Boucherie - Union Square
Surrounded by walls of majestic wooden-framed mirrors and original Belle Époque posters, seating at our UNION SQUARE location varies among pristine white marble and wood bistro tables, cozy burgundy leather booths, a 32ft. handmade pewter bar, and an option for a 40-guest private room, to make the 222-seat restaurant feel timeless and intimate with vibrant, contemporary joi de vivre.
Wonderful experience. A warm greeting from the hostess set the stage for an enjoyable lunch with friends. The decor reminded me of a Paris Brasserie. The servers were attentive and cordial. I had the fruit de mare and the grilled octopus, well prepared and delicious. The desserts are generous and best shared. We were allowed to take our time and enjoy our meal, we never felt rushed.
We will be back for another great meal.
Went for brunch. Decor is nice, but service very slow and quality just average. I do not recommend.
Our first time to this restaurant did not disappoint. We ordered the escargot, octopus, lamb and duck and each dish was delicately prepared and intensely flavorful. The portions were plentiful and the atmosphere energetic. Wait staff was friendly, attentive and helpful. The kitchen is open to view and while we initially hesitated at being seated in the area adjacent to the kitchen, we soon felt like we were at a private party and the restaurant was serving just our small group of tables. For your gastronomic pleasure, we highly recommend dining at Boucherie.
We visited the Boucherie Saturday night for dinner. We had 6:30 reservations. We arrived at 6:15 and were seated quickly. The server came to our dinner and we were given 3 options for water (tap, sparkling or bottled). She also reviewed specials and explained the menu. My husband ordered the Boucherie burger and I ordered the ribeye. He loved his burger and my steak was delicious. The food was really tasty and seasoned very well. I would definitely come back.
Please change the fries back to the old version. The new ones just aren’t that good.
Good food and good times
Everything during our visit was exceptional. The cocktails were well thought out, strong, and delicious. For appetizers had the slow roasted bacon, grilled octopus, and the seared scallops. All tastier than the next, make sure to use the assortments of bread to soak up all the tomato sauce that accompanies the scallops it's a treat on its own. For the entree I had the Steak Frites Au Poivre cooked to a perfect medium rare. The outside had a solid crust on it will the inside was soft as butter. Excellent steak. Not huge on the peppercorn cream sauce for the steak but enjoyed dipping the fries into it. For the dessert I had the crepes suzette and although I was stuffed by then I nearly licked the plate clean. The sugar, butter, Grand Marnier sauce pair with creamy vanilla ice cream is a real treat to close out a great meal. We'll be back for sure, enjoy.
It sure would have been nice to have our cocktails while were enjoying the pre-meal conversation. Unfortunately, the drinks arrived at the same time as our soup. I had a choice between sipping my Old Fashioned or tasting the French Onion Soup -- neither of which was anything special. Same for my Grilled Octopus starter: just ok -- with the flavor of the Octopus lost in Eggplant confit. The entrees (Salmon, Chicken, Steak Frittes) were ample, well prepared and tasty. Maybe we caught them on a bad night.
Fabulous in every way!
Most disappointing, the steak was served cold, service was terrible, the noise level was such that you could not converse. The cost for four peoples dinner was over $500 without drinks and far from worth it. I will not return.
If you have the money, this place is fine. Went with co-workers, and we had fun. If I was on my own, probably would not take my wife. I ordered a double vodka tonic, with tip is was $35! Soooooo....
Steak was very good, the bacon app was ok. I like the bacon at Benjamin's much better.
It was good, but it's expensive for what you get.
I am a frequent visitor to Boucherie on Seventh Ave in the West Village where the service is exemplary, so imagine my surprise to arrive into an empty Boucherie and not be greeted at all. I wait. Someone shows up and tells me there's no hostess. Okay, say I, but I have a reservation. They wave me at the empty tables. I sit and after another person (a stranger) arrives and is seated at a very nearby table in this empty restaurant (I have been sitting more than five minutes without water or offer of coffee at 10am on a Monday) I am given a brunch menu. I ask for the regular breakfast menu because I am fond of their breakfasts. The server shrugs. It is a holiday and they are only serving brunch. My friend arrives and we order coffee. Specifically cafe au lait. The server doesn't understand. Cafe au lait, we repeat until he mimics us and leaves (she is a fluent French speaker, and after he leaves she says in French "of course they must be out of milk") -- She orders an orange juice which she thinks is from a box (the $7 item is supposed to be fresh) and it is whisked away without question. But it remains on the tab. I order a croissant and it is perfection. But no spreads or condiments until I request them. At this point, there are eye-rolls because we have been deemed difficult. Another table complains not to get a lunch menu (the pricey brunch menu is all they are serving). We recognize that restaurants have the right to serve what they like, but it would have been nice to be informed that they would be on a holiday menu at some point (the website? when we walked in? so we could make a graceful exit to a coffee bar) - in general, if it is going to be empty at least they could be gracious. I like being the only person at a restaurant, it makes me feel generous. This place made me want to leave. (and as I say, I really love the brand).
