What Insiders Are Saying
Boucherie is a very big French restaurant in the middle of the West Village where you can sit outside and eat a steak or some escargots.
It was a great dining experience. Good food, good ambience, and good service.
Amazing holiday decoration, made our lunch very special and festive.
Loved it. Great atmosphere during holiday time.
Great holiday ambiance. Good drinks, tasty appetizers and entree. Waiter was annoyed we delayed ordering as we enjoyed their expensive drinks. He also was difficult when a member of our party asked for a mocktail. For an automatic 20% service fee on top of bill for a group of 6 I’d appreciate a career waiter.
Meh. It was so meh.
Waiter was terrible. Restaurant was busy, but that should not be an excuse, especially when ordering a $155 dollar steak.
Fabulous atmosphere for the holiday season. Food is great, pricey but a great evening spot. More toilets needed for a large restaurant.
We were seated in a table next to the entry. As there is also a bar service, people were standing up also next to us. Fortunately we were allowed to be relocated to another more comfortable table.
In the city with my family of adults aged children.
I had enjoyed eating here before and tried it again.
Our waiter was excellent. The food was great.
The place was paced as usual and the tables are small but it was worth it!
Slow, inattentive service. Never even received our appetizer. Burger came out cold to the point that the cheese on it wasn’t melted. Steak sandwiches came out without cheese on them and the explanation we received was that there “was a function upstairs, and they were very busy.” Nice Christmas decorations though.
its not real french food. it's glamourized but doesn't have the soul and simplicity.
Great steaks and seafood in a grand brasserie. Service is excellent and the whole experience is super fun !
Do not go there. Food is bad and overpriced. All salads we ordered were tasteless. The steak tartare didn’t have spice. I never eat so badly in French restaurant like there
Always an amazing time at Boucherie West Village! Everyone that works there is always so warm and friendly while remaining professional. They made my birthday So special that we came back for my boyfriends birthday. We got the same server and he remembered us which was really nice.
Absolutely the worst dining experience I had. Do yourself a favor and stay away!
As a French native, I recommend this place even if the food clearly an Americanized version of some famous French specialities. I really appreciated the cheese with bread and butter, just missing some saucisson with it! We took one dish for two and had way too much meat but we could have a bag for later. The meat was really good but the vegetables were too greasy. I would really like to try their dessert selection next time!
Started with a soggy Caesar salad that was swimming in dressing . Then I had the steak frites.. the meat was tender and flavorful and the fries were perfectly cooked. Where they really feel down on the job was the service. The place was packed. Tables are so close together that you can barely move. The waitress was not very friendly and the food came out so fast. They were obviously looking to turn tables quickly. This place is too expensive to feel rushed.
Amazing time at Boucherie! Incredible food, staff, and atmosphere. Really recommend!
Made reservations for a romantic birthday dinner. The ambiance was promising and the host were nice and friendly. Everything else was down hill from there. While the food was okay at best, it was our waiter that was the worst part of the night. Made absolutely no attempt at rapport or even providing additional information about the menu choices. From what I could observe at other tables, there did not seem to be much waiter interaction with the diners. I've had consistently better service at your run-of-the-mill diner. Given the price of the meal which hit the $200 mark for two people, I was absolutely unimpressed with both the service and food. For what its worth, if you were to go here for drinks at the bar, it would likely be worth it. But for dining, try some place else.
Very romantic ambiance, and exceptional service and food.
Ate at Boucherie for the first time. The ambiance brought me back to cafe in Paris. The service was impeccable, and the food was amazing. Great wine list at moderate prices. Enjoyed a wonderful Pinot Noir from Burgundy. The noise level was not bad, considering restaurants in NY are usually exceedingly noisy. Had a great conversation with my colleagues. Will definitely visit again!
I went to Boucherie-WV for a quick supper before a theater performance. The restaurant was quite empty at 6 and pretty much thereafter. I had steak frites aux poivres and a green salad. The meat was absolutely delicious, done perfectly, and the sauce was peppery without being sharp or overwhelming. But the price was high, a bit too high for me to return regularly.
Hands down the most flavorful Eggs Benedict on the West Side !
Wonderful. The best filet ever.
Great French food in a great setting.
The special of the day to die for! Will be back
Our meal was so good! We should have listened to the server about portion sizes, the big steaks are good for 2-4 people. We can’t wait to go back!
When we first got seated we weren’t to keen on our table as it was near the door and we felt a cold breeze every time it was opened, however our thoughts quickly changed as the restaurant got busier and it got warmer. The once chilling breeze became a welcome treat. Our server was great. I ordered a drink and he mad a recommendation to try instead, and it was delicious. Or food was excellent. I had the asparagus salad and my husband had the steak tartare as our starters. We ended up splitting them as both were so good. We split the filet Oscar, and the crab cake was one of the best I have ever had. It was a perfect potion to leave room for desert. I’m not a big sweets eater, however the pistachio bombe glacé is not one to be missed. The ice cream is made in house and is so light and fluffy. We were tempted to order another it was so good. Nothing was a disappointment. If you live here or are visiting it is not one to miss.
The classic steak frites, onion soup and salads are great comforting French fares, the ambiance is lovely and the location is perfect, heart of the west village
Really good food, nice wine selection. I really enjoyed the atmosphere, it's a fancy casual, where you can eat escargot and drink nice wine and not feel weird if you're not dressed in business professional wear. But for a French place I was expecting better cheese. I love a nice cheese plate, and the Brie/Camembert were just okay.
I was at Boucherie for a Sunday brunch. The place is beautiful which is why I really wanted to visit, however, the brunch menu is the same as everywhere else and prices are ridiculously high. A simple omelette with mushrooms and goat cheese was $24-26, unnecessary really.
Space is a little tight, ask for a table on the second floor against the glass if it’s a date night
Good food. If I am going to a pricey restaurant I expect good service. We literally had to go find our server after 30 minutes of finishing our food and ask them to please clear the table, bring a coffee and the check. Would recommend, but Balthazar is way better.
We were very disappointed. The food was ok, but not worth the high price. Our over-eager waiter interrupted our conversation about the menu several times to point things out, but didn’t understand our questions and sometimes gave nonsensical answers. Even though we were upstairs in the quietest area, it was still much too noisy.
Nice room that makes you feel like you are in Paris, but the food is so grossly overpriced relative to the quality that I cannot recommend. Lower the price by 25% and it may then be worth a recommendation. Otherwise go elsewhere for better food.
Great French classics & service at the bar & table was top class. I had several cocktails at the bar and were well made
service was terrible, cocktails were weak and tasteless.
Best first date night
Great food and wine. Knowledge and attentive service. Expensive but worth it!
