I'm sorry we really tried to like our second visit. Service was fine but rote and lacking what we are used to in NYC restaurants. Although the pastas we tried were good, the halibut fish special we shared was awful. The fish was virtually inedible and even the cauliflower puree on which it sat was poor. The restaurant was lacking in decor and the lighting was way too bright for Saturday night. It is a shame because it is a fantastic space. I would recommend the front bar.
I love this place. The people are very welcoming and service oriented - engaged but not too much. The food is excellent and consistently so - healthy choices and really tasty ones. I adore the cacio e pepe which is as good as in Rome. And I love the room! It is filled with natural light, the tables well spaced and the design beautifully understated. It looks and feels beautiful and relaxed. The total vibe is exactly right for a leisurely conversation and respite from the chaos outside in Chelsea.
Great Italian dinner
Great neighborhood gem.
Always a great meal there!!
We said I love you and met a couple in matching outfits. Really nice night.
Pastas are amazing!!!!
Great and reasonably price wine list - best part about this restaurant!
Disappointing in both presentation and taste. Needless excessive salt on traditional pasta bolognaise dish (why?) as well as half cooked salmon main. Would not recommend....half empty, no wonder.
Good moment, nice place, cosy and beautiful!
Consistently good. Exceptional value.
Overall it was fantastic experience!! Especially the warm olive oil cake is to die for !!!
Everything was great here. We arrived about 30 mins before closing and the host and server were both great and very patient. The food was amazing! The environment was beautiful! The only complaint I have is that the bread we had was stale.
The Place is nice and quiet, perfect for a taking a break when you are in the city. The food was tasty, really good. Small portions, though.
A bit noisy but very good, our replacement for the Red Cat since it closed.
Went there for Nee Year celebration! Prix Fix menu, worst service I have ever had in a restaurant! Waiter never came to table except to take order! Had to go to bar to get drinks, they ran out of items on menu! How do you do that on a set menu? They had a mandatory 20% gratuity charge on bill! Why should the waiter care, he was making his money! Being an owner of a restaurant in area, I realized how lucky we are to have an amazing staff and why we are so successful.
We visit Bottino regularly. It’s a very nice, well decorated Italian restaurant in Chelsea.
we had a very nice time with friends and my daughter and our son-in-law...the food was very good. We were there early New Years Eve and it fit the bill for what we were looking for...
Excellent! We’ll be back
Noisy. Asked for old dish Not on menu told new chef new menu. Asked to have salad chopped. Chef does not chop salads. Not accommodating and not great food.
I am so sorry you did not enjoy the new menu as much as the old menu --true, Bottino had undergone big changes, with a new partnership and chef. After 20+ years, I wanted something new for the next ten years! Thank you for letting me know about your experience, we will be sure to let the servers and kitchen know to accommodate a simple request like that! Hope you will return....we value our long-time customers very much! Danny
The restaurant is beautiful. It is very comfortable with wonderful lighting and decor. The food was fine and might have tasted better if the server had a warm disposition. Felt like we were a burden.
Loved this place so much! Had the best time for a birthday dinner. Our server was so great and very accommodating. The back covered area was magical.
Bottino was wonderful, as always, and very accommodating. Part of my party was unavoidably delay but they accommodated us. Food wonderful as always and service real nice and attentive
Bottino is a lovely neighborhood place with delicious food and a warm atmosphere. If you are in a rush, try their sandwich place next door - really the world's best sandwiches on fabulous bread.
This was the best experience ever! The food was great, service was great, nothing bad to say here!
Very unaccommodating restaurant no regard for people with food allergies " Chef" only serves what is on the menu! Never going back!
This was not our first time at Bottino. We were here to celebrate my best friend’s birthday. While the food was solid, there were MAJOR issues:
-30 minute wait passed our reservation time
-quick and messy service
-asked for our sparkling wine to be put on ice and never was
-cheese plate and appetizer came and the food was never presented ( waiter never highlighted which cheeses were served )
-main courses came out and incorrectly given to us and not to mention handed literally to our hands , not placed on the table
-main courses sat out while the red wine we ordered still not brought out
-wine glasses with water not dry when wine was poured
While I want to like this restaurant more because of the food, service does not meet basic of the basic service standards -even at the most casual trattorias get it right .
Food cold and serviced was way to busy,
I was really disappointed. Bottino has always come up as a classic NY spot but it seems to have deteriorated. The service was slow and inattentive, long periods of time went by waiting for food, drinks or a simple check-in. The menu reads like a dream but the execution is lacking. Our pasta was raw (not al dente but crunchy raw) and the sauce was unseasoned and bland. The bread basket was two (generous) pieces of yesterday's stale bread. My tricolore salad was really delicious so credit given where due. We will not return.
Loved this neighborhood gem that was the perfect spot to dine before we saw a show at Atlantic Theater.
Very nice restaurant with a civilized clientele. Teddy is the best! Always a pleasure.
made the reservation on open table 1.5 hours prior to our outing and were seated swiftly by a friendly hostess. the waiting staff was very attentive but not overbearing. fritto misto was really well prepared, very light and flavorful, great lamb, but the linguini with scallops really stole the show. we were sitting in the garden with a large party carrying on nearby, therefore the noise level was a bit high. overall, a great experience, we'll be back!
The new chef is fantastic. We’ve been eating at bottino for years and it’s never been better
Not as good as it used to be.
The dishes are honest and fresh. The staff is very solicitous but doesn’t rush you. I brought tourists from abroad, who are used to linger a bit longer and nobody came to give hints it was time to leave, as it so happens in NY
The room was too cold , found a hair in my cocktail and the soup was Lukewarm.
Despite of all that I will go back, because the food is delicious and stuff just happens!
Excellent, consistent and quality offerings. Very pleasant environment and great service.
My Opening at my gallery... several years in a row.... thank you Bottino
Always a great meal in a wonderful space. That's why I keep coming back.
As it was our first time at Bottino, the waiter made excellent recommendations. All four of us were extremely happy with our meal, which was complemented with a lovely wine.