Food was fantastic, but felt ignored by our server.
Together hosted was very rude.
No idea for her how to handle a customer.
Please note, they have a limited special menu from 4-5pm. My party and I had a reservation for 4PM, we ordered some appetizers and decided to wait till 5PM so that we had access to the full menu. Both food and drinks were pretty good we enjoyed ourselves.
A feast for the eyes and the palate. It is exquistely designed and the menu is quite interesting. I invited 6 people and evetyone was thoroughly impressed with both the ambiance and the food. Can t wait to go for dinner.
Excelente onion soup but that’s it, had grilled octopus, mussels, escargot and all were mediocre
This is an outstanding restaurant with high quality food, service and ambiance. The tables for two are a bit small once you place menus, water, cocktails, wine glasses etc. It was loud to the point we could barely hear out server and had to ask her to repeat herself numerous times (no, we don’t have hearing impairments). The portion sizes were larger than what you would expect given whats depicted on social media. The service was excellent; not overbearing yet very attentive and multiple staff checked in on us without being intrusive. Staff was very knowledgeable about everything from cocktails, wine and food. I narrowed my main course selection down to 3 items and asked our server to choose for me, and she brought me the dry aged burger (cooked medium) that was out of this world. She nailed it, although I think I would be happy with anything on your menu. We will definitely be back next time in NYC. Thank you for achieving such high standards without a stuffy pretentious feel.
I came here with my friend for lunch. She works next to the Boucherie, and she loves coming here. I loved the Escargots and Pan Bagant! I think this place is perfect for business lunches! I will definitely come back again!
It was really expensive. $375 for 5 people with no alcohol
Food was decent, but I didn't really enjoy. The steak Frites in pictures is sliced up, but they make you cut it yourself. Our burger had the bottom bun soaked in blood despite letting them know we didn't want that.
Went with friend for brunch to celebrate his birthday

Second time at Boucherie absolutely amazing. For the second time Marta was our server she never fails to amaze us with her level of knowledge. I definitely recommend this place perfect for date night.
Everything about our meal was delicious. From the bread at the table to the entree. The filet was exceptional. Highly recommended.
My wife and I had reservations for Sat 6pm. When we arrived we did not have to wait, which doesn't always happen even with reservations. We had the Steak tar tar for apps, which was fabulous. The quail egg was perfect. We shared the tomahawk 50oz steak, ordered medium rare. Cooked to perfection, and the bone marrow was outstanding. I could eat the marrow alone. The service was exceptional, I highly recommend Boucherie, and we'll be back.
wonderfu !!! l ambiance and the service and the food was the best
Fantastic food, prepared beautifully. The staff are friendly and attentive. It was the perfect Saturday lunch.
first time visit but certainly not the last! The service, food and local NYC ambience was great ! everyones meal was excellent. What I really appreciated was that our party of 4 were deep in conversation. we were not rushed and after appetizers the server asked if we were ready to have our entrees fired. impressive as there was not a table to be had
Food was good. Place was busy. Definitely need reservations just to be sure to get a table. Service wasn’t the best. Waitress never checked on us. Too bad. I would’ve ordered more wine.
Fantastic evening out at the Boucherie Union Square, amazing food and great service. Attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. The best think about this this place however, is the superb sommelier Aaron. He’s such a gem, and recommended the most wonderful wines to accompany our meal. Make sure you ask for him!
The cassoulet was a major disappointment. The beans were not completely cooked. Need I say more? Clearly a missed opportunity to showcase a classic French dish. The 4 slices of sausage and 3 slices of fatback were an afterthought and not cooked in the bean mixture. $44 not worth it.
Delicious food ,amazing service by our server Marta
Very nice ambience
Will be back
We had a fabulous meal in this charming restaurant. It was a rainy Sunday night so it wasn’t super crowded but the hostess seated us on a banquet right next to a woman who had no concept of how loud her voice was or that perhaps others weren’t super interested in w dry detail of her upcoming wedding. We probably should have asked to move but as they had paid the check I was hopeful they’d leave quickly (they did not) That was the only downside to what was a truly lovely restaurant. Our food was delicious and the service was good. I would go back but ask for a round table in the center of the room.
Very bad service!
Dining room was energetic with a beautiful bar.
My wife had Coq au Vin which was delicious (I had to beg her to share).
Duck confit was prepared beautifully and tasted as good as it looked.
Even my kids (10 and 12) enjoyed the experience. They had Steak Frittes and loved it.
Staff were attentive while not intrusive.
Would definitely dine her again.
