Bottega Michelangelo Ratings and Reviews
This is the second time we've dined in this restaurant since the major remodel. Even with a reservation, we had to wait for a table. We were seated in a booth designed to seat 4 people, but there was no way we could sit across from one another. As a couple, we enjoyed sitting, side by side, but I don't know what they would have done in a different situation.
The food was very good and our server was pleasant. We will be back.
First time visiting and it was highly recommended. I would say overall it was fair. It was a bit pricey and my wifes entree was very dry. The bruschetta was very good and I would recommend that. Overall the visit was fair and I am not sure if I would go back based on the prices and the quality of food.
I made a reservation for an anniversary dinner, requesting outdoor seating. When we arrived, the hostess headed toward an indoor table; I reminded her that I had requested outdoor seating and she led us to the patio and said, "Sit anywhere." Once seated, we received water and menus promptly. Very soon after, another server took our orders, which included a bottle of wine. The wine wasn't delivered for ~ten minutes, and we waited another ten minutes for our salads. The entrees took another ~15 minutes to arrive. Yes, the place was busy on a Friday night, but if this place is now focused on a more casual dining experience, they need to increase kitchen staffing to get the orders out more quickly. At the end of the meal, our server offered us the dessert menu. There was no mention of our anniversary celebration or offer of a complimentary dessert. Apparently, they make no notice of the notes that are left in the Open Table reservations.
That said, the food was delicious. The Caesar salads are creatively plated and include lots of Parmesan cheese. We both had pasta dishes, and the pasta was delicate and the sauces flavorful. We took a piece of the Chocolate Decadence cake home with us, and shared it over two evenings. The wine list is modest; it would be nice to see some Arizona wines on the list.
We love the new 'look' and 'feel' of the restaurant! The upgrades and modernization makes the place feel very welcoming and 'alive.' Same great Italian food, and the new pizza oven is a nice centerpiece between the updated bar and main dining area. They've also added a new pastry case that draws you like a magnet... near the front door...wow! And the espresso machine churned out some nice after-dinner libations for us.
We live nearby and we were anxious for this restaurant to reopen. Recently remodeled and renamed [Bottega ] Michelangelos was very busy on this Friday night. (Reservations suggested)The décor is modern Italian and very clean and modern. We ordered oven fired margarita pizza and Caesar salad. They were nicely prepared and presented and the pizza crust was exceptional. It will take a few more visits to try other menu items to fully assess if the food is as good as the ambience. Considering how incredibly busy they were I found the service acceptable. Our waiter, Josh, had a warm smile and no indication he was under stress. Good job.
Love the new updated look of the restaurant - larger bar is so great! Not very impressed with the chopped anti pasta salad — almost all lettuce. Written up as chopped salamis, mozzarella, peppers, etc. (obviously missing from my salad). Will go back though for a 2nd try.
Forget the Pizza. With a brand new pizza oven we figured how could we go wrong? After waiting nearly an hour (Pizza kitchen was backed up we were told) the pizza came and it was awful. Thick dough, dried out ingredients, little cheese etc. Didn't even bother to try and eat. Management agreed pizza not prepared as should be. Offered to make another. We chose not to wait longer and they deducted price of pizza from bill. New remodeling and interior looks promising but if we return we won't be ordering a pizza. Very loud but menu looked promising. Our chopped antipasto salad which we shared was quite good. Dissapointing, but should probably give it another try. You'd think making such a big deal out of their new pizza oven, pizza would be a signature dish. Management needs to get new pizza chef and recipe's.
Everything was wonderful except when I reserved seating in the bar for 4 on line, it was not honored when we got there. I showed them the confirmation on my phone. And due to the limited seating in the bar we struggled to sit together. Fortunately other patrons moved around to make it possible.
Recent remodeling effectively brings Michelangelo into 21st century. Menu has very few traditional main courses, but presents a wide variety of salads, pastas, and pizzas. All three diners enjoyed the food: cannelloni and lasagna were especially noteworthy, with subtle sauces and mixture of meats. The crepes in the cannelloni were prepared perfectly with just the right amount of crunch,
The major negative—and it’s a big one—is the violently loud noise level, even at the early hour of 5:30 when the place was not crowded. I would be hesitant about returning. Management should have worked on the sound level during the recent renovation, but they clearly chose not to.
Made reservation through Open Table. We were seated right away and within minutes our server came to us and introduced herself and took out drink orders. Our drinks were delivered very shortly and she asked if we knew what we wanted to order for dinner. We said we'd like a little time to chat over our drinks and she gave us just enough time for us to make up our minds on what we wanted to order. Four of us ordered a different entreé and we all thought ours was delicious. All entreés were generous in size and we all had "doggie bags" to take home. Our server was excellent. I would definitely go back. We may try happy hour in the bar area. The happy hour menu looked quite good!
It wasn't their best effort. We arrived on time for our reservation and were told it was going to be 5 minutes or so. We decided to sit at the bar and managed to get happy hour. We ordered the calamari appetizer and they brought it and we still didn't have utensils or napkins. The bar was really busy and service was a bit slow. We did like the new look. The spent some money and did a nice job. We'll be back. It always takes awhile to get up to speed when you have major changes.
We went on a Friday night with friends about 7:30and had a great meal. First time there since remodel and loved it. The crowds had thinned out and didn’t feel rushed at all even though we were the last ones to leave before they closed. The food (eggplant parmigiana and pizza) was fantastic and the cannoli and tiramisu were fantastic. Our waitress was very attentive and was very knowledgeable about the menu. Can’t wait to go back.
Only been two or three weeks since they reopened after a significant renovation. Real nice improvements. Very open . Salads were very well presented. Fresh and crisp. Entrees need some work. Generous portions but not up to usual Michaelangelo standards. Broccolini tasted way over salted while the pork was bland. Great service.
My husband and I wanted to see the new Michelangelo . We were disappointed. We are from Chicago and was hoping for a good pizza. Not even close. Not enough selections and prices we thought were $$$$. It was VERY noisy . I will say the service was good. They need to get a better attire for the waiters. Jeans and denim blouse???? I am sorry to say we probably won't go back.
The food was amazing. Some of the best Italian we have ever had. However, the hostess ignored me when I came in. The lady who finally seated us was not very personable and I never saw her smile the entire evening. Our waitress was so new she was not very helpful. It took a very long time to order and our service was incredibly slow. Also, our waitress spoke too quiet for how loud it was in the restaurant.
Michelangelo's was recommended to my my husband as a great place to go for authentic Italian food. We went and were blown away by the portion sizes, the excellent food and the service. We had such an enjoyable evening that we took our daughter and son-in-law on their 10th wedding anniversary, as they had never been here before.
We all enjoyed everything so much that we will become regulars just to sample more items on their menu.
Loved everything about the place.
They were very accommodating about exchanging a pasta side dish with a parmesam risotto for myself and exchanging fettuccine alfredo for spaghettini marinara for my husband. The food arrived in a timely manner and was hot..fresh from the kitchen!
Our waitress was very pleasant and a joy to have as our server.
This is not a place to miss.
