I went to Botanist to celebrate my wife’s birthday. I would say it is simply one of the best fine dining restaurants in town. The decor, reception, services, atmosphere, and the food are all excellent. We tried their tasting menu. The dishes came over just exceeded our expectations. Thanks to our server Brandon who did a great job giving us a wonderful dining experience.

Upon arrival we were greeted within 5seconds which was great, we were then seated at this beautiful table by the window, the seats were very comfortable they didn’t sink in like most places which we loved and the decor of the venue was very soothing and creative. We received service about a few minutes after we were seated, he was very friendly and polite. We then were greeted by a sommelier who helped us with our wine selection which turned out to be phenomenal we loved the wine. Dinner was amazing the food was outstanding and the birthday card from the crew really made my friends bdays really special. Overall great place to eat we should’ve came sooner and more often which we’ll be doing from now on!

A colleague recommended this place on his recent visit to Vancouver. We had a nice view of the open kitchen. Overall, the food and presentation were excellent. The appetizers (snow crab salad and foie gras torchon) were delicious. The entrees (lamb saddle and strip loin) were cooked perfectly medium rare, with the lamb saddle entree being the more interesting plated and tastier of the two. My wife enjoyed it very much, especially the crispy hominy. My daughter had the kids’ butter noodles with cheese, which she enjoyed and finished. For dessert we shared the esmeralda creamux and mayer lemon cake, both very good, with not a crumb remaining when we were done. Service was on-point and very attentive. We arrived a bit early for dinner, so the dining area was relatively quiet during the early half of the meal. Towards the end, the room was bustling and the noise level grew to a moderate but lively level. The one table close to us was particularly loud and ear-piercing at times, but it was towards the end of our meal so it was manageable. Overall a very good experience and we would return again the next time we are in town.

Excellent cocktails, food and wine. The homemade bread was a particular highlight. Overall ambience excellent - a top recommendation for fine dining in Vancouver.

We had the taster menu with wine pairing..my 13 year old had the tasting menu but no wine! My 11 year old ordered a la carte. Food was sensational.. the flavours were amazing. Every course was gorgeous. The cocktail we had at the beginning was great and the wine pairing fab too. Pricey but worth it.

Brunch was fantastic but the service was underwhelming. Took 20 minutes to just get coffee and tea! And by the time the tea came it was cold and we had to send it back!! Had to ask several times for a glass of water. Hopefully just a bad day...

My starter foie gras was amazing and my main lamb dish was outstanding. Dessert (squash with vegan ice cream was a bit of a disappointment). But overall an excellent meal.

The food and the wine pairing was well done. The relaxed atmosphere was inviting; however, we sat close to the open kitchen and at times when orders came in and the chiefs are speaking, it got a bit louder than expected for a fine dining restaurant experience.
It was a birthday occasion and we were excited that Botanist took the effort to find out if it was a special occasion.
The resulting effort to help celebrate the occasions was underwhelming.
My wife and I ordered the full tasting menu with wine pairing (over $300) and to help celebrate they put a small candle on the dessert (part of the tasting menu) with a card.
We expected a little more considering the price and the occasion (compared to other restaurants).
In the end, the food was great and value was OK and we would considering going back but it would not be our first choice, especially for any celebrations.

Incredible from beginning to end. Our server Chris was an absolute delight and professional to the maximum. We did the 6 course tasting menu and we were completely spoiled. They even accommodated my dietary restrictions. It was a night to remember!

Fantastic room. Outstanding service. The sommelier (Susan) made the experience extra special. The food is very good however it could have been warmer when served. The music (live piano) was very good as well. After dinner we enjoyed very unique cocktails at the bar. Great spot. We look forward to our next visit.

My wife and I celebrated a birthday at Botanist. The staff, as is the case so often in the New World, mistake excessive enthusiasm for excellence. The room is somewhat noisy, a bit underfurnished, and certainly underilluminated. I would suggest a candle or equivalent on each table. The food is mostly acceptable, but neither memorable nor generous. Our server was very agreeable and competent, as was the sommelier.

great food, great service. found the tasting menu to be good value for the price. only critique was the duck course on the tasting menu. technically very well executed, the tart could've used more acid and maybe even fresh component to it (ie: sliced radish). Favourites were the sturgeon and the croquette w/ uni foam.

service and ambiance were top notch.

Best dinner I had in Vancouver, and I’m comparing with St. Lawrence and Hawksworth here, so this is high praise. Sommelier Stephanie was a joy and a fantastic regional resource. The foie appetizer ranks with eleven Madison park. I don’t stop to write many (or any?) reviews on open table, but Botanist deserves special mention.

We had a great time. The lab cocktails were absolutely stunning. Worth every penny and the bartender who was making them/ serving us was wine of the best bartenders I've come across. Super calm, collected and a great host. Food was really good. My only super minor complaint is that I wish the wine we ordered had been decanted. It was a South African Cabernet Franc dominant blend that needed some serious air. After some aggressive areation in the glass for 5 minutes it was way better.

One of my best meals in years. Amazing tasting menu with wine pairings. Unique and unexpected, but wonderful combinations. Knowledgeable service that was exemplary even as 2 separate wedding dinners were happening at the same time. As a solo diner, I felt every bit as valued as the large groups. Also thrilled to see that all the servers are wearing comfortable footwear, no matter what their role. Outstanding experience overall.

We’ve dined at several fine dining restaurants and found Botanist to not have the level of cuisine, atmosphere or service as most others we’ve tried. We had the 6 course dinner option and left hungry. The portions were quite small. The duck and lamb were very good, but the other courses nothing memorable. For the pricepoint, we definitely would not recommend it nor do we plan to go back. There are plenty of far better fine dining options in Vancouver for this pricepoint where the food and portions are better.

Restaurant was pretty. Like sitting in a garden setting. Specialty drinks seemed too themed and odd to try. The menu is very limited. I had the steak dinner and it was cooked perfectly and everything on the plate was the perfect temperature. The best thing about this restaurant is the attentive service!

Will go back with my husband. The sablefish was delicious (as my salt level is low, will ask to reduce salt on my next order). The snow crab salad was very good too.

The duck and sablefish were really good. The lamb though was okay, nothing really special and I dont think its worth the price. Service was good but there could be improvement comparing to other high-end restaurants.
