Counter seating is available on a first come first serve basis.
Love this place... food is always fresh and tasty and although it can get noisy when tables are all full, I do love the very European flair of the upstairs loft
The food was excellent and the service was as well. The only drawback was a limited menu. You can understand why when you see the restaurant. It is very small However, if you like French food and wines it is a very good choice..
I love their ADVENTUROUS menu, so cool!
The food is amazing obviously, and the service is excellent!
Restaurant bien agréable , chef français ; plats originaux
This was a great place with really friendly staff - fantastic food and help with wine that complemented the food
Would go back again if in SF
Very tasty food. It is expensive but it is SF near Union Square so that is to be expected. They only have 7 tables and some bar seating. It got a bit loud when 5 tables were filled up. We would go again. It was great for a date night
Outstanding! Truly a one of a kind experience
Pork chop was to die for! I love wine but not at all familiar with French wines, waiter recommended an excellent pairing for the meal.
This is one of those restaurants one can be reluctant to talk about not because it's not good. In fact, it's awesome. But because you get concerned about be able to get back in after it's discovered. if you like serious French cuisine from a creative French chef in an atmosphere you don't see very often in the States (i'm thinking of the counter section), then you will love this place. If you're not a picky eater and basically will eat anything, put yourself in his hands and enjoy. It's possibly the best place to go in SF if you're in town on business and dining alone (and you're tired of sitting at the sushi bar, which is what you usually do in other cities).
Great service, great food!
Our party of 4 needed to move our reservation back 30 minutes and Bouche did that for us even though we were only 1 1/2 hour before the original reservation!
Upon arrival, we were quickly seated and greeted. Even though the menu selection is somewhat limited, all 4 of us found an appetizer and entree that not only interested us, but more than met expectations.
The pork chop and tuna dishes were very, very good. Quality and portion size were exceptional.
Desserts were outstanding! We found it hard to decide but all choices were shared and savored.
If there was any negative, it was the $35 dollar corkage fee on each of the two bottles of wine we brought with us from Napa. Seemed to be very excessive. ($20 in Napa)
Other than that, I would have rated Bouche 5 stars overall.
Ordered the ribeye steak. It was so fatty I could not cut it. Ordered two appetizers and they were both just fair noting innovative. I had been to the restaurant four times before and had loved the food. In the past it had been a challenge to get a table but on this Saturday night the place was pretty much empty. I can only guess that from my last visit to this visit the management had changed. I would say that my dinner was probably the worst that I have ever has at a restaurant in SF
Had a fantastic birthday dinner at Bouche. We went for “The Adventurous” appetizer - highly recommend!
Very nice place for French in holidays
Service in French
Great service and nice small dining area upstairs. I loved the gold trim crockery and wall paintings. Nice simple menu and good wine list.
Tiny venue so reservation a must. Small menu but more hits than misses. Vegetable dishes executed well. Excellent and engaging server.
This is an absolute gem of a restaurant. The food, ambience and the service is excellent.
Fabulous Restaurant with excellent food quality, service impeccable and a great value, I am highly recommending this restaurant, as an Executive chef on my own, bravo for this great experience.
My husband and I had a wonderful evening at Bouche. We enjoyed the "mystery" appetizer the night we were there. The wait staff were all wonderful and reliable in their recommendations. I would have liked slightly more choices for dessert (my favorite part of the meal), but overall it was a lovely evening!
What a delightful surprise to find Bouche in what seemed a sketchy location. The dishes were both inventive and delicious; the service warm and prompt; and the upper floor tables, fun.
Tables are close so your experience will be partly dependent upon your neighboring guests.
Love the fact that there are only a few choices that they can master and present beautifully.
I will return happily
Excellent French table.
Small choice of very refined food.
My son and I enjoyed very much.
The food was very good. The menu is quite limited. The person who seated us was slightly annoying as the restaurant was completely empty as we were there at opening 5:30 and told him we would be leaving early to go to the theater and he purposely put us in the the worst table. When we asked if we could sit by one of the 3 empty tables by the window he told us that he had too many reservations and couldn't seat us there. We also had a reservation. it was quite a turn off
Fabulous food in a great ambience. Tried the adventurous option which was fun and tasted great. The staff were so friendly. A great evening
Lovely, warm place with friendly, knowledgeable wait staff and impeccable food.
Great food and service!! Would definitely visit again and highly recommended! The staff are so knowledgeable of the food, explaining items aa well as with wines. The “surprise dish” or adventurous dish is a must!!
HAVE to go here when you are in SF. Gourmet food at an ultra reasonable price.
A highlight to a wonderful day spent in the city
Outstanding experience! The food was exceptional and the service fantastic. Our second time here and we will definitely be back again.
Our waiter could not have been more gracious about all of our questions. His descriptions were excellent and we enjoyed our selections - char and veal sirloin. He was knowledgeable about the wines too. I especially enjoyed the small truffles that were added on to my husband's dessert tart with meringue. I could have eaten a whole plate of the truffles, they were so sinfully delicious!
It's the closest thing to a Parisian Cafe that we have in San Francisco. On the small side with a downstairs and "cozy" upstairs. The food was excellent, turned out in a very cramped kitchen with
a limited menu, but everything we ate was well appointed and delicious. The waiter was deliteful and very helpful with ordering. You can get a preview of France by trying Bouche. It's out-of-the-way and
may take a little extra finding it, but it's worth the effort!
Innovative and delicious food with very attentive service. We ordered the focaccia, octopus, steak, and fish. They said their menu changes on a regular basis. But I would say the bread was particularly delicious.
There is new ownership since August 2018. The restaurant is a little rough and rustic, not what I expected. Our waiter was french, with good english skills and quite attentive. As is common now, there were only 4 or 5 entree choices. I expected more of a Fluer De Lys polished appearance and presentation. This is more of a neighborhood casual dining place, not a San Francisco food find.
The entire experience was very pleasant. Food was creative and beautifully presented, but just a bit underseasoned. Ian was a hoot, but had a good balance of friendliness and fun with professionalism & distance. He was knowledgable and attentive without interrupting or being cloying. We would all go back!
Great night at Bouche. I have been there at 11pm on a Thursday when the place was bumping and every seat at the counter was filled. However, on this Wednesday evening, things were quieter and less elbow-to-elbow. Warm welcome, super-attentive service, easy vibe, not too loud. We loved the char, the veal, the octopus, and the "Adventurous" appetizer, which turned out to be fresh anchovies from Monterey Bay, fried crisp and ready to eat whole. The rhubarb dessert was just sweet enough to cap the meal and light enough not to put the hurt on us. The Menetou-Salon went well with it all. 20/20.
Really special place. Super charming and great menu! Worth the price
My lady and I go to Bouche’s at least once a year and have been going for about 4 years. The food is always delicious and service is superb.
This is a fun French Bistro with comfort food and a fun wine list. Service was very personable, as well as professional and friendly. Late night dining in San Francisco is difficult to come by but I enjoyed this restaurant very much
This place is a gem. Food is fantastic and the service is personal and awsom.
