, etc., etc... The most disappointing element of our experience was that they totally forgot about the fact that we were celebrating a friend's 40th Birthday, even though I had reminded the hostess at check in AND our waitress! Not wanting to cause an uncomfortable situation at our table, I quietly went to speak to the Manager, who did apologize and offered to send something over to our table, which I told him was too late because we were about to leave. He did so anyway - a few little truffles - but the moment was lost at that point. To add insult to injury, we noticed that the gross dessert we had ordered (before I spoke to the Mgr) and had informed our waitress that we didn't care for it, charged us for it anyway! Had this been any other occasion, we would have sent our meals back etc. and spoken to the Mgr at the same time. However, like I said this was a 40th Birthday celebration dinner and after spending a beautiful day in the City, the last thing we wanted to do, was create any discomfort at our table. Lastly, as another sign of how this formerly fantastic restaurant is now sub par, the parking valets were dirty and reeked of body odor. Needless to say, we "self parked" our vehicle!
I live in wine country and seldom get to San Francisco anymore. But when I do, Boulevard is my favorite restaurant. The ambience, food and service have been incomparable for more than twenty years in my experience. I’m pleased to report that as of yesterday, that hasn’t changed. Valet parking is also a plus. Just bring your wallet.
A longtime standby, Boulevard remains a reliable choice for a special evening out. Starters and mains are well prepared, thoughtful and creative courses. Traditional in the mold of a high-end Parisian bistro when Paris was the center of the culinary universe. But w/ a definite 21st century California flair. My one criticism were the desserts, which did not live up to the caliber of the rest of our dinner for four on this evening.
A must stop for anyone who enjoys great food and is visiting San Francisco.
From the friendly valet, to the warm and gracious greetings, to our table and excellent waiter, a perfect beginning. As always, a delightful cocktail menu grabs my attention, and the festivities begin in earnest. A couple of fantastic appetizers, accompanied by a great glass of wine from the ever genius sommelier, and we're ready for more. Amazing pork chop, delicious sole, more tremendous wines and the satisfying warmth of this meal is engulfing us. There's no stopping now, and mango and cheese appear, the cheese with a wine that perfectly matches.
This is absolutely the best meal Ive enjoyed this year thus far, and I'm already planning my return.
Thanks for a superb evening!
I’ve been to Boulevard twice for lunch (not recently) and really enjoyed it. Dinner missed the mark for me. I had the petrale sole which was rather dry and needed some type of sauce. No one at our table commented about how wonderful their food was which was unusual for our group.
They still have it after all these years. Go to spot for somewhere nice that is suitable for baby boomers, ie no shared tables and low noise. If your parents are like mine, they will love Boulevard.
The food was outstanding as always. We enjoyed speaking with Eric the Somm. Ridge Monte Bello 2007 sublime! Then he found some great wine from Paso Robles for desert. Exceptional service. Great views and ambience.
It's big and noisy restaurant. Food was good though.
Such a lovely time & the food was just as amazing as its talked about :)
It was perfect! It was our wedding day and Boulevard made it very special. So glad we chose you for our special day dinner!!
Overall a great old school restaurant, service beyond compare, good cocktails generous pours. I’ll be back
I have been a distant regular at Boulevard for may than 20 years. It continues to thrill with great ingredients, interesting (but not weird) preps., wonderful service and an outstanding bar/wine list! Wow!!!
The service was excellent, the food fantastic. Portions were filling but not over large with an amazing use of flavor. And the setting is pure class.
Boulevard never disappoints! It is an outstanding restaurant with a fabulous cuisine and service!
What a wonderful place; always electric and high energy and oh, the food is perfect....quail appetizer as appropriately dainty fried chicken and the always wonderful lamb t-bone over gnocchi. All served up by a knowledgeable and engaging wait staff. Love, love, love it!
This is our 4th anniversary in a row spent at Boulevard. I was disappointed that only $50 from one $75 gift debit was accepted and $0 from a 2nd $50 gift debit was accepted.
Outstanding meal in every way!!!!
From the moment we walked in, we knew this was going to be a special evening. The service was amazing - they made us feel comfortable without being pretenious. We started off with a cocktail recommended by our server and they were suberb. The server paitently walked us through the menu and explained our options in a friendly, casual manner. And the food was every bit as good as the service. My girlfriend had the vegetarian risotto and loved it. The portion size was perfect and it was one of the best veggie dishes she has ever had. I ordered the lamb and it was excellent. The entire evening was flawless. Can't wait to go back the next time we are in San Francisco. Thank you Boulevard for a wonderful evening.
Boulevard, thankfully has never changed. Always the right setting ambience and wonderful food. I have been going to Nancy's place since she was out on the avenues in late 1980's early 1990's. Keep on doing what you have been doing...
Excellent service and food and amazing ambiance
Great food, amazing table, and delicious wine. One of the finer go-to spots in the city. Hosts were great. Table service was just OK - not great. Wanted a little more attention and a genuine feel (eye contact, sincerity).
Outstanding, friendly service. Creative and varied menu paired by a tremendous wine list.
Food wasn't worth the experience. Had better expectations. Wasn't tasty and very less portion sizes.
This was probably my 10th visit to Boulevard and my least favorite.
Food was fussy and salty and fatty...all of it.
Portions very small and silly.
I think after this experience I will not quickly return.
Excellent food and service, one of the best in the city
I had lunch with my son and both of our meals were wonderful, and the service couldn't have been better
