Bouche Ratings and Reviews
I found this bistro by accident in yelp. It is a European style bistro and it is rated 4.5 star in yelp. But i wouldn’t recommend it.
We ordered risotto, lamb belly and two glasses of wine because we only want a light dinner.
Lamb belly(appetizer): 4 star, but it is not something to make you come here.
Risotto(Main): 1 star, the cranberries in it is apparently over cooked and it taste sour and bitter. I asked the waiter where does the sourness come from he just replied “I don’t taste any sour” :(
Wine recommendation is good overall.
Went there with my colleague who’s from out of town. We ended up sitting at the bar and having the pleasure of the servers mingling with us. Great service and attention. The food was outstanding from appetizers to entrees to desert. Great spot for a date. Small , intimate restaurant.
Another enjoyable dinner at Bouche . Lovely to have a neighbor bestie restaurant. Shame we are going back to the Antipodes soon. We arrived very early and Matthieu kindly invited us in, so we had the dining room to ourselves...and all the good service. Our favourite Fleetwood Mac music floated up the stairs. We shared the bacon bread and the divine chickpea chips and aioli. I couldn't resist the hangar steak again for my main. Excellent. My man fell hungrily upon the seared salmon like one of those bears in Alaska. We shared a bottle of French rose. I finally got to enjoy the creme caramel desert I had been waiting for. Heaven. Thankyou Samuel for the surprise desert wine gifted with our coffees. Hope to come back again some day. Judy and Wayne Raymond
Bouche was a great discovery, close to our Hotel in Union Square. Loved the ambiance upstairs. A very authentic back street Parisian experience. We were hungry and the perfectly cooked hangar steak with bone marrow sauce was perfect both in flavour and portion size. The walnut salad we shared was enormous and seasoned to perfection. Mathieu our charming waiter helped us with wine choice. Service was efficient and prompt. The dessert of shared eclairs was slightly dry, so on our next visit 31 October, we will try the acclaimed creme fraiche custard. It was a warm night and an open window necessary for ventilation and comfort. As you can see we are returning for more culinary perfection at Bouche before we leave San Francisco to continue our travels.
My partner and I just so happened to walk past this restaurant and decided to eat there for dinner that same night. The food was AMAZING! We had their brussel sprout appetizer which was absolutely to die for. We wanted seconds and possibly even thirds. I had the steak as my dinner entree and my partner has the salmon. Both were seasoned perfectly and had the right sauce and sides. I will say that if you enjoy meet, the steak is the way to go. This was such a great dining option for us and I am so happy that we ate there.
We were very disappointed w\ our dinner. The location was convenient, the ambiance charming & the host very personable. But, service was terrible - waited 10-15 minutes after being seated w/ no menus or drink orders. Once, we had menus we were pressed to give our menu selections immediately after a long wait for service. Our food arrived, before our bottle of wine & the response was, "you can drink it w/ your meal"! The food was okay - nothing special -comparable to what one would prepare at home.
Thank you for the opportunity to respond.
The restaurant is very small and rustic, and quite dark. You'll need a flashlight of sorts to read the menu. Seating is on the second floor and just 5 or 6 tables. The poor waiters need to run up and down the stairs.
Service was excellent, the waiter was charming and accommodating, patient and efficient.
The menu is limited, a handful of options for each of starters and main dish. The food was good, but not great, overly salty, as is the mode these days.
The wine list consists of french wines only, with a decent selection of reasonably priced wines.
Delightful atmosphere; felt like we were in Paris. A bit noisy acoustics especially with tables very close together. Wait staff were good, but seemed to move the dining experience a bit quickly. Definitely would like to enjoy the ambiance more along with the very nicely prepared, creative dishes.
We had an awful experience at one of our favorite restaurants, Bouche on Bush Street. We took my visiting daughter and her boyfriend for a special event. Our meal, wine and dessert were wonderful. However before we had time to relax after our dessert the mature d came up to my wife and told her that we needed to go, that he needed the table. He did not approach the table right behind us, who had been there long before us, and had finished well before us and were in conversation. This behavior was rude and unnecessary. Bouche has lost a local customer and we will spread the word. I wrote to the Bouche web site weeks ago and no response. I guess they could care less, plenty of millennial‘ s around to fill up the place.
Bouche has a very small menu, but the hangar steak was delicious - perfectly cooked to order and very tasty. Our only complaint was that the chocolate cake was not really as described in the menu. It was cold, dry, and should be replaced on the menu, since it does not even come close to the main dish quality. Our waiter said most people complained with similar comments, so it is time for them to change the dessert offerings. Wines by the glass are mostly choices from France, however our waiter steered us in the direction of nice selections.
This is a small restaurant, only a few tables, and just four items on the entree menu - but very well prepared, delicious, and one of the best meals we've had. The portions aren't too big ( as you find at some restaurants), but just right for dinner. Book in advance - tables seem to be in demand.
This is our third time eating at Bouche and it seems to get better every time. We started with the tuna and lamb belly confit appetizers - flavor combinations were outstanding and very creative. My wife had the chicken and I had the hanger steak entrees - both exceeded our expectations. Excellent French wine list (what would you expect?) and very helpful server to assist us in pairing wines with our meal and dessert. Won't be our last time going to this outstanding restaurant.
Very, very French. In fact, half the people there were French speakers. Go for the lamb confit. It is absolutely plate-scrappingly good. My husband had the seared tuna and the lamb confit, both entrees. I had the risotto and we ended with a chocolate cake with a cardamom whipped cream. However, somewhat pricey, but that is how San Francisco is these days.
Waiter was friendly but not on his game. While he recommended a great wine for my wife and I, he couldn't remember which wine belonged to each of us. He brought us someone else's credit card and receipt and had one too many glasses of wine on our charge when it arrived. He also made a similar mistake on a couple's tab sitting next to us. The surroundings were quaint but very warm due to the warm weekend in San Francisco.
It's a shame. The food itself was great but the service was the worst I've ever received in my life. It took an hour to get a glass of wine after we ordered it. The food took another hour. The waiter got our order wrong twice and he forgot to put it in altogether. My dish came out at least 30 minutes before my partners. When it came time to pay I was charged for the wrong bill twice. The third time he finally got it right but after my card was charged for the wrong table twice. I feel bad for the folks that work in the kitchen because the food tasted great. The service was the worst I've ever experienced in my life, ever.
