Bottega Michelangelo Ratings and Reviews
While visiting Tucson we dined at Michaelangelo's twice. The food was great (salmon for me; chicken parmesan for my husband); excellent service and wonderful ambiance. The outdoor seating is elegant and quiet. Overall we loved this place and will be back on our next visit to Tucson.
Dinner was wonderful...but, the music was so loud we found ourselves hollering at each other across the table. We asked twice to please turn down the music, but it didn't happen. As we were leaving the restaurant we mentioned to the young woman at the reception desk about the loud music and her response was...."my grandmother tells us to continually turn up the music because she can't hear it!!!!"
First time at Michaelangelo.
Unlike their competitor in Oro Valley (Cafe Torino) the service was excellent. Three diners had three different dinner selections, each very complimentary of the freshness, quality, presentation and preparation. The waitstaff was professional, attentive but not intrusive.
The antipasto board was excellent as was the recommended wine.
Best cannoli west of the Hudson River.
Interesting little place. The maitre-d is so slow you can trip over her on the way to your seat. The server was quite slow to get to us, but once there, she was great. We started with an antipasto, which may have come under the salad section. And so it should, as everything is cut into tiny pieces, but it was very good. The portions on the entree were huge - I'm still eating the pork, which is now 4 meals. We had an amazing cheesecake for dessert - very sugary, but again, quite good. This was a 3-course "date" meal, to be shared by two (one app, one dessert, each orders their own meal). Priced at $48 (for 2), including a very nice bottle of wine (several to chose from). Why was I surprised that the cappucino was $5?
I love your restaurant, but I was very disappointed, for the first time, with my choice for lunch. It was two cannoli filled with a sausage mixture. The filling was chopped too fine, kind of a mushy mess and topped with entirely too much heavy cheesy sauce. Could barely see the main dish!!!. Wouldn't have that again. Everyone else loved their choice!!
Food did not meet value paid. Lasagna was cold, brussel sprouts were burnt. Overall food was fair. Service was excellent. Now that menus have changed and everything was alacarte, we were disappointed. We even did not receive our bread until nearly the end. Will not recommend.
Three friends for dinner and we ate on the patio with no one else there. Nice and quiet. Ordered the artichoke appetizer and was a little disappointed. One friend wanted a Mudslide and the bar was out of Kahlua and has been for a while. Disappointing for her. The bread rolls were outstanding and our meals were very good. Lasagna, Portifino and the Shrimp with tortollini.
Being snowbirds here in Tucson, we've driven by Michaelango's many times but never stopped. Wanting to go someplace new for my birthday, we decided on Michaelangos. Everything was great from the food to the service. Also pleasantly surprised to find Tuesday's are 1/2 off on bottles of wine. We will be back.
The reservations were appropriate due to the Valentines Day holiday. There was a short wait, and a choice of a Booth or Table. The wait staff was mostly young and very well dressed and did a great job. The Food was quite good. A little pricey after the adult beverages but we enjoyed it regardless. We'll be back!
It was my first visit, my friend wanted to go and have her favorite... she hadn't been there in years. I made a reservation on line for Valentines Day for my Sweetheart and me. She was disappointed that the full or regular menu was not available. Portions were very large and the food we had was wonderful....the bus boys and girls were very good and friendly, wait staff seemed a bit too busy. I understand it was national Date Night... we will return, but on a regular day.
We went for Valentine's Day. Arrived on time. Seated immediately. Great server, checked on us often. Friendly. Food as always, was very good. Had several specials to choose from. I had the sword fish, wonderful; hubby had the ribeye; loved it. Very busy night; very prompt service without feeling rushed.
There were 3 in our party. We started with a Octopus appetizer and for our main courses we ordered the Sea bass, Veal, and the Carbora. All the dishes snd service was excellent. We will go again since there were so many dishes that we want to try.
The Manicotti for one.
The food was better than we had remembered in the past. Everyone in our group was happy about their meal and wine. However, the service could have been better. Seems like we were waiting on drinks often.... Others in the group said the same thing, wish service was a bit better.
We are not ones who go out often because I love to cook. But anniversary celebration took us to Michaelangelo's. I have to say from start of appetizers (calamari &brushetta ) to lasagna for hubby and lamb chops for myself they were all quite delicious. The bottle of wine topped it all off. Definitely will be back before the next celebration.
We have Dined here many times, and usually the food is terrific. This evening we brought out of town friends with us and the food was not that great. I ordered the sea bass and it was very tough! So unusual! The Pasta dishes were kind of bland. Our desserts was not up to par either. Our server was awesome and they gave us the booth we had requested. We did stay quite awhile visiting. I think they were happy we finally left.
Have really enjoyed eating here in past. However this time we waited 90 mins for entrees and had to threaten to leave before they finally came. Of four entrees, two were very good. Two pasta entrees were dry and they forgot to include chicken on one (which is a basic part of entree on the menu). A long night, with terrible service, and only half our food was good. Won't be going back.
